Atrophic vaginitis - Relief at last!

Posted , 10 users are following.

Hi ladies

Thought I would share my latest attempt to ease the symptoms of AV.  I stumbled upon an American website where a Gynae Doctor recommended using Vitamin E oil.  I bought some Vitamin E capsules and did as he suggested and inserted one into my Vagina daily as well as puncturing another capsule with a pin and  squeezing the oil out and rubbing it around the opening of my vagina.  After 5 days of doing this I finally started to get relief and 2 weeks on I am still using it and feel great.  I am still using Vagifem twice a week also.  Give the Vitamin E oil a go ladies.  Nothing ventured, nothing gained.

    Hi Ladies

Looks like we are all awaiting a new post from Gwen. I am sure that there is an answer out there but with all the ladies needing help they do not promote it as we all spend soooo much money on trying to find the correct cure for us.

I am so hoping that this is the answer for me.

Come on Gwen get back on line LOL

Yep I'm waiting for Gwen too. I am so hoping this is the answer for me too. It will be a massive relief if it is! :-)

Hi Gwen, If you shared the website with us I think a lot of people's questions would be answered and then some.  (I'm American and am very curious about the site as I had to resort to your UK site for info!)

Hi Ladies, just found out about the vitamin E suppositories also, and ordered them from Amazon website.

A lot of reviews from women there also. Hope they work for me.  I wanted to put a link to the website, but not sure how to do it.

How does the price compare to using a simple vitamin? If it's more costly I think I'd go with the vitamin first and see how effective it is..

It was $11.45 for a box of 24, and from the reviews it is advised to cut them in three parts. They are evidently made for this treatment of Atrophy. I saw it on another menopause forum. I live in the US and have been searching for something to relieve this. I had Breast cancer 8 years ago, and can't use any kind of hormones.

That's brilliant Sus28. Must admit I think I am doing better since I started using the Vit E. Think I started using it only a couple of days ago but already the symptoms seem to have eased. Onwards and upwards!

So glad to read that you seem to be getting some relief after a few days of use.  Just make sure you use them regularly after having 'a pee'.  I tried going 24 hours without using them as the AV symptoms seemed to have subsided but they quickly started to appear again so I am back to using them continuously.  Hope you and the other ladies continue to get relief.  Keep in touch.

Hi Gwen, Yes there seems to be some relief already. Glad you reminded us about using the capsules regularly after a pee though otherwise I can see I would have done like you did and tried not using them for 24 hours. Thanks Gwen. I hope the relief continues too. How long have you been using the capsules? Yes I will keep in touch.

Been using them for about 2 weeks now and intend continuing with them.  I have tried all sorts of creams which my Doctor has prescribed and whilst they have helped on and off, nothing has worked as well for me as the Vitamin E.

Hi Gwen, I am glad the capsules have worked better for you than what the doctor prescribed. I've only had GINEST cream and Vagifem tablets. I should use another of those tomorrow but theyve not had much effect on me so I might stop taking them and just keep going with the Vit E. God knows Gwen, apart from my bad hips leading to an hip replacement back in December, and anxiety for 3.5 years (Its been gone a few years now though) this Atrophy has been one of the longest lasting problems I have ever had! Thankfully the capsules might just be the answer. Shirley

Probably because PH of urine is high.

I see the website I shared was deleted by this forum. It wasn't a brand name, so I don't think it's helpful for them to do that. How else can we tell each other where to find info?

Yes Beverly, my urine PH is high.  I bought strips online to test it but I don't know what foods or drinks to cut out to help reduce the acid in my urine.  Anyone got any suggestions?

How about drinking more water Gwen. Hang on whilst I google it.....

It says eat alkaline foods such as fruit and veg to neutralise the acid. I would have thought fruits were acid!
