Anyone feel better after menopause...I’m dying

Hello everyone....Im writing this post in hopes of finding anyone who has been through what i am going through and they have gotten better. Im 41 years old and about 6 years ago i started feeling very sick for no reason at all! Every time i would eat i would feel sick to my stomach, then the anxiety symptoms started.... i realized it all was happening the week before my period and during my period. Went to the dr for tests after missing three periods in a row and she made me feel like a quack! She said the tests were normal and just told me to go to a shrink and im too young for perimenopause, so i did i was told that it was perimenopause but meds may help so i was put on antidepressants which made things worse, I stopped the zoloft and now 3 years later my periods are every 60 days and i feel so sick all of the time! I cant eat, i dont have energy to leave my house, I now weigh 97 pounds cause im so sick i cant eat, i have headaches always around my periods and ovulation times....I really feel like im dying but nobody listens. Has anyone felt this bad with perimenopause but once you completed menopause the sickness went away? Im at the end of my rope here...I dont feel alive i feel like a zombie walking around in a sick body!

I wanted to add the weight thing...I was down to 100 lbs last year...weak and sickly from 115/120lbs. I had GERD and found it nauseating to eat, Please try to get the calories in. I drank shakes because I found eating so unappealing some days. my reflux issues are under control now...after a year I am about 110 now.

      Hi Lou,

Me again, Sorry to know all your suffers. I have been suffering almost same things like you. I had the same issue, worry about my weight lose. I am a skinny person, last year lost 15lbs because of overactive thyroid. A bit happy you put at least a little bit weight on. I wish I will. I had GERD too, since I take Slipper Elm, my symptoms gets better, wish it will disappear. Now I have ringing ear on my right side. One has ended another one comes!

Hi Lucy! Oh yes! The ringing...it is enough to drive us insane! I completely understand. I got snickers and comments when I complained about weight loss. It is not easy to put weight on for some of us. It is very scary. My GERD is mostly under control now. Although, I still find it weird that I can eat a lot, not move around very much and struggle to keep weight on. I have always been thin though...after each pregnancy, I would get back down to regular weight. I know we chatted about thyroid stuff before...mine has been checked so many times. I will have them check it again at my next physical in Feb.

My naturopath who specialises in women's health said that women who go through peri earlier generally tend to be the most symptomatic. She also said that there is often a period where these women's symptoms are constant and don't let up. This has been my biggest fear, I have vision issues and dizziness which has been constant 24/7 for nearly 2 years, but that has over this time got slightly better or worse, but is always plaguing me in one way or another. Its all very scary so I know how you feel.

Hi jenjen! did she mention anything about symptoms peaking when the end is near? I just do not know how much worse things can get. The least troublesome thing are my periods...they are pretty quick, light and 21-57 days apart. I feel awful for the ladies that have floods every month.

Oh absolutely yes, me too. I worry about this all the time.

She didn't mention a peak when the end is near but who knows. I agree, things surely can't get worse than they are now (touch wood). I don't have the flooding either and mine have lightened a lot and I tend to get a lot more spotting. Generally speaking the lighter they become the closer you are coming to meno, but not always. Some women go through peaks and troughs of this too. I really hope it ends for us soon.

Ive noticed mine have gotten lighter and not as much cramping, I also have hot flashes and night sweats during my periods now. I used to be very regular every 32 days but over the past its went from 38 days to 42 days to 48 days and this mist recent was 63 days! Goodness it would be nice to know the end is near with it!

Hi, Thank you for posting. I started this crazy journey 5 years ago. It has been up and down with many symptoms and these discussions really help. I come to them and read and feel like it will be okay, because this is some kind of normal. I have had all of the symptoms you mentioned. The one that bothers me most is the racing, irregular heart. It is almost 3 am and it woke me rapidly beating. I know it is a panic attack and my hormones are crazy, but I still feel like I am dying. I hope knowing that this is something that is common and women survive it helps. It helps me a little.

hello rebecca, I have been going through this for about 6 years but it feels so much longer than that. And i totally agree that this website is a godsend. It helps knowing others are going through the same thing! Sometimes my symptoms are so intense it really does scare me thinking something is so badly wrong but no dr believes me! This past week i had a choking gagging feeling in the back of my throat that lasted for 6 days! This is a new symptom that started to ocurr along with my periods about 8 months ago....it seems like every year something new comes along with it. Last night i had a bad bout of insomnia along with a fluttering heart sensation.....so i know exactly how you feel you are no alone 😦
