Hello fellow Bisoprolol buddies - I cannot actually believe that I didn't think of doing a search on Bisoprolol earlier as it is so comforting to have discovered this web page. I have been taking Bisoprolol Fumarate 5mg daily for the past 3 years following a frightening episode in town which resulted in my spending a week in the Cardiac ward of our local hospital. I had SVT while in hospital and the 'specialists' couldn't actually put a cause to my soaring blood pressure and rapid heartbeat. So, I've been told to stay on these tablets for life... I'm 48 now, was 45 then.

The comforting thing about reading the majority of these posts is that so many people are feeling ridiculous levels of tiredness; I don't recognise myself from 3 years ago. This isn't whingeing, just stating a fact. I have piled on the pounds - particularly blubby around my midriff - yet I eat less than ever. I am sometimes so overcome by exhaustion that I have to stop even the most trivial of chores. I have lost my 'get up and go', yet used to be so active with my three kids. I used to be so house proud, yet now can'tbe bothered other than to 'keep on top' of the housework. I used to love socialising, again, can't be bothered most of the time and when I do, I am glad when it is over. I love the peace and quiet of my own company so much more now and feel exhausted by company. Yet I AM ONLY 48 YEARS OLD!!!

I realise I am lucky to be alive, to be uncursed by serious ills, but still, it is healthy to have a little moan now and then, and gratifying to feel online empathy with other 'sufferers'. I find that my partner and children don't really understand - can't blame them, I don't truly either.

Take care one and all.

Hi, bit of a silly question, but I might have taken double dose by accident. I am prescribed to 7.5mg and think I might have taken 15mg in the space of 30 minutes. I just can't remember if I took it twice or not. Will I be ok having taken 15mg?? I would really appreciate a quick response...

    Many thanks,

    A

They will be able to connect you through to the cardiology section and inform you about the risk if any ...

Yes - like WendyBendy+ Justin said.........

If Hopital does not help............we in the States call an all-night Pharmacy... if you took them late in the day... and a Pharmacist should be knowledgeable to

help you,  However - since you wrote this about 7 hours back... the overdose most likely increased your tiredness + put you to sleep by now ...... so there... just sleep it off.... If you can take your BP, that would be an important item to tell to hospital personnell or with whoever you have to discuss this.... You might feel extra "schlump" Tuesday as well...   But I wish you the best and hope you feel o.k. soon.

I have been on Bisoprolol 10mg for quite a few years now. I can't quite remember when I started but I was diagnosed with Long QT Syndrome when I was a child and following an awful lot of scares and arrythmias, the doctors raised my dose to 10mg. I am 16 and although they have said it is an adult dose, it works very well and I can pretty much go on with my daily life as long as I take it daily. I just never know what to do when I can't remember if I took it or not.

It really is a handful to deal with when you have a faulty heart. People don't understand and they can't possibly understand. There are doctors who know what they are doing and can help you in many ways. It is just a matter of finding the right one. I don't like to complain any about it, though, and I'm not sure why.

As for being tired, I don't notice it as such but I definitely can't run for more than 4 seconds without becoming really breathless and exhausted.

Hello, I am on Bisprolo 2.5mg and have had every side effect on the list, the most unconfortable are the breathlessness and the pains between my shoulder blades. It is very uncomfortable to walk for any distance. The strange thing is that I can ride my bicycle without any of these symptoms. It's an electric bike which means that I never have to exert myself too much. I use the motor for hills and if the wind is against me. I am 67 and ride 5 miles to work and back every weekday and I reckon that I only use the power assistance 30% of the time. I don't get breathless or suffer any back pains. This is a great way to ensure I get exercise without the problems I get when I walk.

I too suffered from the side effects of this med. I eventually was put on 10 mgs. Walking was a nightmare as was the zombie like head I suffered everyday. The tiredness was so bad! It took 4 years for me to find a GP to change this to atenolol. Same problems again! After taking 100 mgs I'm now  on 25 mgs...doc approved but only at my suggestion! I'm now reducing this to 12 mgs! I've not been back to my GP. I regularly check my pulse and blood pressure. Am I worried....well yes...but I can now walk, think logically and feel I've got my life back. I'm still on 2.5 mgs rampril and still have really bad backache which is fine when I sit down.

