I have been suffering with severe pain where the hiatal hernia is.  I can eat very little at one time.  I do best with green yogurt and eggs.  Gets rather monotonous.  I have Gerd, shortness of breat, a chronic dry cough, but the bloating is the worst except when the pain starts.  I am a very young 69 year old woman, otherwise very healthy.

May I asked where your failed surgeries were done and if you are going to a different place for your third?  Did you have laproscopic surgery?

I am scared and probably facing surgery one day because when the pain starts, it is like a big strong man’s powerful hand squeezing my stomach and not stopping for a couple of weeks!  And, this 9 month pregnancy bloating has GOT TO GO!!!  My hernia Is 3cm and that is when the pain and all other symptoms started.  It is obviously only going to get bigger.  I live alone, (widow) since last September.  No family in my state.  I had to quit my wonderful part time job at an Arboretum and Botanical garden because of all the lifting and physical labor.  I have gained a considerable amount of weight in a short period of time, ALL in my gut.  I am so discouraged.  Even called Mayo Clinic 3 times and after they got all of my personal info, EACH TIME they keep telling me I am NOT A CANDIDATE to even go there for tests!  I have Medicare and a wonderful supplemental plan who tells me they cover Mayo!  It took a group of idiot gastroenterologist 2 years of tests to come up with NOTHING!  I have a different gastric doctor now who found the hernia.  I want the best hospital and group of doctors and my insurance pays.  I fly for nothing and can go to ANY of the 3 clinics Mayo has.

Do you have any suggestions?!  I know I must sound like a big whiny baby.  I just don’t know what my best options are since apparently, I am NOT “candidate material” for any of the Mayo Clinic’s!  What in the Hell does that mean, anyway?!

Hi I am in the United Kingdom and had my my surgery there. The first two were at the the same. Hospital but am going to a different hospital for the third. The first two were done laparosprily but have been told third will be open surgery as hernia is over 4.5 cm. I am suffering and am the moment have the added problem of having severe spasms of the oseghaghus which has been causing a lot of pain. I am unable to eat anything despite been on loads of medication. Surgery is the only way forwaRd. All my acid reflux and the metallic taste all disappeared but unfortunately because the surgery was not done properly returned.

Jean, I am so sorry for you.  I am beginning to understand the severity of this situation.

I wish you luck.  Please keep us updated on your progress, I just know you are going to feel better.  It is a nightmare.  Totally takes over your life.

i hope to get some help and answers by a very qualified surgeon and a fabulous hospital somewhere!  Mine is only 3cm, but before it caused me pain, it was only a 1cm.  I think I am going to opt for surgery before it gets larger and hopefully, laparoscopically!

Best wishes to you, dear.  Janet😘

I really don't understand why everyone have to put up of taking drug causing so much side effect, sleep 45 angle and all those crazy eating guide. Just look for an experience gastro specialist like british hernia centre and have the surgery done. This will omprove your life and move on.
