Bad Breath Is Destroying My Life. Please Help!

I been having bad breath since i  was a teenager, I am in my mid 40's now and still have the same problem. usually gum would do the job and no problem, but now gum is not working for me any longer and my breath doesn't only smell like bad breath, it now smells like a fart. it is getting stronger to the point that someone 10 feet away from me can now smell it and people start saying "yuck someone farted" not knowing who it is so I act stupid and pretend it wasnt me. everywhere I go now I keep my mouth closed cuz if very little tiny breath comes out it can cause a big smell. please help me anyone, please. it is very depressing and sad to have to feel this way and having to stay away from people makes me feel lonely. i tried Dr Kats gargles which is considered the only cure for bad breath but even that didn't work for me. I am not a smoker, but the only time my mouth dont smell bad is when i smoke because it will smell like tobacco but i dont want my breath to smell like that cuz it is a nasty smell for me and for others. I been told that getting rid of my natural teeth and getting fake teeth or teeth implant can help but i cannot affor that. please help me, please! sad

Sttuggled with the same thing for 7 years. I used every mouthwash and I was prescribed rinses like chlorhexidine which failed to work.

      BUT I FOUND A SOLUTION

Now I use a mouth rinse with ** 1% POVIDINE IODINE**. (aka betadine)

It is sold over the counter and its worked like a charm. Its an antiseptic and will even work for candida in some cases. Its also helped with my tonsils breath and stones.

My tools are: Electric brush, Floss, Toothpaste, PI rinse, tongue scraper.

      My routine is this:

      -FLOSS!

-Put A LITTLE of the iodine rinse in a cap

-Put toothpaste MADE WITH BAKING SODA on your toothbrush

-Dip your brush in the small cap numerous times while you clean your mouth.

-Brush your tongue and the back

-Then BRUSH your tonsil and roof of your mouth. (Its electric so just let it roll over your tonsil like a carpet cleaner would!)

      -Rinse your mouth with water.

-Now you must rinse and gargle with the povidine iodine rinse. ( IT must touch everywhere so relax your tongue a few times so the back of your tongue isn't raised while you gargle. this will solve your THROAT BREATH and clean the bottom of your tonsils.

Do this twice daily! don't get so comfortable with the cure that you become LAZY!

If you like, add a mouthwash like "smart-mouth" to your routine too as a supplement. You will get even better results.

    Good morning all,

My name is Bertha and I am a 49 year old lady! I have been fighting bad breath for all my life since I was at school and I was teased for my terrible breath. I have always taken great care of myself, including an impeccable oral hygiene and being a beautiful young woman I could not understand why none of the boys at the school would invite me out or even attempt to kiss me! First time I had sex, I had to do it from behind because the young man didn't want to receive my bad breath on his face. First diagnosis I got from a doctor when I was 16 was a very hard case of halitosis! The smell of my breath was between fishy, poop and sometimes even garbage! I never smoked, I always done great physical activity, tried to avoid stinky food! Well, I have never been able to fix my problem even if now I now is most likely related to my constipation! I would really like to talk to you guys!

If you go to the dentist regularly and have good oral hygiene, I would tell you to see a doctor to make sure you don't have any stomach problems (some can cause a lot of bad breath regardless of how good your oral hygiene is). Another thing that is also very bad for breath are tonsil stones, white or yellow formations that are located on or within the tonsils, which are often hard to see, but have a very bad smell.

    hello jesse and everyone else,

The cause of bad breath can be a bad smell coming from the tongue.

Run your finger over the tongue, especially in the back, then sniff the finger. If you smell a bad smell then this is the problem and here is the solution:

    1. floss your teeth very good.

    2. brush your teeth and rinse with water afterwards. before the next step you can gently scrape ur tongue 3/4 times and rinse.

    3. get Hydrogen Peroxide 3%. There are also peroxide especially for mouth rinses. this is also stated on the packaging. my preference is this one. in the beginning the flush can be very strong. If so, you can then add 1/2 drops of water in the cap with the peroxide. Rinse your mouth well with this. lift your head back and stick out your tongue and gargle, so the peroxide gets to the back of the tongue to and don't swallow. do this for 30 to 45 seconds and spit out. Rinse your mouth well with water afterwards.

Run your finger over the tongue. The bad smell is completely gone. odorless. After flossing and brushing your teeth, rinse with Hydrogen Peroxide 3% before going to sleep and when getting up. even in the morning you no longer have bad breath.

Share this message with everyone in and outside the forum. If the bad smell comes from the tongue, which is so in a lot of cases then is the solution. a lot of mouthwash products only mask the problem for a few minutes or even make it worse. Hydrogen peroxide 3% is the way to go.

Bad breathe, most of the time, indicates that you have poor oral hygiene. So, this is the oral routine you can follow to alleviate bad breathe:

    Morning:

    Brush your teeth

Clean your tongue with the scraper

    Rinse with Mouthwash

    Night:

    Brush your teeth

    Floss

    Clean your tongue

    Rinse with Mouthwash.

Plus, I would suggest if you smoke, then don't Smoking increases the chances of gum disease, which leads to bad breath.
