Anyone NOT had any side effects on Citalopram?

Hi there,

After much deliberation, talking to just about anyone I could find and generally scouring the internet for information, I have decided to go with the Docs advice and take Citalopram, starting today. And then I found this site....

Has anyone NOT had any side effects on this? It is making me feel very worried about taking it. Am I just going to have to sit tight and presume the worst? Are there people who take it and dont feel nauseous and tired or even worse to begin with?

I would really appreciate any comments.

Thanks

M

    Thankyou Joyce

Im really not sure if its the drugs or my situation that is causing this.

I am seeing the dr again in a few days so will keep going till then.

I was having them in the morning but trying them now at night to see if this helps.

Seems to change slightly every day.

    Hi

At the moment, you are the most important person here. Presumably, you been prescribed Citalopram

    because you are depressed?

You need to sort out your health before worrying about having a baby, as a Mum of three, and a grandma of 4, I can promise you that having or even trying for a baby when you are depressed is not a good idea for

you, a baby or your partner.

Get yourself better and then talk with your partner and your doctor about preparing yourself for pregnancy.

In the meantime, enjoy practising, planning names and discussing your ideas on child rearing and discipline. But more importantly, enjoy the time you have as a couple, go on holiday, and start saving!

    Happy preparation xxx

Ok Its me again... the one who started off this discussion! Hi everyone!

So, the story so far - I have had a great time on this drug and I wished I had taken it sooner as it made me be ME again, but have now decided that it is now time to come off them.... I think I may be a little too laid back with my 40mg per day.

So guess what my next question to the Big Wide World will be? Yup, thats it - Had anyone NOT had any side effects whilst coming OFF Citalopram? Am planning the reduce slowly and see what happens tactic. Wish me luck! I will let you know how I am getting on...

Good luck to all you others out there. Thanks for posting your thoughts. Lots of love

I think they've made me gain weight too, but I'd rather have the extra lbs than the symptoms.

Good luck to those reducing or coming off them--I'd rather stay on them for now, but as mine

is for fibromyalgia--it's not going to go away!

The more of this thread I read the more I link with Citalopram! I have put on 10 Kilos over a year since I increased my dose to 20mg. How interesting! I will never stop taking them, better a plump happy chappy than a thin miserable sod!!!

Hi everyone again... one of the reasons for deciding to come off them was indeed the weight gain - 1.5 stone in a year!!! Bleuch!! I am now fat and happy, but when I wean off I will hopefully be on the way to being "thin" and happy - I hope! smile

From a position of total ignorance I would say Noooooo don't stop. If something makes you feel better why stop taking it only to go through the same problems when the the chemical imbalance re-emerges.

Watch the adverts for Sensitive Toothpaste...there is a relevance there...honestly...!

I have been on Citalopram 10mg for about 3 weeks now. Did anyone have any thoughts of being submissive with everyone and kind of useless in the workplace. In addition I sleep all the time now.

    Hi M

So thankful for you sharing your progress with Cit, I've just started and already worried about whats going to happen coming off them.. How did it go for you? How long did it take? And how are you know that you're off them?

I just thought after trying everything else naturally and refusing citalopram a couple of times that I would just give it a go and see if it worked.. little did I know about all the side effects, withdrawal symptoms, no drinking, etc pretty full-on, life-changing stuff. I hope I've made the right decision.
