Hello,

My life with Globus continues....

It's been two years + now since I was diagnosed with Globus the only trouble is that my mind just cant accept this and always thinks that it is something more sinister..

My symptoms are / have been..

Tight / Uncomfortable sensation whilst swallowing, like there is something there.

Constant thinking about the sensation of swallowing ( due to constant throat sensations)

Clicking in throat when swallowing, worse when drinking liquid.

Stabbing pains under jaw

Feeling that there is something coating the back of my toungue

Senstations worse when tired but not as bad in a morning when i wake up

Long term tickly cough 4-5 months

Different food and drink irritates my throat

My tests/ treatment over the last two years include..

Loads of blood tests including several full tests

Six endoscopies ( camera up nose looking down at throat) with 4 different consultants

One Gastroscopy ( camera down throat & oesophagus to look for damage / anything sinister)

Lots of different Doctors and Consultants feeling my Lymph glands

CBT (Cognative Behavioural Therapy)

Clinical Psycology (Current)

Lansoprazole (in case i have silent reflux)

Two chest xrays

Diazepam

Citalopram

Propanolol

All tests came back clear.. But even after all that lot I am still no better with the Globus and have a second Gastroscopy coming up in early February to check for changes to the condition of my oesophagus and throat since the last one

Please message me if you have had or are having simlar experiences with Globus as it is driving me to distraction at the moment..

I look forward to hearing from you

Best Wishes to all fellow sufferers... I will update after next gastroscopy.

Well, if it is any help, I first remember having it 15 years ago (though i may have had it earlier) It has come and gone over the years , though not very often and I am currently experiencing it. I don't worry about it at all and I knowit will just not be there at some stage soon at which stage i will forget about it till the next time. I think it is stress related so worrying yourself will only prolong it. It always seems to disappear if i have a few beers , which sort of backs up the stress theory! Good luck and don't let something so inconsequential affect your life!!

It is so comforting finding a place where others are going through the same thing I am suffering from. I have been suffering from the globus sensation in my throat on and off for almost 2 years now. I have been to an ENT and nothing. I then saw a gastroenterologist and had an endoscopy. They discovered that I have GERD. After my own research I discovered that this is a symptom/ side effect of GERD. When it is acting up my stomach becomes really bloated and if there is any pressure on my stomach the feeling gets much worse. And when the pressure builds it feels almost is if I am being choked. It becomes difficult to breath and difficult to swallow. It also makes me nauseous and my gag reflex becomes really sensitive. Just wondering if anyone's symptoms are similar or if anyone has found any relief when it is acting up. Any guidance would be greatly appreciated!!

      Hi Sarah,

I have the same thing. My doctor told me I likely have GERD so I am on Omeprazole. I am doing 2 cycles (2 weeks each so totalling 4 weeks) on 20mg in the morning 30 minutes before eating. I haven't noticed drastic improvements yet. But what I've noticed is globus sensation correlates with my anxiety. But it's like a vicious cycle because when I feel it, my anxiety gets worse, and my globus gets worse lol. So I try to find ways to relax. This might be going for a walk, a run, getting fresh air, listening to music, read my bible, etc. I don't have an answer to solve it but I have found a few ways to reduce it for periods of times. If anyone has more suggestions, I would love to hear because I would definitely use them smile

I wish you the best. You're not alone. smile

    Dear  Globus kid

i hope you've had some improvement. I recently had an esophagectomy for esophageal cancer and when I woke up from the surgery it felt like something was stuck I now m'y throat and that I was being strangled. At first I thought it was temporary as the join was made in my neck but  the sensation which is driving me mad (together with all the agonising pain fro my the op and having to adjust to a new digestive system). I do not have the clicking (look up globus pharyngis on Wikipedia for surgical solution).

Have you you had any I improvement? Have you tried necklace exercises?

Not sure if this thread is still going. Hi I have arthritis which is really painful at times I then just before Christmas started with crippling chest pain in and out of hospital checking every part of my heart lots of blood tests ecg etc apparently my heart is fine not so convinced myself. They diagnosed Costo saying it’s the inflammation causing the chest pain. Just after Christmas I felt I couldn’t physically swallow went back to Hospital to be told it’s probably all to do with my condition. I then started with my neck feeling tight feeling like I’ve got a a ball of mucus stuck in my throat and an awful clicking almost grinding sound in my throat. I have an endoscopy planned for Tuesday so terrified of what they may find. Any advice would be much appreciated

      Hi Zep,

Yep still here 7 years after I started this thread my friend.

My situation has moved away from the Globus although my throat is sometimes clicky but it is age related wear and tear.

I am now in chronic anxiety mode and worry about everything to the extreme.

      Also had panic attacks.

      Peace 🙏

i am so glad i found this forum, you guys have no idea. My symptoms started a year ago. i got this feeling like i had hair caught in the back of my throat. I'm a hairdresser and work long days. It didn't go away , my dr didn't think it was anything. The feeling went away for a little bit, then of course came back. my dr said for peace of mind he send me to a ent. Out here it can take months to get in with a specialist. By the time it was my turn it had gone away again and i didn't go:( so this feeling comes and goes. Eating and drinking make the feeling go away and then its back. lately its been coming back more and more. I have a physical this month and i'm going to go to a ent. like everyone else im scared to death its something bad. I was a smoker, I quit over a yr ago but im still afraid the damage is done. i seriously love this group. All of you seem like your trying to help others.
