Bisoprolol Side Effects

Hi All,

I’m wondering if anyone has had side effects frim Bisoprolol and could share what they were?

Ive been on Bisoprol now for 12 months and have been suffering insomnia among other issues. My cardiologist and GP refuse to change medication, not believing  in Side effects and seem to think I’m on the right track with the right  medication after my Stent last January.  I differ and believe that I could have progressed much further with without insomnia.

I’m just so frustrated now,  it has effected me for too long. Any comments or advice would be appreciated

Thank you,

Mardi

    Terrible and getting worse.

I was actually feeling good after my stent have now gone back to feeling worse.

Recently doc has offered a change to atenolol or nebilet. i've been researching and all beta blockers have the same side effects but im wondering if its worth trying

Anything must be better than Bisoprolol, I was on it 9 months and I never felt so awful day and night.  Give atenolol a try, it may suit you better.  I think I was on them years ago they dropped my blood pressure and heartbeat too low, I could barely climb the stairs I felt so weak.    My son has the same problem as me, palpitations and ectopic, he is 49 but only takes them when his heart takes off for a while, mine got worse as I got older now 71, going for ablation next Wednesday and terrified.

Our practice nurse had an ablation was fine, try not to worry.

I am on 7.5mg of bisoprolol since last year.  I am constantly tired and I used to be so on the go!  I still do but so tired.  Happy to sit more than I ever did before.  I thought it was just me, also i have gained weight always need to lose weight, and started Slimming world but its so slow yet Im following the plan, Im sure many think I'm cheating!!!

I can't believe I didn't think these pills were causing me to be like this.  Ive just looked it up and came across this, I'm shocked!!

I need to speak to my doctor and get this sorted, Im desperate to lose weight and can't believe this is what has been holding me back.  and the tiredness is unreal yet I never get a full nights sleep, sometimes awake for hours.

sorry to go on so much.  Any advice on what I should ask my doctor for instead

OMG The insomnia and weight gsin is hideous

all you can do is ask for an alternative which is what I am at right now considering an alternative

Is this one the same a Bisoprolol. I do not hear many good things about the beta blockers, unfortunately at the moment they are necessary for me.
    • Posted

Yes its the same. These beta blockers are all the same .

Hi I agree. I do not know what else to say except perhaps considering getting other expert cardiology opinions to see is there is an alternative treatment. Technology is changing and improving all the time and tomorrow could bring a new perspective on the situation.

Never say never. Keep all options and avenues open.  Do you have a cardiac arrtymia?

Just to get a second opinion perhaps. Perhaps the pharmacy dept can advise on doses of beta blockers, the usual, average dose. It may be worth a try.
