OMG Today was my day!!!
Surgery was last Thursday and Saturday and Sunday I tried cutting back and spacing out my pain meds...big mistake since I had to spend the first part of the week trying to get ahead of the pain.

Hello there
I am 9 weeks post op and the first week whenever i saw anyone i would cry! And blubbing is out of character for me. At a second week catch up with the surgeon i cried after that...my husband was bewildered and asked what was wrong and said this wasnt me, my response i dont know.
I had many wobbly moments and never anticipated the possible significant psychological impact that this would have emotionally and mentally....the irony being i am a paid professional to listen to and help others....
If you had asked me up until recently if i was happy that i had had this done my answer would have been negative....which based on evidence is quite irrational.
There has been an underlying anxiety low level that something may go wrong during my recovery which the reality is its going really well. so i wish you all the best, acknowledge the feelings and be on the lookout for the daily improvements maybe keep a note book initially to track progress! Be kind to yourself this is big stuff but your mind and body are amazing!! x

Hi. I've not yet had my op but give read it's quite common for hippy s to get upset post op and for a bit of time after. It's a big surgery and it takes a lot out of you plus most of us been in a lot of pain and fairly immobile pre op so I'm sure all of that plays a part too. Main thing is it will go and you'll feel so much better. That's what I'm looking forward to. I've even got myself a new pr of walking boots for all the walking I'm hoping to do. Lol .
Best wishes x crying always eases the heart x

Yes, several times. I got frustrated at how long the healing was taking. Now, 14 months later, I often forget that I ever had the procedure done. Only time I think about it is when I am going through security. Be patient with yourself. This too will pass. And if you need a good cry, go ahead and indulge. It can be therapeutic!

not at all. Bit like the post baby blues, not to be confused with PND, , a high its all over and you have got there, followed by the tears for a few days. I is apparently common after major surgery, but you are not often pre- warned.

The other thing that hit me is that 2 years ago when I had my TLHR I was dealing with my mother's failing health. The day before my surgery was the last time I was out with her. My surgery was 2/2/17, she was hospitalized 3/9/17, and passed 4/26/17. I now realize how emotional this time of year is for me and the calendaring is on point.
I'm not sorry I had the surgery.....its just a lot on many different levels.
Hang in there 😘

hello
i am almost 3 weeks on after my tlhr and actually didnt cry yesterday !
i have had several wobbles brought on by feeling sorry for my self , lack of sleep , medication side effects and pure emotional trauma going from being a strong independent person to having to ask for help and being driven AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAGH
many reasons to have a cry
its all part of the process so i say let it out -
it will get better
take care xxxxx

This is normal after all you body has been sawn and glued back again. First day back at home I thought I had been beaten up.
Later became angry and frustrated not being even able to lift my leg. Its all part of the recovery process. You will get there

Aw Cazy, go ahead! Its understandable after what we've been through! I'm 3 weeks post-op today and have been tearful over everything: fear, frustration, others kindness! First couple days i felt so relieved and motivated but once home, day 3, i had a complete meltdown when i saw the toilet riser and frame, the ugly special chair, etc I lost it! Felt like a crippled old lady (i'm 57) and was angry at my situation Cried buckets, swore and was completely unreasonable until my bf made me see the funny side. Surprised he stuck around tbh! I was also told years ago after first spine op that anaesthetic can leave you feeling emotional for quite a while and not to worry about 'dip' days. We've got this! x
