I want add I'm quite healthy and didnt loose any weight recently... What may be the reason... Should I conduct my GP again???

Is it normal to spit up mucus or spit and it have little back hairs in it?

Hi Alvia, i am having the similar problem. Though i may not know what are the extents of your condition, I would like to relate that I am 28 year old male, non-smoking and had been finding hairs in my mucus/spit occasionally from time to time for the past 5-6 years, especially after waking up in the morning

I have been living with slight complications in my nose (i can't definitively it as sinusitis or so), cold, dust and seafood will agitate my nose to be runny, plus my caruncle will itch and slightly swollen (part of my eye will turn red as the result). I previously had it check many years back with the local government clinic, only to be treated with anti-histamines for a certain period of time, and never continued since I do not want to be drug dependent It occurred to me to Google this anomaly, only to find your post here in Patient.Info, hence I have been browsing the net to find the most fitting situation to mine. I am yet to seek a professional to explain this condition to me, hoping that this space may provide an early insight on my current condition

Its not a normal every day occurrence.

If you have a diagnosis of COPD and this happens you should check in with doctor..

If you are a smoking you likely will be coughing up tar, not good.

If doing a lot of passive smoking, living in a high pollution area, working in the building trade or similar.

All of the above check in with your doctor.

      Are you diagnosed with COPD?

Have you figured out what the issue is yet? I have been coughing up black specks almost every morning for the past 6 months. Chest x-ray was clear and sputum culture came back with some type of rare fungus hyphae. My primary doctor is sending me to a Pulmonologist.....my appointment is in 2 weeks. I live in Georgia and quit by office job to be a stay at home mom about 3 weeks before this started. This is driving me nuts....I know is not right have black stuff come up....I am ready for an answer.

I've been seeing little dark gray or black flecks in clear phlegm too. I've only noticed it for a couple of months though. Same thing, clear xrays, no suspicious levels in standard blood work. No one has mentioned examining the stuff, that sound easy and quick, not to mention less expensive than the chest ct they're sending me for next. I didn't see anyone in this thread that confirmed what it is and what they did to make it go away. I'm rooting for a fungus though! 😉

The CT scan came up with nothing, but after requesting the sputum cup, the results came back as a heavy growth of Pseudomonas aeruginosa! The pulmonologist said it's very uncommon to have colonized bacteria like this with clear lungs. I'm on a 14 day course of Levofloxacin to kick it.

Thank you for sharing this. I would really like to avoid expensive scans and tests. It has been so hard to find anyone else online with my symptoms, and now that I have an idea of what it could be, I will ask my doctor for a sputum test. Can you tell me anything else, such as how you got infected in the first place and how the treatment worked? Thank you!

    Hello

I was doing dome research and came across this site and I am curious about the diagnosis of fungal infection. for almost two years now I believe i have s systemic fungal infection. Unfortunately the doctor I had didn't agree He didn't do any tests either. I live in Washington State and doctors here don't believe its possible in the US Now to add to this, I'm a 51 yr old disabled mother of 4 kids but my youngest is the only one I care for since my other children are adults My immune system is and was compromised prior to thinking I had a fungal infection In April 2018 I was evicted because I couldnt afford my apartment anymore without help. So now I've been homeless over a year and a half while i sent my daughter with her own medical issues to my sisters My health isn't good and I've had worsening medical issues that have left me scarred because its causing rashes and dark brown splotchy skin, especially on my face. I used to see my doctor or one of many specialist 2-4 times a week and was on over 10 medications, 2 of those were potent narcotics. Once my doctor knew I was homeless the care I recieved went from being treated with respect by my doctors for my complex medical conditions as well as mental health into having no doctor and left with no choice but to go through withdrawl of all my medications. alone and afraid. Now I'm disregarded while I'm treated inhumanly by doctors and hospitals. The only thing they want to believe is that I'm using drugs after all I'm homeless so that is their belief. I have no history of drugs in my record and I was drug tested regularly in order to receive my pain meds. Why that was the first option isn't clear to me .The rashes and scarring is also because of the 3 other skin conditions I have and because I am homeless and extremly stressed and exposed to the weather and cant shower everyday like before being homeless. The frustraition and severe depression on top of my PTSD,Bipolar severe reoccurring depression anxiety and panic attacks makes life very diffacult.

How were you able to get these tests without your PCP believing you were dellusional? I need help but no one will listen. Now I fear I will die and have seriously considered suicide due to the embarrassment of bring homeless and seperated from my daughter snd all the discrimination. What I see in the back of my throat scares me as its not suppose to be there and its causing me to gag and choke. I feel the hairs and they are different sizes to plus the cycts with a sore near my joints in my hips shoulders and neck. I have documented this and have pictures videos as well as other people that have seen it to . But posting these wont help me get diagnosed but it will shock you . How big are these hairs? Lastly in August my Emergency brake broke. While tearing apart my dash to release it I found a dead Rat or Squirrel that died and was covered in fungus. My research shows that fungus wasnt my only issue but instead the gases and molds that were fumigating my van where I slept could kill me due to the expossue to the gases and from the breakdown of flesh into liquid from the decaying animal while I didnt have a clue. I know I sound crazy and now I am so scared and fear my daughter or others getting this . I almost lost my vision because they are in my eyes to

Barbie, I'm in the States, too, but in Texas. You are dealing with a cascade of issues, each overwhelming on its own. I have never heard of the Samaritans operating here and they are not on my list of contacts to give out but it can't hurt to try them. There is also the National Suicide Prevention Hotline 1.800.273.8255. Please call either or both organizations.

You might have to hold, but it can be worth the wait. You didn't say where you are in Washington. If you are near a large city, they will have resources for the homeless that can help sort through your issues and set priorities for what to tackle first, along with connecting you to medical care.

Please please call one of the hotlines. Sometimes they transfer your call to someone in your own state who may have lists of local help.

      You are in my prayers.