I hope you have a good GP and one that has time to listen care and treat you as an individual. Fingers crossed for you

Hiya, I've had really bad leg pain! At first I thought I had sciatica! My legs are really heavy and painful. I thought my circulation was compromised as I'd been a smoker for along time. Last March after several visits to a& e with chest pain and given ECG I was told I had acid reflux and prescribed lansoprazole. However after a night of severe pain I was taken as an emergency to have arterial stents x2. A horrible experience !!! Anyway I put on various drugs including bisoprolol! Now my doc says this could be causing my problems. My legs are so painful, A good shopping trip is out of the question. I now reduce the dose not handy when the drug is keeping my B/P under control! It used to be only on incline I had pain now it's even at rest I have nagging aching hips and legs. I am 50 and don't want this forever!! Although I work, I'm a nurse, I feel quite limited in my activities. I feel a somewhat depressive element to my "predicament" it better to stay put than admit I cannot manage!!! Unfortunately the medics can fix some things but create others! Hopefully find a solution soon, I let you all know!!

Wow am I glad I found this.

Funnily enough I was watching Doc Martin on ITV last night when he had to rush to a seriously ill mother and he went mad when he found out she was using her Sabutamol inhaler and taking Beta Blockers!!He said it can cause muscle pains and one does the oppsotie of the other!!!

A combination I have been on for a few years myself!!!

I was at first forced on 10 mgs of Bisoprolyl, but I turned into a zombie!

I have settled on 3.75mgs now,but I am still zombified and with all my other pills, feel rotten msot days AND THE PAIN I'M IN!!!

Not to mention I hardly eat,yet I gain weight!!!

I am so relieved to have found this page! I am 24 and have been on 5mg daily of bisoprolol for about 6/7 months since doctors found out I had problems when I was pregnant. They found it was arrhythmia(irregular heartbeat). My son is almost 3 now. Since being on these tablets though I have struggled to get up in the morning, I mean literally struggled, I very rarely get out of bed before 11 because my body is so exhausted. I sleep 8-14 hours a night and still fall asleep during the day. It's causing so much stress for me and others around me as they just don't understand me when I say I'm exhausted. It's like a whole new feeling of exhaustion. I have tried everything to get myself up and get more energy but I feel like these tablets are draining me! I'm only 24 I shouldn't be this tired at my age. I'm desperate to be a better mum to my son and do more things with him but I'm just so exhausted all the time that I struggle to do anything. I used to be able to get up at 7am with my son and cook breakfasts, get the housework done and do things with him and we'd have proper home cooked meals everyday but I just can't do it anymore through sheer lack of energy! I'm hoping to get a doctors appointment and see about coming of these tablets to see if there's any improvement because I can't live like this anymore. It was helpful reading others comments though because I now know I'm not the only one! No one around me seems to understand exactly what I'm feeling like but some of you do!

You are experiencing what this site is all about and there are only a couple of things you can do.  Firstly and more immediately, try taking the drug at bedtime rather than the morning so that you sleep away the direct 'hit' from it.  Secondly and more importantly, keep that appointment with your doctor and speak up for yourself, telling him you believe this drug is responsible for the loss of your quality of life and demand a change to another or reduction at least to begin with.  If he or she disagrees with you or is not cooperative, then say you have researched it yourself and there is a wealth of evidence that many (but not all) experience the same symptoms and this is now recognised.

Most of us who have had this experience have now managed to effect changes one way or another, sometimes meeting resistance, but the only way is to speak up and insist on change.

Yes, my friend.  I have had Af for 15 years or so... hospital stuff.   Advice never do Warfarin, Pradaxa is the newie.Ablation in the new year hopefully.  Old meds (aspirin sotalol)  fine for 10 years.  big af then change. Bisolol gives me bizzare in and out of sleep dreams (half awake terrors) sometimes makes me worse when i know i have to go to bed so spend time cat napping.  Doc says could be a prob with Amioderone  which is a nasty drug in itself.
