Hello fellow Bisoprolol buddies - I cannot actually believe that I didn't think of doing a search on Bisoprolol earlier as it is so comforting to have discovered this web page. I have been taking Bisoprolol Fumarate 5mg daily for the past 3 years following a frightening episode in town which resulted in my spending a week in the Cardiac ward of our local hospital. I had SVT while in hospital and the 'specialists' couldn't actually put a cause to my soaring blood pressure and rapid heartbeat. So, I've been told to stay on these tablets for life... I'm 48 now, was 45 then.
The comforting thing about reading the majority of these posts is that so many people are feeling ridiculous levels of tiredness; I don't recognise myself from 3 years ago. This isn't whingeing, just stating a fact. I have piled on the pounds - particularly blubby around my midriff - yet I eat less than ever. I am sometimes so overcome by exhaustion that I have to stop even the most trivial of chores. I have lost my 'get up and go', yet used to be so active with my three kids. I used to be so house proud, yet now can'tbe bothered other than to 'keep on top' of the housework. I used to love socialising, again, can't be bothered most of the time and when I do, I am glad when it is over. I love the peace and quiet of my own company so much more now and feel exhausted by company. Yet I AM ONLY 48 YEARS OLD!!!
I realise I am lucky to be alive, to be uncursed by serious ills, but still, it is healthy to have a little moan now and then, and gratifying to feel online empathy with other 'sufferers'. I find that my partner and children don't really understand - can't blame them, I don't truly either.
Take care one and all.

Yup - that is the effect the Bisopralol has on me too.....these dratted GP's and their "non-touch- technique" .....they never actually examine you and then expect to be able to diagnose what is wrong...grrr
I have refused point blank to take STATINS ever again and am gradually reducing the Bisopralol - with my GP reluctant agreement! Why on earth he put me on the maximum which is 10mg of the stuff I don't know and when I queried it - he tried to blame the consultant cardiologist - but I was ready for that as he had put me on the stuff many months before I was ever seen by the specialist. That caught him out - so he then agreed to lower the dose. They want me on warfarin as well - but again I have refused .
I just still feel like I am plodding through treacle and my "gait initiation" is so awful these days I am forced to walk with a stick when out .
All my spinal scans and CT scans etc have been entirely normal - which annoyed my neurologist no end as he was convinced I had been having TIAs....tough luck - nothing showed up in the brain scan - well I always knew there was nothing between my ears.....LOL
So - it is back to the drawing board yet again and nobody wants to know about the possibility of it being all due to the Bisopralol - and there is no direct equivalent folks - I have researched this very thoroughly and had various cardiologists and physicians advise me that any other drug is not as good as Bisopralol which is cardio-specific for my kind of PAF.
So I plod on - nowt else for it apparently -but I will keep on reducing the dose of the stuff - hopefully!!
I am just about to try 5mg having been on 7.5mg for about two weeks - so fingers crossed!
Never give up the unequal struggle folks - there is always hope!!!!

I take just 1.25mg and still have the side effects, but this drug has fewer nasty side effects than other beta
Blockers I have taken recently, it's just a question of finding the right one for you, and having an understanding GP or cardiologist.

an appt with another GP in the same practice. I am sceptical of finding any doc or cardio doc who will listen!
Thankfully I can read stuff on here.

is awful and i feel ok when i sit down. Also do you have a/fib all the time and what is your highest pulse rate. Mine is anywhere between 80 and up to 120 bpm. blood pressure is ok--I think. Do you take aspirin or
warfarin. I don't want to get on the warfarin yet. I'm 67 by the way. cardio said it was rec for a/fib patients over 65. Thanks for listening.

I can't comment on the drugs companies and doctors, I only say I feel my Gp has my best interest at heart and would never prescribe something wrong for any patient. I trust the Gp completely.
