Blood thinner injections

Has anyone had the tablet form of the blood thinners in the UK rather than the injections in the stomach after their THR?

If so could someone tell me the name of the drug?

Hi, I'm in the UK and had blood thinning tablets for a month. Dabigatran Etexilate.

In the UK there are new blood thinners on the market, that are termed NOAC's, and from what I've read is that you are on them around five weeks post op. Apixaban and Rivoroxaban  are two of the names (sorry, there are others but I can't remember names),or you can also just have the subcutaneous injections for that period . I am due for surgery in three weeks, and when I asked my pre - op nurse she said as far as she knew we only had injection treatment for one week. I have asked to find our for my next appointment (tues), as I am very worried as PE is a major complication. If I don't get a more satisfactory answer, then I shall be asking to discuss with the Consultant prior to D day! I will post if I get the answer smile
