I started on 20mg pred almost 3 years ago.  I am a 70 year old fit male and wanted to stay that way.  What worked for me, is cutting out all my candy and soda and things with refined sugar.  I also keep up with my running and other exercises.  Eat a lot of salads and fruit.  Actually have lost a little weight and only had "moon face" for a short time.  Was down to 2mg, but had minor flare and had to go up to 12mg.  Now down to 4mg again with minor issues.  I really think diet is really important for not gaining weight.

Hi Ingo! Thank you for your comment...sounds like you are really taking care of your body...and running too?? That is amazing...keep it up! I'm hoping once I get definitively dx and start the steroids I will feel well enough to get back on the exercise routine...it's so hard...sad

I agree in, I have been active all my life till PMR. Normally ride a bicycle 3-4 K miles a year, ski instructor in winter. Hoping to get back on my bike soon, I plan was to ride 80 miles on my 80 birthday in September. Walking hard twice a day trying to keep my legs going. We have to?

Amazing goal.  Keep pushing.  I found that when I start my runs I am sore, but as I continue the soreness seems to go away and I am able to run long.  Just have to struggle through the initial miles.  I hope I can still do it when and if I reach 80.  Good luck!

The prednisone was like magic.  Pain went away within a few days.  Hope you have the same results. Good luck!
