Hello,
My life with Globus continues....
It's been two years + now since I was diagnosed with Globus the only trouble is that my mind just cant accept this and always thinks that it is something more sinister..
My symptoms are / have been..
Tight / Uncomfortable sensation whilst swallowing, like there is something there.
Constant thinking about the sensation of swallowing ( due to constant throat sensations)
Clicking in throat when swallowing, worse when drinking liquid.
Stabbing pains under jaw
Feeling that there is something coating the back of my toungue
Senstations worse when tired but not as bad in a morning when i wake up
Long term tickly cough 4-5 months
Different food and drink irritates my throat
My tests/ treatment over the last two years include..
Loads of blood tests including several full tests
Six endoscopies ( camera up nose looking down at throat) with 4 different consultants
One Gastroscopy ( camera down throat & oesophagus to look for damage / anything sinister)
Lots of different Doctors and Consultants feeling my Lymph glands
CBT (Cognative Behavioural Therapy)
Clinical Psycology (Current)
Lansoprazole (in case i have silent reflux)
Two chest xrays
Diazepam
Citalopram
Propanolol
All tests came back clear.. But even after all that lot I am still no better with the Globus and have a second Gastroscopy coming up in early February to check for changes to the condition of my oesophagus and throat since the last one
Please message me if you have had or are having simlar experiences with Globus as it is driving me to distraction at the moment..
I look forward to hearing from you
Best Wishes to all fellow sufferers... I will update after next gastroscopy.

Hi Zen and everyone else who's living with this condition!
I have had Globus since last August. I had some health issues and I became very anxious about it. I was told I had a health anxiety and GAD. I then started to feel like I had a lump in my throat.
I had many GP appointments, an ultra sound of my neck, many ENT appointments, Examined many times, an MRI scan, blood tests, a nasal scope - All tests showed normal function and the only thing the ENT consultant could see was some slight inflammation.
I have used Esomeprazole and Gaviscon for 4 weeeks, no real changes. I lost nearly 4 stone in weight, mainly from the panic of all the weird sensations in my throat. It was painful to move my neck and swallowing hurt. My ears were also very painful.
I broke down at the end of November and was given Sertraline. Within a few weeks the pain had gone from my neck, throat and ears. The Globus sensation is still there though.
I've had to come off the Sertraline as it started to give me chronic diarrhoea. Which made me have more anxiety!
So here I am a few weeks into 2020! Still with Globus but not much pain just a sensation. I have another ENT appointment in 2 weeks. Not really sure if there is much they can do for me! I wonder if a Gastroenteritis or a Psychiatrist would be more helpful??!
Things I do that maybe helpful to others are -
Drinking plenty of water
I now drink decaffeinated tea
Sleep with extra pillows
Reading, puzzles and colouring books in the evening or when feeling anxious.
Hot water bottles on chest, neck and tummy for comfort
Lavender oils to massage neck and shoulders
Breathing exercises
Finally TALKING. Keep talking to friends/family/loved ones. It helps to keep your mind free of the worry and also helps you to challenge any worries that spiral! It's an awful thing this Globus and I've had periods where I've thought i was dying. Talking helps to keep me calmer. Sharing in a space like this is super helpful too!
Good luck to everyone! I'm happy to support and chat to others going through this. I have no magic answers sadly but we all need to support each other!

I am experiencing this for the first time, for maybe two weeks now. i had never heard of anything like this until googling about feeling like i had something stuck in my throat. After reading more about globus i'm starting to really despair. the constant sensation is affecting my concentration and making work difficult. i would do almost anything to make this awful feeling go away, but I wake up with the acute sensation of having a pill or something stuck in my throat every morning. Worse, there doesnt seem to be any obvious "cure"....
I am desperate for a solution, I truly dont think i can go on like this. Just a totally bizarre issue. Any encouragement would be appreciated.

Hello,
Well, if there is a cure or not really depends on the ultimative cause. There are some bodily illnesses and dyfunctions that cause it as main or side symptom. Sometimes they are wellknown and easy to find, sometimes not. Generally, as long as the cause of a health problem is not removed, total relief is not possible. If the problem is actually caused psychically, it might be a bit harder to solve it, considering that the brain is a tricky thing, and it could, at the end, depend on how your overall mental condition. The easiest way to differentiate is to find out whether the feeling disappears when you are distracted, really absent in the mind. Hope this helps and that everything turns out to be less serious than it might have appeared.
