Bending down activities

I am 2 months away from a full hip replacement. I am trying to

complete the physical jobs at home (currently re-pointing my

patio) because I am worried that I will not be able to bend down

to do similar jobs in the future! Is this true? Is there anyone out

there post op who is managing to continue doing the same

physical jobs as they did pre op?

Also are you loaned out a raised toilet seat or do you have buy

one yourself?

I would really appreciate any advice anyone could give about

these issues

Here in Queensland Australia, you get nothing for free except surgery and elbow crutches to go home with.  Over toilet seats and extra gear you are up for hundreds. We are on invalids pensions as husband cannot work with heart failure, and I am his carer, but also have severe arthritis myself. We managed to contact church group/charity and they helped us find second hand all the gear we needed, for minimal costs.
