I'm so sorry. sad I haven't had a really bad episode that put me out of commission or with nystagmus for a few years, knock on my wooden head. But I'm always slightly dizzy. I guard myself when doing ordinary things during the day, like taking the stairs or balancing to reach into the cupboard or whatever. I really have incorporated my compensating techniques into daily life for so long that is just a part of me now. smile Do you take any meds? Does the changing of the seasons affect you? I hope you feel better soon!

Take dyazide, Valium promethazine. Starting on a strick regimen of allergy meds and going to start taking something for stress.  They say it’s all related. Since being diagnosed I have tried going without meds but only worsens.  I’ve had 2 Sac decompression and steroid injections in my ear.  Injections work for about a month the 1st decompression lasted 3 years. 2nd one was done Nov 30 th with complications of a CSF so we will see after I hel. I had another surgery to fix the leak on 12/8 so I got a ways to go.  Just taking it one day at a time.

    Hello Willow,

I am off balance and slightly dizzy much of the time. I am also 72, so don’t know if age has something to do with it. Everyday I do twenty minutes of simple meditation and beginners Tai Chi. This seems to help with the balance. The meditation and exercise does help with stress. Stress is one of my big triggers for the more serious attacks. I just take it one day at a time.

    Wishing you the best.

I try yoga, maybe I should give chi ti a chance.  I’m 49, Work stress life.  Been suffering along time but diagnosed about 5 years ago.   At wits end at this point. I just want to play with my grand kids.  Lol.

Yes, I have those same balance problems. Sometimes I’m not really having a vertigo attack. I just feel woozy and kind of dizzy and if I try to walk, I have to hold onto the walls and furniture or I would fall down. So far I’m not taking any medication because I am newly diagnosed. I am finally seeing a good ear doctor next week. Good luck to you.

Everyone’s symptoms are very different. When I was first diagnosed they kept treating me for an inner ear infection.  Serc works well for some andnot others. When I have attacks I wished they only lasted for a day or 2 but mine last for 2 or more weeks. Which means bed bound and no life.  Find a good  Otolaryngologist doctor not an ENT.    Is my best advise.  Good luck to you!

Willow, Do you mind me asking what country you live in? It seems that those of us on this forum are from so many different places and sometimes the same drugs and treatments are not available. That is interesting that you went to a different specialist other than an ENT. I will look into that.

My GP first referred me to an ENT and after seeing me he said, "You don't need me" and referred me to an audiologist and a neurotologist. Docs need to know what they don't know...know what I mean? And when it's not their area of expertise refer you to someone else. I just met a physical therapist doc who specializes in vestibular therapy (he's dating my daughter! lol) and I can't wait to pick his brain a little but our Christmas gathering wasn't the time or place. smile I think one of the most frustrating things about MD is that it can present so differently in everyone. And it evolves and changes then changes back and UGH!! I'm having such a hard time with these hearing aids sad I do hear better with them but they don't filter out the background noise very well and my tinnitus is worse with them in and my ears feel so full when I take them off for the night. sad So disappointing because I thought they would help.

Mary, I’m so sorry to hear the hearing aids are not working well for you. Yes, MD is very frustrating and scary. I’m still finding my way and going to different doctors. Happy new year to you and I hope this year has some times of relief from symptoms for all of us!

You might try seeing a balance therapist. I exercises that she gave me that seemed to help for a while, enough so I quit doing them. When I start having problems, I restart the exercises. Best wishes for a better 2018 for all of us!

      Hi Nancy

I just spoke to my husband about this and after healing up from the 2 surgeries I just had, the csf leak and get the MRI results to rule out another leak, arachnoiditis, abscess and/or infection I’m looking into this.  Or it’s time for a cane but I’m only 49 and just don’t see it happening. Lol. But I need some stability.

      Thanks for the insight.

    Hi Willow

Having read all these posts it would seem no one is taking betahistine. Have you tried it and found it didn’t help? I don’t have vertigo attacks or balance issues so long as I take this. I have only had Meniere’s for a year so does that mean I will have balance problems later on? I play squash and ride several times a week and I won’t be able to do that if so.
