Been on propranolol for my Anxiety and panic attacks

Hi guys, I’ve been on 10mg propranolol for about 4 or 5 weeks now, I don’t know if they’re still kicking in but I can’t get it out of my head that I’m having a heart attack. Any little pain I go into a panic, the pain will be at the side of my left breast and sometimes in my shoulder, but never last any longer than 3mins, and doesn’t happen all the time, mainly around the evening time?

I’ve been to my doctor 3 times and told him and he’s told me they’re just kicking in, That the tablets can effect your muscles, to just take paracetamol. I’ve had my heart rate checked, ecg, blood tests on my thyroid and everything else. It all came back fine. Please help me 😩

I have the same thing. I’ve also had lots of testing which all came back normal except for some sinus tachycardia on occasion. I also take Propanolol a few times a week 5mg as needed if my heart starts racing for no reason or anxiety. It’s scary and I wish I could make it stop. I deep breath and that doesn’t help much but I have found that the Propanolol helps within 20-30 minutes to slow my heart rate back down. I also found that if I do some cardio while my heart is pounding it makes me feel like I’m in control - nothing too vigorous but just walking briskly on my treadmill. It gives my heart a reason to beat fast and once I slow down and stop, I’ll notice my pulse return down to normal levels or at least slow down more than it was prior. I remind myself that a fast heartbeat in and of itself it typically not harmful in a normally structured heart.

That being said, I’m asking my doctor for a cardiologist referral just to make sure, ne abuse I’ve had EKGs, chest X-rays, thyroid tests, as blood tests which have all come back normal but I really want an echo done to be sure.

Good luck! I wish I had better advice just know you’re not alone!
