Blotchy red rash/irritated skin on penile head (lasted for over 3 moths now)?

Posted , 410 users are following.

Part of the skin on the head of my penis has become slightly red and is causing some pain/irritation.

It first appeared the day after I used a condom so I think I must have had a reaction to the latex or some other substance in the condom.

The tip of the penis became super sensitive and noticeably hurt whenever it touched my underwear.

The skin was and still is noticeably red close to and directly around the meatus. This redness gets worse and bigger after I've come out the shower or masturbated.

An hour or so after ejaculation, I get a slight burn/irritation at the very end of the urethra when I urinate and this can last for a few days before subsiding. This has put me off from masturbating as much now.

This has lasted for about 3 months now with no signs of improvement.

I saw a doctor and was prescribed timodine/hydrocortisone cream and this didn't have much effect and am slightly worried it may just make things worse so have stopped using it for now.

It almost seems as if the redness comes from within the skin rather than on the surface.

I don't think its balanitis as I haven't had that for over 12 years when I was a kid and that was with the usual smegma discharge etc, whereas this is just redness.

I've attached images to show how it looks straight after showering, which is when the redness is at its worst and the contrast between the normal skin colour and the redness can be clearly seen.

Hey guys so I wanted to ask this and I’m not embarrassed at all and I hope I don’t offend anyone with my word options. So I’m a gay guy with this infection on my penis tip, however since I’m the bottom bunk, I don’t use my penis at all. Unless of course the guy wants to give me a b*****b. My question is, if a guy gives me a b******b and then proceeds to eat me butt out, will the infection transmit to there too? Does anyone have an experience where they still had sex and the person you had sex with didn’t get the infection? It’s been a long time since I’ve had sex because I’m afraid someone will want to suck me off and then want to rim me therefore potentially pass the infection. I hope I don’t offend anyone but I rather speak truthfully and openly as I know this is a situation that can be quite frustrating. Also, don’t be ashamed if you HAVE had sex with another person. Although it’s not morally right it can still happen. Please keep this post judgment free, thank you!

Cut out every carb from your diet and get some canasten. Every time you go for a p**s, wash your head. By doing this, you're killing two birds with one stone. Could fungal, could be balantitis.

I have the same problem, it disappeared with fluconazole tablets after 4-6 days. But it still comes back after a month triggered by shower or sex or masturbation.

Red spots that seem to be under the skin without itching or discomfort.

I dont know if fluconazole is the reason that i get rid off them or its just a coincidence. All i know is they keep showing again and again after they have been triggered.

I have had this sort of thing for about 6 months.  Sometimes the tip of the urethra gets bright red and irritated.  I went to a Naturopath and he thinks it is chronic prostatitis.  This kind of makes sense because it comes and goes and the irritation can just be from the prostate and pelvis being inflamed.  It can be from muscle stress or bacterial infection.  Hope this helps.

This is my second time at this and I’d say a little worse this time. A few years ago when I had it it looked just like yours and I only really noticed it in the hot tub but went away after about 18 months. I’ve read that medications can cause it but that’s all I really knew.

I have a lot of back problems and had several  epidurals but those didn’t seem to pose a problem. Being a body builder dabled in steroids still no problems but last Nov. about 6 months ago I started taking tramadol for back pain, meloxicam an anti  inflammatory and had a pain drug shot in my spine to see if I’d be a good  candidate for a pain pump. It didn’t work well with me and I noticed the splotches came back then in March I went in and had my neck fused at which time they pumped me full of anti biopics. That’s when I noticed the splotches really bloomed every where that my foreskin covered. Didn’t hurt or itch until I started applying salves and ointments.

I’ve had  herpes for 40 years but rarly have an outbreak and when I do tea tree oil and corn starch stops it in its tracks. But that would only cause it to peel so I tried anti fungules they would cause it to peal and itch. Someone on here mentioned a cream that I couldn’t find in this country but the active ingredients are Miconazole nitrate and hydrocortisone so I picked up the hydrocortisone and ordered the other and will mix up my own. In the mean time I’m mixing the hydrocortisone and a  Antifungal that seems to be helping over the past couple days and there was a dull pulling pain in the head of the gland during a ridged erection that seems to have been going away.

With the nerve damage that I have from my back has also caused DE delayed ejaculation. I can be at the doorway of a climax for 4or5 days and just can’t get over the threshold. I’m hoping with my next fusion this will be corected. But in the mean time I have pretty much beat it to death and even hoped the fence and forced it in some pretty tight places but still it shouldn’t look like a  salmon after the Spahn.

Condoms do leave their mark but goes in a couple of days. I am  allergic to yeast so Candida is a viable possibility.

My next move is a more out of the box approach. High doses of cinnamon to keep sugar levels low so as to not feed any possible yeast infections ie candida.

They claim that the cure for herpies is through natural  supplementation. These same items are great  anti-inflammatories  and antibiotics so they can help me in many ways. I take a teaspoon of crushed garlic 2 times a day, 1000 mg of quercetin, 1200 mg turmeric Curcumin, 1000 mg reservartol, and 20 mg of biopeprin all twice a day for 6 weeks... just started 3 days ago. I’m hoping between all  this and the  salve something should work...lol

I will be reading everything posted and if I figure this out I will also keep in touch.

Hey guys, we might be on to something... with so many thinking it might be HPV related I got some SOMXL and got the accelerator with it.  Put some on last night and in 10 to 12 hours noticed all kinds of changes... looked pretty bad turning 3 or 4 different colors. Now today after 2nd treatment the lighter colors are fading and the darker colors are tightening up into smaller spots. Will run this for a week and keep you posted on the changes and progress

Sure you want to be putting that on your genital region???, google it, says DO NOT use for genital warts, let alone in the genital region....honestly, for genital region, I'd try to keep it as natural as possible.  Even man1oil has PEG's in it. I threw out everything that had PEG in it. Most of the those speciality penis creams have loads of crazy chemicals in them, no way!

