Joe, I can offer you this. I started taking Bete-Sitosterol on Feburary 20th, on the 25th I added Stinging Nettle root. But by the 25th I already noticed my night pitstops reducing. I always was up minimum 3 and more times than not 4 every night for the last 15 years. I thought it was probably a freak accident but since starting my maximum visits now are 2 times and 30-40% of the time I can be at 1 time per night, granted when I get up I gotta go but at least I make it till then. My normal bed time is 10pm and I get up at 5 am and the usual was every 1.5-2 hours I would be up. No science here just what is actually happening to me personally, everyone is different and I am always a skeptic, so whether its my mind or actual benefits I dont care. On March 2nd I added Pygeum, it is supposed to help the flow. At this point I cant say I have noticed any reliable differences with all these supplements in flow but will continue the personal experment. Anything improvement than using prescribed meds. I was on flomax and avodart for 4 years and this was back in 2011, I was put on by my regular dr. I had a reason come up that I needed to see a Uro dr, he asked if the medicines were working and I told him I have not noticed any difference since I had started taking them 4 years earlier, he told me to stop then. I did. These supplements have done more than the scripts ever did and a lot less money. Everyone does what they feel is right for them and for me so far I see improvement and will continue until I see nothing else happening.
What I am taking daily.
800mg Beta Sitosterol
2000 mg Pygeum
500 mg Stinging Nettle root.
I also have been taking 3mg of Melatonin
Again, these are personal results for me, I am sure you have seen everything all over the board of bragging they fixed everything to they do nothing at all. Lets face it nature cures a lot of things, scripts cure a lot of things but generally create other issues like the increased cancer risk from Avodart. Even my uro doc said he would prefer I try supplements because he doesnt want to put me back on meds.
Your mileage my vary 😃

I really appreciate your information. everyone is so quick to write off anything natural. At this time i take flomax and pomegranite juice. The juice reduces my urgency noticeably. Im going to try your suggestions.

So a follow up on using supplements, I started back in February 2019 using Beta Sitosterol and Pygeum and 3 mg of melatonin. Here we are 6 months later and I have been on that combination since. My findings:
Pretty early on I noticed a difference on trips to bathroom at night. I purchased a uroflow meter and not realizing that my flow was so low lol, the pee ran out the bottom faster than I could put it in! Now I can sustain 5ml (I think that is the measurement) but anyway that is SOOO much better than before. Also something I really hadn't noticed was that the dribbles stopped. Not sure when that happened but it must have been slow enough to not catch my attention. Originally I was using 3mg of melatonin and I think I can now attribute that to the reduced number of pit stops at night because it slowly had picked back up to 2-3 times so a couple months ago I added another 3mg. That brought me back to 1-2 trips. Down side of the additional melatonin and I can only assume this but it completely changed my bowel movements, shortly after increasing to 6mg, I started having looser movements in the morning and repeatedly. I normally wouldnt complain but they normally struck without notice! I thought maybe it was the Beta Sitosterol so I stopped it for a week and there was no change, so a couple days ago I stopped all the supplements and that cured itself. So it is either the Pygeum or the melatonin and my bet is on the melatoinin thinking that since I am getting up less at night the fluid it moving to my bowels at night. Now that I am back at ground Zero I am going to go back on the Pygeum and the Beta Sitosterol without the melatonin and see what happens.
This is just an honest review of supplements that has worked for me, I know a lot of people here say they are worthless but I wonder if they expected instant results like using a prescribed med. Whatever it makes no difference to me, it has been excellent for me and I will continue with them but in case there are some who wonder I am sharing my experience. I am 6 months in and glad to not be using flowmax or any of the others. As a side note, the Beta Sitosterol also brought down my cholesterol from 191 to 181.

Forgot to mention, I stopped the stinging nettle shortly afterwards, when I was researching these supplements using webmd, out of all of them Pygeum and Beta Sitosterol it said was likely effective, none of the others I saw said that so I dismissed them.
