I am 50 years old and am in good shape sine I am A personal fitness trainer. I had total hip replacement on June 14 of this year, 11 days ago. Rehab is going great, although still on alot of pain meds for the unreal pain and stiffness. I am driving now and I am fine, with the exception of getting in and out of the car. My question here is, I am going back to work this Thursday which would be 15 days out from my surgery. Doctor has cleared me if I feel like working, but most of my clients are in the medical field that I train and think I am coming back to work to early. Confused just thought I would see other people thought.

    Hiya!

First thing, first. your body needs to heal. It went through major trama. Even if you went thought the minimally invasive surgery, your body still needs to recover. I'm glad you're feeling great, just be mindful of your body. You don't want to go back and have another surgery because you over did it!!!

Hey Hank, maybe don't do too many hours at first, take it easy!

    Good luck, Judith

Hank, congrats on getting through your surgery! No matter your age or your fitness level before THR, it is a major surgery, and your bones and soft tissues have been necessarily grievously injured. They require a certain amount of time to heal, and you can't rush it, since things must build up from the cellular level. You can, however, set yourself back by doing too much activity too soon. I have rarely heard of people going back to work as early as two weeks out. Most often the earliest is 6 weeks, with many people waiting until 10 or 12 weeks, or even longer, depending on their recovery. Your body will tell you if you are ready, or if you go back too soon.
