BIG throat!

Hi everyone!

Maybe I was speaking too soon about how well I did at the zoo! I have a really sore throat - I thinks its my ME

And if my sore throat wasnt bad enough I will have no voice left after screaming at AT

Anyone else get sore throats - especially when they have overdone things?

I am a bit late joining this debate because I went to Manchester yesterday to see the Bodyworks exhibition. Woke up today with sore throat and cold symptoms. Was trying to decide if this was co-incidence or the ME, cos I am still new to it. Reading this I have decided it is probably the ME

Yes, Matt, I think the winter's are far worse!! We are now supposed to be in Spring but I have been absolutely freezing all this week. My nose is so cold I'm sure it's going to drop off any minute. sad

In fact, I feel so horrible today I'm off for a snooze in a minute to try and get warm - I shall do my sausage rolling bit once again and include at least one hot water bottle. Life is soooooo exciting - NOT!

Oh Matt, it's just not fair for you youngsters - I really do feel for you - at least I've had a life. Try and be positive - I had ME for three years in my early thirties and it gradually disappeared, and apart from the odd day, I went on to have twenty really ultra fit years.

I do hope this will happen for you.

Very much the same as depression Katie - for some reason many people are ignorant of the illness and look down on sufferers as something the cat dragged in.

well its strange cause for two years it was passed off by doctors and treated like it was in my head,i was once told that i had bad depression about a year ago and was asked what was wrong in my life funny thing was that day i was voted employee of the month at my old job where 170 worked so i couldnt have been that depressed to pull that out the bag but remember being in so much pain that month and just fighting on!but now its horrible that my fingers have arthritis(its def that i think there proper hurting and out of shape)and now that they can see something wrong with me that all of a sudden there telling me how ill i am with cfs/m.e!they dont have to tell me that as i should know!

i always go on rants dont i lol i am sorry! :D

Think you have a point Matt about fighting it. with hindsight I have had this ME ages but have been fighting it. Now is the time to give in and go with the flow!

    Hi everyone

Yes Melbi, I agree entirely with you. Many people who really should know better are very dismissive of depression too. It's not a case of 'pulling yourself together' or ' I know how you feel' - real depression is due to chemical changes in the brain over which we have absolutely no control. Often the only answer is medication and finding the right one is not always easy.

Stephen Fry the actor presented an excellent series of programmes explaining what being bipolar (used to be called manic depression), actually involves - as he is a sufferer. The general public need to be educated about depression just as much as they need to be educated about ME.
