Band, Bypass or Sleeve

i had my appointment with the bariatric nurse and dietician last Thursday and after much consideration I had decided that Bypass would be the best way forward. I had previously had a band fitted in 2011 and it slipped so I had to have it removed. I have put back on the 6.5 stone I lost and an additional 2 stone so I had decided that Bypass was the most permanent solution but the nurse has asked me to go away and think about it as a band is just as successful as long term weight loss.

i would welcome any help on coming to a final decision. Thanks in advance.

    Hi

I totally understand! I had a band fitted 10years ago. It never worked. I had several refills with no success! Each time i was able to eat the same amount with no restriction only on a rare occasion and i mean rare occasion! ! In the end i lost weight 6 stone by myself through exercise and food control which was great but unfortunately short lived and that was 6 years ago. Since then ive put it back and more. Last year i had enough and went back to my doctor and was refered back to the biatric team. I met with my surgeon who carried out my first operation with the band. He was great i was put back on a program with them and am now having a bypass next month!! Finally having the op i should have had in the first place. So mmmy nand will be removed and a bypass carried out. SO YES is the answer to your question about going ahead with bypass. At the end of the day it is a decision you have to make yourself with your family. I hope all goes well for you and all i can say is that i feel its the best decision ive made and cant wait to start living how i want to! I know its a hard road ahead and its about how much i put into it. So heres goes and ll the best to all of us!!!

Thanks Aisha - I am certain I don't want a band and I think that a sleeve maybe enough but I am sure the bypass is the way to go. How exciting for you that you have your bypass to look forward to - I can't wait although I may have to have a few tests I'm hoping it won't be too long 😀
