Blepharitis and depression

Made a few posts I here before about my blepharitis but now I feel like I'm at the point of no return with it.

I've got another flare up on the way and it's dragging me down physchologically. I'm suffering from depression now because of it. I feel sad all the time and want to cry. I have to be honest and say that I'm having thoughts that not being alive would make things easier.

The only thing that ever works for me is antibiotic tablets but I've been told I can't be on them for the rest of my life. The last doctor I saw didn't care and prescribed me drops that never work for me.

My partner says I need to see a Dr about my depression but as there's no cure for my blepharitis I don't see the point? No matter how much counselling I could have it wouldn't change anything. I fear that I'm going to be constantly depressed.

I can't go on like this anymore. This illness is destroying me and its beat me

my heart gos out to yo as i have the same condition. I'm finding relie by using a squirt of no more tears baby shampoo, and five drops of tea tree oil. I put both in my hand, lather it up and wash my facce , making sure my eyes are closed well. I scrub my eyes along with my face, then rinse with warm water, thenapply non preservative eyedrops. Then i apply a gentle natural lotion over my face. I always make sure that none of these products get in my eyes.. Hope this helps some ho. You just haveft to research and try different things, but make sure you don't put anything near or in your eyes that would harm them. smile Dena

    Hi,

I feel your pain and suffer with this condition daily.  It is no way to live and it is so sad that these doctors have no sure for this.  I have been at the end of my rope too and feel like ending it all is better than feeling this way everyday. I push on each day with the wetone and ice and heat packs and just keep hoping and praying for sone reilef, some cure, some new procedure.  No one understands how much this brings you down, how much it hurts even people on this board that don't have it this bad.  I feel your pain, I am there with you everyday.  It sucks and is the worst curse I can think of.  All I can say is hold on for a cure and hope these billion dollar drug companies think of something.  Be strong and keep hope alive.

Thank you to everyone for your posts.

I was recently diagnosed with this horrendous condition.

My primary care doctor first prescribed me high doses of prednisone oral and cream. it helped at first but then the pain and swelling started to come back so I went to a eye specialist. He gave me steroid and antibiotic drops, told me to do the warm compresses and clean my eyes with baby shamposs and STILL no relief after 5 days. I camped out at his office this am and he gave me a 10 day presciption for oral antibiotics (keflex). On my own I added the Manuka honey and omega 3's....still I am miserable.

I have been reading about certain wipes which have an ingredient which seems to help, which I will look into.

I find it hard to believe that there isn't a cure or a treatment for this.  I am looking to see if I can find a specialist in NY City, which is near where I live.  Please confinue to post any suggestions which help get relief. I am really having a hard time with this.

    Thanks

More and more we are hearing of blepharitis and health problems.  I've tried much of what Davis has written and it has worked more for me so that I can cut down to twice or three times a day and can often express the oils.  I've been depressed about my health in general and now this.    For some reason, flu maybe.  i have very, very red in whites of eye.  It has moved and improved the last two days.

It's sunny and the weather better so I get out and walk or shop.  Sunglasses always is needed. Look like a fashionista!  In NYC you will still need to find a special specialist.  I found that A& E and young doctors knew more.  I will start contacting other eye specialists around the world for more answers.  This would be a good research project.

I am 17 and have had this condition for about 2 years. As i'm sure you will all know it has had a huge effect on me. I am going to university next year but am terrified about being with other people early on in the day (my blepharitis is worst in the morning) and talking to lecturers close up because I can only look straight at somebody for a short period of tiem before my eyes swell up and begin to hurt too much. I WANT to go for jogs in the morning. I WANT to go on holidays with friends but I just cannot face seeing people with my red and watery eyes. How will I wake up next to a girl I met at a club in my university flat and look at her when my eyes are full of oily substance and dry skin. My life now revolves around my condition and I have tried all the house treatments (heat and massage, regular cleanngs, omega 3 tablets etc) and I have been prescribed antibiotic cream which, although it removed the scaly skin beneath my eyes, it made my eyes much more sensitive to literally anything: the wind, sunlight or indeed bulb light, even sneezing or coughing makes my eyes water. Walking down the street and all I can think about is how lucky evrybody else is. Any suggesrtions I would really appreciate. Even reading these comments and entries are comforting as I now know I am not alone.

Ivan, yes this is a terrible condition, but you willfind an answer. I use no more tears baby shampoo and tea tree oil, wash my face with my eyes closes, then rinse good. tea tre oil is an ingredient they use in some products to treat blepharitis, but I find the products are tooexpensive. this oil will tingle on your face and eyes a little, but that goes away. Hope you find your answer if this does't work for you. smile Dena
