Anyone had dry mouth problems?

Hi ladies! I was told today by the dental hygienist that I probably have dry mouth, which would explain why my mouth has been so sore for the past 4 months. Anyone else had this? If so what helped? All the advice I was given was to chew chewing gum or sip water throughout the day. Just wondering if there's anything else I can be doing as it's blooming painful. Weird thing is it only affects one side of my mouth. Weirdness!
Thanks ladies! Xx
Ps 29 day cycle with one day of heavy bleeding and 2 days spotting... Think I'm approaching the time when I start to skip periods. Can't wait as it means I'll be getting near the end! Xx

I feel like I am in the desert.
I have dry mouth and chew gum and drink water and that seems to help. If your throat is sore maybe suck on hard candies or Halls candies good for sore throats (where they sell gum). You can get sugar free candies at the bulk stores.

I had all Different kinds of dentistry text and Doctors did not know what causing it and put it down to medications
When I develope this I was only on blood pressure meds at the time, my doctor had since reduce the dose
but I think hormones could be playing a part in this as well
My tongue was so dry and sore and my throat, it has since got better and not so bad now, fingers cross it clears up.

Hi Kadija. I'm 53 and have been having dry mouth for the past 2 years. It was so severe that talking was overwhelmingly painful at times. I'm happy to say I have it under control now. There are two main things that helped me. The most important thing for me was to be on estrogen. It actually helped over night. The results were dramatic. The other thing that was helpful is xylitol mints. Xylitol stimulates saliva production and gives you immediate relief. The relief lasts only as long as the mint, but it's still helpful. There are even xylitol mints you can stick to your gums for overnight relief. I also found that alcohol instantly dries my mouth, as does my allergy medication (an antihistamine). Good luck, I know how frustrating this condition is!!

Well, I have been diagnosed with Burning Mouthe Syndrome and one side is more effected than another. It started in September and now it's almost has gone I would say I feel like dry more than burning ? Just wait it will go. As you can see it's about 1 year 😕 chewing gum was my Doctor.
Hope you will feel better sooner than me.
Blessings

I'm happy for you that you feel better, did you take any medicines, or any special food?
Thanks.

I didn't eat any particular foods to help clear it up. Some days it seemed like swishing with coconut oil was helpful (swish for 10 minutes). And on days when my mouth was super dry I avoided very dry foods of course. My doc prescribed medicine that makes you salivate, but I never took at as he told me it wasn't very effective in most people.
Good luck!
