My dear forum friends …

Thank you so much for your thoughts and prayers .

I am doing a  lot better today and am sure that this will continue –

My “ailment” had nothing to do with the hip replacement surgeries – well, not directly anyway –

That is why I am a little hesitant to talk about it, but since you have been with me for so long, I will share some of it –

I have said many times that this THR surgery was/is very confrontational for me – I relate to all of your emotions as I went through them myself –

This forum has been part of my life for almost 2 years –

My first THR surgery was March 19, 2015 (I can’t believe it) and when 4 weeks post-op I found this forum – Of course I had issues and nobody to ask ..

The love and unconditional support I felt I will never forget …

I live alone but because of  I did not feel alone … many dark fearful nights I was up and reading the discussions -

My 2nd THR surgery was September 10, 2015 – Again, the forum was my place to go to every day until a couple of weeks ago.

I have been in sort of poor health for a while – flu and cold and just achy –

I probably picked up some bug in the senior citizen home where I do volunteer work and got violently ill (sorry for the drama) –

I thought I had food poisoning but instead contracted the Norovirus - I was sick for 2 weeks – Then got the flu …

This all contributed to, what I call, the dark night of the soul … My hips are repaired – They were my focus for years and now I am done …

What will be my next step?

I will figure it out, or not – It is okay and I know this will pass ..

Thank you for reading and your concern -

I feel like a mother hen abandoning her chicks !!!

Big warm hug

renee

Oh Renee, it's so wonderful to hear from you again.    You have inspired so many people on this forum, and prodded me to set up my website which has helped so many now.  Thank you from the bottom of my heart for all your efforts in keeping everyone here 'afloat' and not letting us drift into dispair when things do not work out right.

    Best wishes

you have done such a great job with the web site - I wish there was a way to let  newbies know in addition to one of us mentioning it ..

Eventhough we sort of were in pain and dealing with whatever we were dealing with, we also had  fun -

Hope you are doing well, darling - I keep reading your posts

      Renee & Madla,

Not doing too bad now thanks.  Went for my second Pilates class yesterday, which is such a great method of building those core muscles that you rightly tell us all to exercise.

Looking forward to retirement soon, so much to do around the house and the garden which is now waking from it's winter slumber.  At work I am busy trying to pass on my workload and 49 years of experience to the next generation.

It's a shame there's no other way of advertising my website, but we have to abide by the rules of this wonderful forum which is provided free for us to help each other.  It's great that we had fun whilst dealing with the pain and strain of recovery.  There are many of us on this forum who owe you a huge debt of gratitude for your help and soothing words.

I keep meaning to give up posting here, but due to my 'wonky hip', I still have a great interest in THR, and the complications.  Next check-up due in May eek.

All my love to you, and that gorgeous looking cat in your picture.

I, for one, hope you don't stop posting, Graham, especially since you still have hip problems! I'm going to keep on visiting and posting until I get to 100% and then some. That still seems an impossible dream to me, but I have hope, and I get a little bit better every day.

Hi Graham, glad to see you're still posting.  I pop in from time to time too.  It's a year and 2 days since my op now eek  I still have the odd bit of trouble but nothing more than a bit of tenderness round the scar area.  Glad your wonky hip is still holding out cheesygrin

      Cels,

Like you, I get the odd twinge, but compared to before - it's great.

I remember cycling before, only using one leg to power the bike along, now I can use both legs properly cool.   Pilates is helping with the odd bit of limping, but generally so much better than before the operation.

I took cycling for granted before my problems, when it hurt I just found a way to get along with one leg.  Now cycling helps me realise just how good my leg is after THR. cheesygrin

I started cycling to work when my hip was getting really sore, because I was finding walking was so uncomfortable. When I got back on my bike after surgery, I couldn't believe how comfortable it felt! Wishing you well Graham.

      Thanks Judith,

After seeing the lady in the newspaper this morning who died after her heart valve was put in upside down, I feel quite lucky.  At least my THR is in the right way uip, even if it is at a wonky angle. eek

    Bless you, Renee.

I'm new here, awaiting my surgery on the 16th of March, and found you and the "family" here indescribably helpful in a very stressful and scary time.

I hope you heal soon, and whatever you do, please know the positive inprint you have had on so many. From me and on behalf of those that want to but won't get the chance - thank you.

All the very best and to clone your words, the very warmest of hugs back to you.

    Best wishes
