Atrophic vaginitis - Relief at last!

Hi ladies

Thought I would share my latest attempt to ease the symptoms of AV.  I stumbled upon an American website where a Gynae Doctor recommended using Vitamin E oil.  I bought some Vitamin E capsules and did as he suggested and inserted one into my Vagina daily as well as puncturing another capsule with a pin and  squeezing the oil out and rubbing it around the opening of my vagina.  After 5 days of doing this I finally started to get relief and 2 weeks on I am still using it and feel great.  I am still using Vagifem twice a week also.  Give the Vitamin E oil a go ladies.  Nothing ventured, nothing gained.

I have just had a TVT and I hoped that would be my answer but no the symptoms are still there , but no leaking so that's a massive bonus

Will definitely try vitamin E spent so much on creams and potions

Hi Me a, Yes its such a relief to find out that you aren't the only one with this problem isn't it. I will have been suffering for a year in July but I'm thankful for the Vit E Oil. That has really helped. And also the cystocalm too. I've not been "Too bad" since Saturday but I can't believe yet that things might really improving. Wanting to wee all the time and being sore has put me off wanting to go anywhere and when I do go out, I need to know where there are any toilets. But things are a bit better now. I hope the Vit E Oil helps you too. :-)

Thanks Shirley is the cystocalm available over the counter x

I got the Cystocalm from my chemist and it has helped with what has felt like a soreness in my bladder because my urine had too much acid in it. It cost about £1.80 for 6 sachets. One of the girls on here said you can get Cystocalm from the £1 or 99p shop though I'm not sure if its sachets or tablets. I also have/had soreness because of the vaginal atrophy and the Vit E Oil helped with that. I'm not too bad today. I hope it continues this way :-)

      Thanks will try that,

is that what the soreness in bladder is, acid in urine , I really suffer with that

I can't believe I have found fellow sufferes, thought it was just me , is it because ladies are to embarrassed to talk about it I wonder

I have just had bladder repair so feeling bruised as well , but that is nothing compared to the soreness

      Xx

If I'm honest Me a, I'm not sure. All I know is that the cystocalm and the Vitamin E Oil have helped together with the soreness. Its awful isn't it. I couldn't believe it when I found fellow sufferers either. Thought I was the only one too. It really got me down. I hope your bladder is ok and the bruising soon settles down. The soreness is the pits of hell isn't it. But anything within reason is worth a try isn't it. The other thing to try was cranberry juice with half a teaspoon of bi carb in it. :-)

It is the same sachets Shirley.

i have had the same sachet from the chemist under a different name for £4 but the ingredients are exactly the same.

we spend loads of money on possible cures don't we?

i have 2 unopened replens which I will never use.

I live in DN5 area if anyone wants me to give them to you

Thanks for that Sus. Yes we do spend a lot on possible cures. Your comment about too many things being irritating is a good one too. I notice I have been better since I gave up the Vagifem too.

That's what happened with the replens. All of a sudden it started irritating me

Its not good is it Sus. I've not tried Replens as yet. I tried GINEST cream though and that didn't help at all. I've been fairly good since Saturday. I hope I am the same tomorrow too. Time will tell.....

Tell u another good thing Shirley that I do every now n then.

i have a stock of ph testers (from amazon)

they tell you what the ph oif your vagina is.

i will look them up on Amazon and let you know so you can look for yourself.

another member of this forum recommended them to me

Thanks Sus. I would appreciate that. If the pH is too high, do you use a certain cream or something to bring it back to normal?

Have a look at Eco care comfort vaginal test sticks from Amazon

Regular inspection of the vaginal acidity means an infection like bacterial vaginosis can be detected early.

there are various creams and pessaries if you do get this.infection

Hi Sus, Thanks for that. Yes any infection needs to be detected early doesn't it. The pH testers are a good idea. I had a look at them on Amazon last night before I turned my bedroom light off. Will order some today. Anything that will detect any infection early is a great idea, Thanks again.

Morning. Yes it's good to keep a few testers to hand and then you can you test yourself especially if you feel over itchy!!

Last thing I need Sus is an infection of any kind as I have a new hip and if any infection goes to it, I will have got serious problems!! Scary stuff. Not that anyone needs an infection even without a new hip or other false joint. So yes I will order some testers today. In fact I even saw something that would test your urine. Will check these things out again over a cup of coffee I think.

You are doing well on this forum

      what is it they say?

      prevention is better that cure.

actually last night I saw some cheaper ph testers on  Amazon so next time I am doing to give them a try

Thanks Sus. Yes prevention is better than cure, absolutely. Time for my coffee I think and a browse on Amazon. :-)
