Atrophic Vaginitis

Hi has anyone ever had bloody discharge with this- Its not related to sex as I'm not currently in a sexual relationship. I've had this now for a week...since my pilates class six days ago.

I got told I had this condition six month ago and have been taking Vagifem 10mcg which I am using every other day.

Just concerned that the symptoms seem to be getting worse rather than better. Any advise would be great : )

You need to see a healthcare professional- Pilates wouldn't cause this. Neither should vaginal atrophy!

I've already seen a healthcare profession- hence having been put on vagifem. I didn't say it was caused by Pilates...but it has been blood strained discharge since then. I have heard certain exercise can cause problem if you have atrophy as the tissue id friable and bleeds easily.

Didn't read you had already seen healthcare professional am sure I read could be a side effect of vagifem. What a pest all this is isn't it.

      Take care

It is indeed. Especially as I'm not yet officially past menopause so it could be hormonal bleeding.......I'm a bit fed up with it all I can tell you!

You could just check it out with your GP  but no point in worrying needlessly because we all do. Pilates wouldn't cause it.

Why take any chances? I would just call the doctor's office, let them know what you are experiencing and go from there. It probably says on the vagifem insert to notify your doctor if there's any unusual symptoms like bleeding.

Of course I will if it doesn't seem to clear up but I've been backwards and forwards so many times with this condition and don't seem to get anywhere.

I was just wondering if its anything others had had an issue with in connection to the Atrophic vaginitis.

Wow you guys are quite harsh!! I don't need a lecture about going to the doctors...I was at my Doctors less than a month ago and have another appointment booked for a few weeks!

I was just after an idea if anyone had had discharge with Atrophic vaginitis.....it seems like a harmless question!

Hi Tracy, I have bloody discharge as of recently. I have been dealing with this for 8 months now and sometimes it seems I take 1 step forward and 2 back. I go back to the dr. next week (I seem to go ever month or 2) so I’m hoping she can explain the bloody discharge and if it’s from the Estrogen or not. I also am not in menopause.

Tracy, If you read many other posts on this site you will understand that a lot people ask about symptoms that they long since should have seen a doctor about. People are just trying to convey that bleeding is serious. Your first post mentioned that you had seen a doctor 6 months ago (not less than a month ago), hence everyone's concern.

My AV has never caused any discharge, bloody or otherwise.

When you bleed while taking hormones it is my understanding that doctors want to know. I would call to speak with the nurse asap.

People here are all trying to help each other... and you. No need to feel otherwise.

Hi, I have been on vagifem 10mg for 12 months 3Xweek and have not had any blood or discharge. It really isn’t doing much anymore so I am going to see if I can try some compounded estrogen instead.? Have also been told that it might be IC as I have alot of bladder pain or what I think is bladder pain😩Just wish I knew for sure what I am dealing with as it is ruining my quality of life and I am only 58!

I think I have what you describe too. The estriol is definitely helping my VA but I have terrible painful bladder too. Am really sick of it.  When I need to go to batgroom tbe feeling in my bladder is just terrible it's sore, stinging, and a feeling of just having to get to the toilet. Then when I get there I hardly do anything and can be back in an hour. Not so bad during day it's worse during the night. Do you take anything for thar. One thing I haven't had a UTI for a while think the estriol definitely helping the VA bit but oh the bladder bit.

Hi Olive - I have tried so many things for my bladder issues and nothing has worked. I just started taking compounded estrogen and so far so good. The bladder is less painful and no burning but I still go a lot?? Going for a cystocopy with distension in Sept so will see what that brings. Try epsom salt baths, a little baking Soda in water and stay away from anything acidic until bladder calms down ....hope that helps. Stress is the worst for bladder issues so try to relax as much as you can😀

You sound like me and my doctor told me nothing would help except estriol and I have been using it for about tbree months and it is getting better but bladder still not right. Do you still have pain in your bladder or round it worse when you need the toilet in the night. It's been terrible all these burning and stinging sensations. Never had anything like it. I am in Scotland and we don't have compounded estrogen.

Dr said estriol very mild form of estrogen and has lots of things in it which are beneficial and it is helping

I don’t usually get up too much at night but one thing i was told is not to drink after 7pm. Hard to do i know? I did get some AZO when i was in England at xmas time visiting my daughter but it did not help the burning either....it is banned in Canada. I am hoping that the compounded estrogen works as the vagifem for 12months has not helped my bladder issues, will keep in touch with any updates.
