Been on propranolol for my Anxiety and panic attacks

Hi guys, I’ve been on 10mg propranolol for about 4 or 5 weeks now, I don’t know if they’re still kicking in but I can’t get it out of my head that I’m having a heart attack. Any little pain I go into a panic, the pain will be at the side of my left breast and sometimes in my shoulder, but never last any longer than 3mins, and doesn’t happen all the time, mainly around the evening time?
I’ve been to my doctor 3 times and told him and he’s told me they’re just kicking in, That the tablets can effect your muscles, to just take paracetamol. I’ve had my heart rate checked, ecg, blood tests on my thyroid and everything else. It all came back fine. Please help me 😩

Hi Sophie i also take Propranolol for anxiety and mine worked straightaway but i also take an antidepressant also for my anxiety been on them both for 5 weeks now i would say personally the feelings that you're having are from your anxiety and it may be that the Propranolol alone isnt enough xx

My daughter was 3 when i had my first episode it is hard but she was my purpose my reason to keep going and i was a single parent so i was doing it all and its even harder when you dont have the energy/patience so i can fully empathise with you sweet and i could almost hear the docs saying oh god shes here again!! And A&E must have been sick of the sight of me 😀 but i got through it and you will too we're stronger than we think you just need a bit more help and support from your docs i think xxxx

It is really hard with a child so young, who doesn’t understand what’s wrong with mummy. I feel dizzy sometimes and like I’m spaced out, it’s so strange. But I just breathe through it. Night time is the worst time for me, as I’m on my own it just dawns in me and I get into a state. I listen to a hypnosis video of a night time now, which really helps me get to sleep. I just hope as the days go by I get better.
And yes I’m changing my doctors tomorrow as I don’t think mine is even bothered! Xxxxxx

It is hard yes and the dizziness and spaced out is all a part of it it is horrid but you're doing well to breathe through it night times were and still are my worst time i think everything feels ten times worse when its dark and you're alone i used to panic more coz i used to think omg what if i have a heart attack and my daughter is left alone!! Silly i know but try telling our anxious brains that and of course i never did have a heart attack lol i say to myself now if i feel a little off or weird...its ok its your anxiety and it works quite well xxxx
