Auto immune and Covid vaccine
Posted , 10 users are following.
Does anyone have medical knowledge of whether a vaccine is less effective or causes side effects in anyone with an auto-immune disease like LS?
I have had flu and pneumonia jabs this year with no ill effects and assume they protect me but given the Covid vaccine is still so new can it be trusted by anyone with autoimmune diseases?
Once again I fear I will not have any replies on here as this forum seems not to reach anyone anymore. Think I will give up on it. Anyone out there??????

Hi,
I had wondered this as well! I'm not sure there is enough research to even say its going to work on people that don't have auto immune diseases like LS.
I work with a lot of patients that have lots of different auto immune diseases. I will speak to one of the consultants and ask their opinion on it

Hi Sarb, Biscuit here. There were 140,000 people in the 6 company trials, now being overseen by the FDA. Many cohorts were represented but I have not yet seen whether or how those with auto-immune disorders were in the trials. I know older people and those with other comorbidities were included. Am waiting to read some pre-release reports from NIAID website.. As soon as I find them I will post it. I do know one thing that's different and may cause a problem and that is the fact that the Moderna and Pfizer's vaccine carry animal DNA. Some of those who received the second dose of the 2-shot regimen did get sick. Eli Lilly has filed for Emergency Use Authorization for their antibody cocktail so there's that as well
I had to change the email Sarb, so if you want to PM me, or email, use
Let's see if this goes through with what I put into it.

hi Egg
thanks for info. I would expect to have some sort of leaflet from doctors here in UK before we are offered the vaccination that will tell us of any risks. I am trusting that it will be fine and am hoping it comes soon.
I have pm you to reply to your last but if your address has changed maybe you wont receive it. Let me know.
And yes please post any other knowledge you receive about autoimmune and vaccine.

Hi Sarb,
Eggbiscuit here, again. (account trouble but think it is finally fixed)
I also did not get the vac because none of the clinical trials included people with autoimmune disorders. The drs. I have consulted suggested I wait and see. Since I have already had Covid, I assume I have some antibodies.
I would like to resume our online contact if possible. EB

hi Biscuit
I have had both my vaccinations and had no side effects. Astra Zeneca in the UK. I had no advice beforehand other than my GPs assurance that I was fine to have it. I really wouldn't want to not be vaccinated.
My LS remains stable.
Sorry to hear you had covid - that must have been some trauma. Are you fully recovered?
I really don't like this forum anymore as no one seems to reply or engage like they used to, hence my absence.

OH hi again Sarb - sorry I missed this note - glad to hear you went ahead with the covid vaccine. I too am so sorry for this unfortunate change in how the wonderful patient site USED to work. The only reason I'm here tonight is that for some reason someone found an old message of mine and the system sent me a message that popped up? anyway, it looks like i CAN now get back into this site after all this time. I really hope they see the error of their ways and return the emails. I like to hear how others are doing.
OH, and I too haven't had any untoward response re: LS because of taking the vaccine.
smiles - I'll try to come visit here again more often if you will too, okay?!

Hi Sarb,
Oh yes, recovery from the covid we had in 2019 was no problem. This forum has gone to ........you know where. I finally was able to get back on here but it was tough. Anyway, we're here. Having a lot of inflammation lately.
Glad you did not get sick from the shot but so many have, and many died as well. Our CDC publishes the report. One personal friend died the day after and several I know were in the hospital.
What is new with you?

Hiiii Sarb! I haven't been on here in ages either. I think the reason is that they, the admin, got complaints about too many emails. so instead of finding a way for those few people to opt out of emails... they shut down the entire email system so we would have to stop our day to find the website, to sign into the website and find the LS group and Then maybe be able to share our experiences and lessons learned.
I remember you, and appreciate how you helped me when it was my turn to be a newbie at this LS; so I do hope there are some experienced women here still willing to help the new ones coming on.
OH, so to your question. Yes, I've had both Moderna shots last month. And I had a flu shot last fall for only the second time in years. I really wanted to be able to see by 5 year old grandson! smiles.
If you remember back 2 years I read up on the amazing benefit of Vitamin D3 for everybody and especially for autoimmune diseases. My cardiologist encouraged me to keep my D level at least 58 ng/dl (which is as high as his lab records it) . Sooooo I felt safe to take the covid vaccine. Sarb, the only thing I got was a very low grade fever that i slept through the night with and then low energy for a day. good as new after that. Cheers, hope you see this and feel safe to go forward.

Yes, you are correct. These shots are not studied long enough. Standard review period at FDA is 8 years for vaccines. These shots only got 4 months. CDC VAERS system shows thousands of deaths and serious adverse effects. I, too, have lost people from the shots. You can find the data if you search various websites but not in the popular media

Hi Sarb,
Too late here, but, yes, I have read in the medical literature that these shots can exacerbate autoimmune conditions like LS. The shots alter the way your immune system works so it stands to reason they could make conditions worse. I have lost people to the vaccines. The CDC shows thousands of deaths on the VAERS website if you know how to look. Best, eggbiscuit
