I'm 82 yrs, on 8mg medrol/day, always have a drink before dinner. Sometimes wine, sometimes liquor. Just had my 4mo medical and was told that I was in the best condition of ANY of his patients, do NOT do anything differently, and that my playing pickleball does far more good than harm - even though I fell yesterday and ripped up a lot of skin.

I loved a glass of dry white wine in the evenings for years, both with and without PMR and Pred.  Then somehow my taste buds became affected (I don't know why or what caused it) and I literally couldn't swallow it.  Gave up wine altogether in the end (it took a long time for me to accept that - I kept trying. Wouldn't you?)

Then someone offered me a glass of rose a couple of years ago and it hit the spot immediately - woohoo, I can have a little drinkie now and again!

What I find strange is that David has always liked Campari - talk about wormwood and gall! Or so I thought. Now I really enjoy a Campari soda though I prefer a Campari spritz. But it has to be the original which is really bitter - not the el cheapo himself drinks which is much sweeter to me - he says not! Is it PMR or pred that messes with our taste buds????

Dr Nick ( that's me cheesygrin ) recommends a glass of your favorite wine with dinner.  I have usually about 2 glasses of red ( Japan does not have good domestic wines, so I drink Australian, Chilean, Californian or even occasionally from South Africa). Wine relaxes me and also, just like prednisone, opens up blood vessels; I don't think it cures PMR , but certainly makes you feel better.

Since starting on MXT I can't tolerate wine as well and get quite drunk quite quickly, so that's put a stop to more than one or two. You really aren't supposed to drink much on MXT anyway as it stuffs up your liver enzymes. But my rhuemy was quite happy for that amount, even on MXT
