Don't Dr google its not good for your health ;-) Ive been there!

The doctors really have no idea how annoying these side effects are.

Hi Mardi, whilst I can see the dangers of "Dr Google", and the health professionals dont like you using it, it does have its uses and can be of considerable help to some.

My remaining symptoms after coming off Bisoprolol were life changingly bad, the NHS would do nothing for me except tell me it was co-incidence as Bisoprolol comes out of your system in 12 hours, that it must be anxiety.

As time was marching on regarding losing my job from being off sick for so long, I had to use Dr Google myself.

I figured out that Bisoprolol had caused me Autonomic Instability, I even found a site from a neurological medical equipment manufacturing company that beta blockers can cause Autonomic Neurapathy, so I even presented my GPs with the answer.

Of course this confounded them as it is beyond their level of training, so it took me months before I got a cardiologist to listen to me.

So he referred me to the Neurological hospital in London, where sure enough, I was found to have developed exactly what Dr Google had told me, Autonomic Instability.

When I go to my GP and see them at their computer, I think thats who they use these days anyway.

Have too agree on that also Peter. It can also be informative.

We are an advocate for our own health and often have to research ourselves. The GPS will just brush it off.

It sure is. Its impacting my life a lot. I have an appointment in July we shall see

Yes, as soon as I took a minimum dose of Bisoprolol I turned into an old man, a drunk zombie, total exhaustion like I have ME.

Been off them a year now, I was only on for 3 months.

The symptoms have remained however, turns out they disrupt your Autonomic Nervous System by blocking adrenaline receptors in it and when you stop taking them, the ANS is so sensitive, its doesn't always return to normal.

So I am in the last stages of losing my job, and am pretty much housebound now.

The worst thing is the NHS must not what these drugs can do, but if you get as ill on them as I, the NHS will refuse for the longest time to fob you off by saying it is just a co-incidence you got so sick the day you started taking Bisoprolol, but wont actually look for what else is making you so sick, or the other fob off is "anxiety".

Took me about 7 months before I found a decent cardiologist who would listen to me and so referred me to an Autonomic Neurologist who told me I now have Autonomic Instability.

    Its incurable.

    Hi

Same story her I am afraid.

In UK so NHS the provider.

     AF for 15 years, 24/7.

Originally Sotalol, for HR, then swapped to Bisoprolol 2.5mg. Never really noticed a difference between the 2.

Bisoprolol is supposed to be be a more Heart target beta blocker than Sotalol, but still reduces the adrenaline

hence the slow down of reactions and tiredness.

Different age to you at 70, but same thing applies. Always tired after about 12noon. Lethargic, cramps in the feet, tired muscles. No concentration, fortunately retired.

I suppose it really depends why you have been given it, if for high BP with no other heart conditions I would question why......there are many drugs for high BP....Ramipril for example.

HR usually steady at 70 bpm, but always in AF.

Also take Lipitor and warfarin, ramipril and aspirin, so a good cocktail to cause all sorts of issues.

I was put on it purely for high blood pressure which I also thought was crazy. I'm living in the states right now born and raised in britain. I was thinking maybe its just how they work here but apparebtly its not just here. My bp was 188/92 they thought I was having a heart attack. All tests were negative and these tablets are what I was given. Its making me so depressed. Seems theres not one person with any good to say about this drug

I was on that nasty med for about 3 months.   I was taking it for tachycardia.

Felt like crap.  I could not get off the sofa.  My hands and feet were so cold.  And it lowered my bp and heart rate so much.  I was also taking another med for blood pressure.

I had to go for my heart ablation and  was told to stop it 5 days prior.  I asked is that okay to just stop, EP specialist said not problem.   BUT it was a problem.  I went through huge withdrawals.  But i did not realize at the time that was what it was from.  Because of the anxiety and physical stuff I was having, I was put on 2 types of anxiety meds ( one being a benzo)....Also weaning off those 2 meds took 10 months and I finished them in December.  Still going through withdrawals.   Hardest think I have ever done.

Sorry to hear that. I truly dont understand why i was put on this medication. I was never told other then I have high blood pressure. I hope you get back to yourself soon. I'm almost wanting to just stop them

Hi Jade,  No, you're not being paranoid in the slightest. I've been taking Bisoprolol for nearly seven years now along with Warfarin. I wasn't so tired when I first started on a low dose then gradually built up to the 10mg a day I take nowadays. And oh, the tiredness and the can't be bothered doing a thing feeling are common side effects of Bisoprolol. So, you're not alone with how you feel. x

That is good to hear Thank you. Although it seems many people have other heart problems hence why there on this horrible medication. Apparently I was put on it just for high blood pressure. I'm so confused. I hate feelinh so bad everyday. Between the joint pain and tiredness I feel like I'm wasting away lol x
