Bad Breath/reflux? pnd? infection? Something else?

Hi,
I wasn't sure where to put this duscussion.
I've had bad breath (especially horrendous morning breath) for as long as I can remember. Probably for a good 10 years or so? (I'm 29)
I've also experience what I think is possible post nasal drip (tongue is always coated. Often feel mucus on back of throat and need to clear my thoat)
and some sort of acid reflux in my throat (occasional burning sensation below my adams apple)
Both the possible PND and reflux seemed to come on after already having bad breath for a numbe of years though, so i'm not sure if they're even related? The reflux feeling is fairly infrequent.
I also occasionally get tonsil stones.
I have good oral health. Brush twice per day, floss, moutwash. Dentist confirmed gums are healthy.
Yet I can taste bad breath coming on again shortly after my morning routine.
NOW, I recently took metronidazole for something completely unrelated, and to my utter amazement, my breath became as fresh as a babies! Reflief after a decade! Even my morning breath smelt of nothing.
I was so happy until I read online that other people had experienced this phenomenen, but that the bad breath returns when you stop taking the antibiotic.
I stopped taking it 4 days ago, and I think that my breath may finally be reverting back This morning wasn't quite as fresh as yesterdays. I'm depressed now that my bad breath is likely to return in full force within a few days.
I'm wondering if anyone can shed any light?
Anyone been in the same boat and found a cure?
Can any knowledge be gained from the fact that the antibiotic temporaily cured me or not?

Hi guys. Ive been suffering this BB for like 5 years now. Like most of you guys experienced, i also had coughed up tonsil stones for like several times now. Some of them are big, some of them are small like cooked rice along with my thick saliva (and it smells bad, God knows what). I think the stones are not coming from my tonsil since i had previous appointment with my ENT saying that my tonsils are healthy. ive had also some other appointments with other ENT and they kept on giving me different prescriptions like; Omeprazole, throat spray and the stuff and nothing changes. i still have this bad odor and i dont know how to deal with it since it affected my social life as to how i would interact with my classmates since I am a Law student and i really this to get fixed up.
Added, my mouth is pretty dry anytime and my saliva are pretty white which is not normal at all. i have this metallic taste that has been coming somewhere from the back of my throat and it irritates me making me feel embarassed to talk with somebody being afraid that i have BB and what they might say. Hope you have you problem fixed.

I posted a while ago about getting my tonsils reduced. This is the followup post to that.
I visited a private surgeon who reduced my tonsils with a laser. I had been having tonsil stones along with the classic symtoms of mucus in the throat, bad breath, coated tongue etc and I hoped that this would be the answer. The procedure took about 10 minutes not including a short period of recovery afterwards. It was a bit more painful than the literature suggested. This procedure is advertised as a quick and relatively pain-free experience that you recover from quickly, however I did not feel completely normal for at least 3-4 weeks after having it done.
Moving on to the results of the operation, did it work? Yes and no. My tonsils are quite flat now, and while I do get the odd tonsil stone now and then, I do not have this overwhelming taste of tonsil stone when i yawn or swallow as I did previously. I believe the surgeon melted the majority of my stones away. I never had large tonsils so a removal would be completely pointless, but they were visibly cryptic and I knew there was a gold mine of revulsion just beneath the surface. The operation worked in this regard. However I still get the post-nasal/throat mucus, coated tongue, bad breath and heartburn (mostly linked to my diet).
I have been to 4 different ENTs, both surgeons and regular doctors to examine my nose as the possible culprit. However, all of them have ruled this out after scans, examinations and endoscopies. My throat has also been looked at through a camera and appears fine. I am returning to the stomach/digestion as the new focus of my investigations. I did a blood test for h. pylori about 3 years ago which was negative but my GP said I should do a stool test as it is more accurate, but I am doubtful that I would have this, since I never have stomach pain or any of the most common symptoms listed on most sites. I honestly don't have an idea as to what this might be. My simplest guess would be gerd/lpr but i'm sure it's more complicated than that, or we would all be cured.
There's a lot more I could add but frankly who wants to read it, not me. Just as a footnote I am completely against medicine that hasn't been studied, by this I mean this new-age BS that people swear by such as colloidal silver, grapefruit seed extract and all these other unknown substances. I see the practice of experimenting with these as outright recklessness and ignorance towards modern medicine.

by 'white coating' do you mean like tonsilitis, or do you mean sort of milky-white mucus sort of gunk sticking to them? What I had appeared to be most likely just a stagnant form of the mucus that exists in my throat, allowed to sit and allow bacteria to grow freely. I am pretty sure the reason we get tonsil stones is this mucus finds its way into the tonsils and bacteria grows. Therefore tonsil stones are more of a symptom of the throat mucus, which is the symptom of our unknown ailment. To back this up, yes I still get this mucus, but now my tonsils are relatively flat, there is nowhere for it to accumulate so although my problem is still there, it is not as bad as before the surgery. I hope I answered your question.

My question is that is it still possible that these will grow outside of our tonsils? I mean deep inside out throat or somewhere?
Do you stil have those mucus that keeps on blocking your throat everytime your swallow and the smell seems awful and its very white and thick? I have those sadly.

It's unlikely that stones will form outside the tonsils. However wherever this mucus is, bacteria will thrive.
Yes the mucus is constantly in my throat, it gives me bad breath and a coated tongue. The mucus is generally clear but if I don't clear it for a while, for example when I wake up in the morning, it can be slightly green/brown because the bacteria has had time to grow I suppose. It is white sometimes but not all the time.
I do not think the problem is in my nose or throat so the most likely place must be somewhere in my digestive system.

No my mouth is in fine condition, no problems with salivary glands. I think it's safe to say you would know if you had bad breath.

H pylori test came back negative. Been prescribed omeprazole for my acid reflux. I'm going to reduce my carbohydrate while I take this medication because whenever I do this normally it reduces my heartburn drastically until I eat something like chips, rice or bread or something like that.
