Bleeding after surgery

3 weeks out from prolapse bladder surgery, interior and posterior wall surgery and spotting fresh blood. I had a hysterectomy years ago, so I'm worried about the fresh blood

Hi it could just be where stitches are starting to loosen and if you move about it over stretch it pulls a bit. I was still having spotting at that stage but if the bleeding gets heavier and no longer spitting is see your GP. I am now 11wks post op. After the bleeding stage I got quite a bit discharge which I was told was normal but now it's all gone. Take it easy and told overdo it or else your body will tell you with rewards or pain and discomfort. That's how I know when I have. Still have pain now. Hope this helps.

No problem. That's the good thing about this forum.
As I said I'm 11wjd and atill get pain so don't be surprised at this stage when you reach it if you're still having pain/discomfort. It can be very frustrating as I'm due back to work in 2 wks and worry I'm not ready. It's a very long healing process and no one tells you what to expect and others who haven't been through it don't get it. Take care. X

Hi Fi-45,
Not been on forum much lately, on holiday, just wanted to say that have been walking most days. Overdone it my 2nd day and had too chill out on my 3rd day, but have been OK rest of week.
Hubby sick fed up being reminded about repair, ' like he needs to be reminded '.
Any how usually repair is top of all pains, but now complaining of ligaments on feet, especially my right foot had collapsed in steps years ago and due to long recovery and suddenly longer walks foot acting up, chemist here offering a sports gel saying it's better than ibuprofen, €24- euros??? So suffering, foot in bucket of cold iced water.
Just feel that it's great that foot pain is taking priority over repair and that at last repair is recovered enough to be much less of a problem now ( that is as long as I limit amount of walking etc) , swimming regularly in smaller amounts through day is also doing a power of good.
17 weeks post-op is a very good place to be!
Phyl x???

So pleased you're finally getting there. I want to start swimming but at my 9wk post op appt I was told I was still raw at top of repair so don't want to go yet for risk of infection. So unsure when will be ok without having an internal which wasn't pleasant. The past 2 days I've been getting calf pain so keeping eye on that. Not constant. Just intermittent. Suffering with heavy ache all the time mainly down right side of pelvis area (prob where posterior repair is but its getting me down every time I try to do anything. Feel like Ive took a step or 2 back as far as being active is concerned.
Anyways enjoy rest of your holiday. Take care. Xx

You will feel a big difference over next few weeks, as each week goes on you will be able to do more and each time you overdo things you will recover much quicker and any nippyness will be less, you will eventually realize that you are for the most part back to fairly normal!
Just add a little extra every day and try not to overdo things.

Hi Fi-45,
Many thanks.
I'm sure the posterior repair is mainly to the left, I'm sure Matron has said that.
I get occasional pain down right side at back and down my leg, and knee, almost sure it's form of scatica where nerve gets trapped due to pressure, I can't sit too long or be horizontal for too long on that side.
I also kept getting achs and pains in pelvic/ abdominal areas but think it was due to being a little mobile after long recovery, my muscles being used and stitches being stretched after such a long time doing very little.
Anyhow do hope your wound at top of repair heals quickly, I'm sure by 12 weeks should be much better, a few weeks makes a big difference.
Take care,

Hi Gillian,
I'm 12 weeks and still burning underneath, don't worry love, It's normal, I'm still swollen at the sides, and trying not to sit on it, but can't always be avoided.
I'm stinging and burning right at the back where the stitches came down to the perineum, it seems to be stretching, is that what you feel?
It's just taking it's time to heal and get strong, you're not unusual, just a worrier??

Thank you for responding, I was starting to panic a bit, just want it all to be right, if you don't mind me asking do you feel dry and if you do are you using anything X

No dryness yet but I had a total hysterectomy at same time and have been put on hrt so that may be helping. Before op I used to be very wet all the time but had stress incontinence which has been sorted with a tvt so it's great not to be wet and have to wear liners all the time. X

I'm using cream, on the outside, I just haven't healed enough yet and when the tissues stretch that have been stitched they feel very thin, and sting, and have had tiny spots of blood after sitting awkwardly,

Hi Gillian,
Stinging is just where stitching is/was stretching. I try ed my best to avoid too much stretching or walking to fast which seems to cause nippy feeling. Still gets like that when hubby and daughter rushing about like there going to miss something, they keep complaining I'm too slow which starts me off about repair again!
??????
I'm sure you will be fine still need to keep listening to body even when recovery well on!
Your doing well, look after yourself.

Gillian, phyl is so right when she says it's an isolating recovery. You'll remember I've mentioned many times just how long this recovery takes although I know it probably doesn't help at the moment. However I've spoken to a Urogynaecologist friend/colleague of mine today and told him just how you and many other ladies feel and he said until I joined this forum he just didn't realise how ladies felt so as he's on many groups and forums as part of the Royal College of Urogynaecologists he said he's going to to push for all doctors to be very clear just what the effects are. In fact he's putting it on the next meetings agenda. I've learnt so much chatting to you all via this forum so I'm also pushing very hard for more clear information to be given prior to and after the surgery. Remember Gillian we're all here for you and you can message me anytime xx

i went to the caravan which is 1 hour 45 mins and sat up and in the car all the way back and by the time I got home I felt like my insides were swollen, going in the bath now to ease it off but I need to start getting back to normal
i am very frustrated with the recovery.
