Bleeding after surgery

Posted , 7 users are following.

Looking for some reassurance. 8 days post op and I'm bleeding quite heavily from my navel. Went to a&e and they just said it's normal. No infection which is good but the other incisions barely bled at all! I'm back at work next week and really worried I'm still going to be soaking through my dressings. I'm self employed so no one will make any allowances for me. Anyone else had this problem?

Thanks for all your comments. I'm still bleeding through the dressings but feel completely fobbed off by the hospital. Think i will call my gp on Monday. I have been staying in bed as if i do anything other than lie on my back, I bleed. This is aggravating a long term back problem so I'm feeling very low. I'm now 10 days post surgery. There is no aftercare for this surgery in the UK. I really don't know whats going to happen.

Hi Jo, don't forget its bank holiday on monday, my gp surgery isn't open so you may want to go to a minor injuries unit and they'll clean it up and redress it for you. Its obviously bleeding alot still after 10 days, have you got another hospital close to you that you can go too or just the one. I would contact your surgeon's secretary on Tues and tell them whats happening. Good luck
