I'm so sorry.
I haven't had a really bad episode that put me out of commission or with nystagmus for a few years, knock on my wooden head. But I'm always slightly dizzy. I guard myself when doing ordinary things during the day, like taking the stairs or balancing to reach into the cupboard or whatever. I really have incorporated my compensating techniques into daily life for so long that is just a part of me now.
Do you take any meds? Does the changing of the seasons affect you? I hope you feel better soon!

I am off balance and slightly dizzy much of the time. I am also 72, so don’t know if age has something to do with it. Everyday I do twenty minutes of simple meditation and beginners Tai Chi. This seems to help with the balance. The meditation and exercise does help with stress. Stress is one of my big triggers for the more serious attacks. I just take it one day at a time.
Wishing you the best.

Everyone’s symptoms are very different. When I was first diagnosed they kept treating me for an inner ear infection. Serc works well for some andnot others. When I have attacks I wished they only lasted for a day or 2 but mine last for 2 or more weeks. Which means bed bound and no life. Find a good Otolaryngologist doctor not an ENT. Is my best advise. Good luck to you!

My GP first referred me to an ENT and after seeing me he said, "You don't need me" and referred me to an audiologist and a neurotologist. Docs need to know what they don't know...know what I mean? And when it's not their area of expertise refer you to someone else. I just met a physical therapist doc who specializes in vestibular therapy (he's dating my daughter! lol) and I can't wait to pick his brain a little but our Christmas gathering wasn't the time or place.
I think one of the most frustrating things about MD is that it can present so differently in everyone. And it evolves and changes then changes back and UGH!! I'm having such a hard time with these hearing aids
I do hear better with them but they don't filter out the background noise very well and my tinnitus is worse with them in and my ears feel so full when I take them off for the night.
So disappointing because I thought they would help.

I just spoke to my husband about this and after healing up from the 2 surgeries I just had, the csf leak and get the MRI results to rule out another leak, arachnoiditis, abscess and/or infection I’m looking into this. Or it’s time for a cane but I’m only 49 and just don’t see it happening. Lol. But I need some stability.
Thanks for the insight.

Having read all these posts it would seem no one is taking betahistine. Have you tried it and found it didn’t help? I don’t have vertigo attacks or balance issues so long as I take this. I have only had Meniere’s for a year so does that mean I will have balance problems later on? I play squash and ride several times a week and I won’t be able to do that if so.
