Back pain and IBS

I've recently been diagnosed with IBS after a bad bout of what I thought was trapped wind. The symptoms listed in various articles seem to bear this diagnosis out. However, nothing much is said about back pain. My IBS spasms start with bad back pain which then spreads round the right side to the front (I think it's called the epigastrium).
It mainly starts in the evenings and can end as abruptly as it starts for no apparent reason, leaving me feeling pretty tired. Otherwise I go and lie down and it eventually eases off.
Does anyone else get this with IBS?

That was 10 years ago. Since that time my back pain has all but disappeared. When I do get occassional discomfort, it it is much milder. I can usually get complete relief by eating a high fiber diet.
Hope this helps.

Hi just read your post. See that's it's over year old, but looking for advice also. GP thot I had stomach infection. However it cleared for few days and now back again. Have to go to loo after I eat, stomach cramps etc. But back ache has been an issue also. It comes & goes but very sore. Any advice on how to deal with the ibs symptoms until I see my GP again? It's making me exhausted.

I am NOT a healthcare professional, but you might want to looks at the symptoms for mesenteric ischemia. It's pretty rare, but you might want to ask your Dr. about it,
