Hi just curious to know people's views if they had treatment here or other experiences of being NHS patient in a private hospital.

Thanks.

Hi I had mine done at Guy's (NHS) I shared the room with 4 (2 empty beds) free access to guest Wifi and the nurses , physios, and of course the food was superb including my surgeon and Drs. The extra cost is the TV .I had to stay 7 nights due to the side effects of the medication's .

my 1st experience with NHS hospital was vere impressive .

good luck and don't worry too much it will be over quickly.

Hello Sarah, I had my THR in NHS and could not fault the treatment at all even the food!  Ny Father had been in same hospital in 2005 and it was a vast  improvement sonce then.   However, I was booked (choose and book) for a visit to consultant and that was in the local private.  They said I had no appt even tho it as still on the system and the person who dealt with me kept repeating.. well you are NHS. we do not do follow up / revision here.  The fact I was NOT there for that went over her head.  Def treated as 2nd class?  What annoyed me even more was I kept telling her IF the appt had not been as quick I would have been there as a private patient anyway! AND I was still on their records as a private patient.   I used to live overseas... and to see Doc quick here in UK was private paying myself and not thru insurance. Comparing the care I had back then for Breast cancer and the care in NHS for THR.. the latter was excellent care and nursing and full on attention.. not so in private!  Only benefit of private.. yr own room, TV and en suite.  Major ops NHS always

    Hi Sarah,

I had my THR at the Spire Southampton paid by the NHS. My surgeon was the one who would have done it at the NHS hospital. My treatment was excellent. I had my own room, en suite, TV & wifi. The nurses were brilliant & nothing was too much trouble & the food could not be faulted. My recovery has not been a problem & anyone who gets the chance take it.
