I went for my review yesterday and have no restrictions on what I do... tried to sleep on my side but found it not as comfortable so went back on my back..
I have bursitis on the right hip which is sore but not as painful as it was before I had the op.
I am walking around home without any aids... just when I go out due to having extremely bad knees that also need replacing.
One thing you must keep up with the pain meds as us Bi laterals have 2 lots of pain to fight ... our bodies were taken through some rough handling
Keep up the recovery... as they say one step forward and two backwards is the only way to get there.

Hello everyone! I had the op on 8th August, just a few days before you Elaine! I'm doing well, NO PAIN! I cannot believe the difference! I'm a bit stiff this morning because the physio therapy yesterday had me working out things I haven't moved for years! I first went to the doctors 7 years ago with a limp, but in the end I could barely walk. Now it's a question of retraining all those habits to avoid pain! It's now, legs together - head up, loosen up and try to gain confidence!

I have bursitis in my Right hip but that will go .... I have been 10 yrs complaining to GP who refused to admit there was anything wrong with my hips... no xrays were taken.
Yes walk tall, bend the knees and try taking longer strides rather than pigeon steps.

Hi Elaine, I laughed when I read your post! I'm defo on the pigeon steps! 20 mins walking is about the right amount of walking for me. I went on the exercise bike for 20 mins but pulled a muscle! What is bursitis?

Bursitis is inflammation around the new joint, tender to touch but also uncomfortable on some movements.
My husband says at times I walk like an Orangutan when walking without my crutches, as use my arms to balance.
If we haven's suffered enough from comments like that. lol

Excited to hear your experience, Maureen. I'm scheduled for my bilateral hip replacement on December 19th. Did you have the anterior or posterior approach? Where are you located? Congratulations on your progress. Looking forward to join the hippies.

Hehe, I had to look that up...it was posterior. I'm from Cardiff. Thank you. I was very pessimistic before the op, but I cannot believe the difference post op!

It is life changing! I start hydrotherapy 11th October. It's so lovely to look forward with optimism!

Today I said I would love to lay in a Jaccuzi and let it blow on my hips with full force just to try a ease them.
Having had two busy days and lots of walking and travelling I fully expected not to feel good today but surprisingly I have turned another corner and walking alot better without any aid, but only indoors..
No doubt I will suffer from all I have done at some point but the fact I have survived so far is pleasing me.

May the corners keep turning! Went out to a restaurant tonight without crutches, bit of a mistake... felt sooooo vulnerable. Very busy, people, waiters rushing everywhere. Live and learn! Very glad you are so so well. May the hips be with us! 🙂

If I am going out in public then my best friends come with me, not that I need them both but ensures others realise I have a problem... not ready for the challenge of moving out of others way yet.
