Atrophic vaginitis - Relief at last!

Hi ladies

Thought I would share my latest attempt to ease the symptoms of AV.  I stumbled upon an American website where a Gynae Doctor recommended using Vitamin E oil.  I bought some Vitamin E capsules and did as he suggested and inserted one into my Vagina daily as well as puncturing another capsule with a pin and  squeezing the oil out and rubbing it around the opening of my vagina.  After 5 days of doing this I finally started to get relief and 2 weeks on I am still using it and feel great.  I am still using Vagifem twice a week also.  Give the Vitamin E oil a go ladies.  Nothing ventured, nothing gained.

Are any of you ladies asking your doctors why they haven't suggested any of these remedies that seem to be providing relief if not cures? Is it because they don't come under the official heading of "medicine", do you think? Maybe they need to come on the site and pick up some pointers.

I'm still ruminating over whether or not to try the hormone cream my doctor recommended. Fortunately my main problem is trying to get through an exam. She says it will probably lead to more problems though. Here in the US the cream is Premarin. Sounds like you folks have it under a different name & some of you are irritated by using it.

Yes I agree Beverly, Some of our Doctors need to come here and pick up some pointers. I was using Vagifem which is a form of HRT but I stopped using it a week Sunday ago and have just continued with the Vit E Oil and the Cystocalm at the weekend. I'm actually not doing too bad at the moment. Now I am wondering if the Vagifem was irritated me too, more than it was doing good? :-)

Hi Me a, Where did you get your Vit E Spray oil? I had not thought of the oil being in a spray. That's a good idea. :-)

Shirley I had it from Amazon , thought it was easier than carrying capsules around

Soreness seem to have eased , getting some cystocalm today ,

      How are you doing x

Hi again, Thanks for that. It sounds like a good idea to me too. Yes the Vit E definitely helps with the soreness doesn't it. I got some more Cystocalm yesterday from Wilko. £1 a packet of 6 sachets. The Cystocalm helped me last weekend. There are some days I feel like I want to wee all the time, even when I've just been. And although its not sore when I wee, it feels like a sort of soreness in my bladder. Well the Cystocalm helped with this too. So I will be taking some on holiday with me. Hope they help you too.

Just went to Walgreen and ordered Vitamin E suppositories. I am very excited to give these a try. Thank you for the good news.

I think Walgreen's here in the US  carries vit E spray which is next to the capsules. I have very little itching and just insert a regular vitamin capsule vaginally occassionally (as was suggested here). I'm pretty bad about using anything very consistently. Except birth control pills...those I never forgot! Coconut oil is also soothing and smells great.
