Anyone NOT had any side effects on Citalopram?

Posted , 526 users are following.

Hi there,

After much deliberation, talking to just about anyone I could find and generally scouring the internet for information, I have decided to go with the Docs advice and take Citalopram, starting today. And then I found this site....

Has anyone NOT had any side effects on this? It is making me feel very worried about taking it. Am I just going to have to sit tight and presume the worst? Are there people who take it and dont feel nauseous and tired or even worse to begin with?

I would really appreciate any comments.

Thanks

M

I've been on 10mgs of CIT for the last 2weeks, just been back at the docs & my dosage has just been increases to 20mgs.

I really wanted to talk about taking some time off work, but I couldn't even do that, I just felt that I should continue at work under the pressure I'm under.

I suppose I can always go back to my doctor & ask to be signed off, I just don't want to worry about my employers a sense policy, where I would need to return & be managed for being off.

    thanks all

Evening all. Well what a cpl of days I've had. It started when my friend came to stay. Unbeknown to me she started on cit one week after I did. We have had so may conversations about side affects, even found that we could look back and laugh.

i have downloaded a cpl of apps onto my phone that I have found really helpful, my favourite being the mindfulness bell, on my bad days (of which I have had many) every second that passed felt like an hour not one moment passed when I didn't realise how bad I felt. When I started having good days I kinda didn't realise how good they were, this bell rings every 3hours through the day and it gives me a chance to reflect on how I am feeling and how good or bad my day has been up to that moment, I recommend this app to everyone, it has made my bad days easier and my good days amazing.

So in the last 3 days I've had a houseful of people and once they left my garden was full of neighbours and my wife's friend. I feel so proud of myself and the big steps I have taken

hope you are all having a good day

    Hi all lol

I've got a bit of a query and wondered if anyone has had anything similar.

I'm on week 6 and have been grinding my teeth so much (at night mostly) that my jaw feels tight most of the day and my dentist has recommended I get fitted for a mouth shield to wear when I sleep sad It could also be the reason I have pain in the nerve in my temple.

I'm sure I read (quite a few posts back) that someone else had this? I'd like to know if it's the cit causing it or if it's just me rolleyes

Any clues would be most welcome wink

    Cheers guys,

    Loulyn x

      Hope you're well,

    To the moderators,

I found it difficult & fiddly to post on here since the changes. There's been a hefty drop in the usual number of posters so please do something, the forum worked fine before and we all need each other on here wink

Although I do love the fact that I can choose to go to a page in the middle of the discussion now without having to scroll through everything so thanks for that biggrin

    Regards,

I took it for 3 days and took them back to my GP i felt like i was 'on something', however my mother in law and cousin take it and have for some time and as far i know both are fine, im close to my mother inlaw and lived with her for 5years so would know if she suffered any affects.  I can only assume if they dont affect you then they are what you need, they were not for me and would never take again x hope this helps

Hi, not been active for a while...my side effects went (am 5 weeks on 10mg) and had a good couple of weeks...however about 5 days ago my anxiety returned with the physical symptoms.  BOO!! Went to docs and she wants  me on 20mg as she said my body is used to 10mg and i need to go to 20mg to maintain the effects.  Worried about more side effects...Help!!

Hi Nat.  Sorry to hear you're not feeling so great at the moment.  Based on my experience and what a lot of others have said, 10mg is quite a low dose so I'm not surprised you're doc is advising an increase.  As to side effects, they may or may not return and may or may not be the same - I would say just go with it and see what happens and remember, the side effects are only relatively short-lived and will go.  Take care.

Thanks Dougie I am so apprehensive about an increase in dose but from reading up I can see that 10mg is a low dose.  Fingers crossed.  Thanks smile

Hi Nat . I went from 6 weeks 10mg to 20mg with no side effects as I think my body had got used to it . 10mg is like a stepping stone to 20mg.

      Good luck

Hi Nat, I did the same a week ago with much reduced side effects which have more or less worn off now so probably best to just go for it biggrin It won't be forever & I can feel the benefits (apart from the teeth grinding lol) wink