Here is what I'm experimenting with, I alternate all of these, rub some in every few hours, alternating. Hitting it with everything I have. Again, assuming in my case it's HPV but still not 100% sure so just trying everything.....

First a quick hit list, then more detail:

      Shea butter

      Suragel

      Castor oil

      RRPD

      Aloe Vera gel (with carrageenan)

      Trip antibiotic ointment

Webber First aid vitamin E cream

      - Shea butter, buy grade A shea butter from Africa (ebay). It is like a spa for any skin, loaded with nutrients, vitamens, moisturizing, you name it, it has it. AND it's 100% natural. I mix a few chunks in with Olive oil, coconut oil and one or two essential oils (stopped using tea tree oil because I read it can cause hormonal issues) so 10-20 drops of Oregano oil, grapefruit seed extract or cinnamon oil. I found this has done nothing but good so far...

      - Suragel, brand name speciality cream for balanitis ( all natural) I find it pretty good but when I put it on, it has the same "coating" feel of one of the other speciality creams I tried that had chemical that is used to coat the skin, which is not so good. I tried e-mailing Suragel about this but got no response.

      - Castor oil, age old remedy for gential warts. Great for the skin in general. Generally safe when applied externally. I like this because it's thick and really sooths the head and doesn't rub off easily. So far, good results.

      - RRPD (red rash penis doctor) a mix of essential oils, created for balanitis sufferers. Comes in a small brown bottle, discreet, smells kind nice and natural. So far, seems to help, no complaints.

      - Aloe vera gel (with Carrageenan) you can get this at the health food store. If you suspect you have HPV, really important to find anything with enough carrageenan in it. They've studied this (comes from red algea) and kills HPV in it's tracks, something like a drop of carrageenan in a bathtub of water is enough to kill the virus. I would say this Aloe gel has probably made one of the biggest impacts so far. Everytime I do a rub session with this stuff, my glans turn blotchy read after 15min, it's like the virus is being killed off or something and any pain or pinching is soothed. It's nothing but pure relief.... and any swelling goes right down.... after the session, the redness dissipates and things turn normal color..

      - Triple antibiotic ointment, I'm not sure if this is required in my case but I'd thought I'd cover all bases so I've been putting this on now and then. Seems to help.

      - Webber First aid vitamin E cream (12500IU) extra strength. Oh man, I've just started putting this on and it literally sooths all pain. So far, greats results.

Just rotating all of these and giving the glans a spa treatment for as long as it takes...so far so good...I dare say noticing small improvements everyday.

Another crucial thing that I feel is helping, is to eat really well, veggies, fruits, garlic, green smoothies etc. cut out sugar, white fluffy breads, alcholol, coffee etc.

Also added supplements for prostate health and for immunity defense. Getting plenty of sun for vitamin D also.

Currently, my symptoms are down to

-slight patch of redish/sunburned looking on top of glans that can get slightly sore if rubbing on pants etc.

-slightly redish meatus, can be slightly sore sometimes, seems to flare on occasions with no sleep, certain foods etc.

      - some slight redish bumpiness on the glans (avocado) texture at seemingly random times, sometimes after whack'n it, mostly just random (really weird I know)... it's like an illusion, then next second will be completely normal. I attribute it to HPV affecting things at cellular level/inflammation etc. HOWEVER it seems to be getting better, not worse.

      - Some slight aching/full sensation in rectum, most likely prostate or prudendal nerve. My theory is that the HPV infected and inflammed the whole pelvic floor..... this always seems worse if I don't whack it for a few days, once I whack it, dies down, but overall doesn't seem to be getting any worse, seems to be improving. I do pelvic floor exercises everytime it flares up, I find it REALLY helps. One I find really helpful if I have a pinching flare-up at the meatus (usually related to prostate/CPPS) is lie on your back with your knees up/bent and feet flat on the ground, rotate your pelvis in a clockwise direction trying to keep your tailbone stuck to the floor, then switch direction....find this helps to loosen all those inflammed tense muscles that in turn pull on your urethra/penis.

      - Small fleshy wart like thing just above the glans on shaft, just one about size of grain of rice. Trying to treat it with castor oil. If it goes away, then will confirm it's HPV. If it stays, then big mystery...

Hope all these suggestions help. The more you can throw at this, the better.  I'm still experimenting and will keep posted with results....

IMO, in most cases, this is totally cureable, just takes a while and you have to find what works for you. You have to take some time and focus on healing yourself. and # 1 again, HEALTHY DIET AND PLENTY OF SLEEP.

I don’t know what you found but this is sold for genital warts... I’ll look again but that’s what it was advertzed for... things are starting to look a lot better already..
    • Posted

Yup I don’t have genital warts but this is sold for genital warts and HPV... seems to be working on this rash so I’m going to give it a try for a few days
    • Posted

Ya it's weird, SOMXL is marketing as being good for that and genital area, but it uses salicylic acid...

if you google info on salicylic acid, it says not to put it on genital area...conflicting info. If it works for you with no side effects, go for it. Keep us posted.

So you are rubbing it all over the glans??

Yes... also on some small skin cancer on my face and shaved head... only changes I’m seeing so far is just on the rash on my penis... foreskin is pretty much cleared up and meatus has lightened up with just a few darker spots when heated up from shower... only been about 36 hours. Still a bit leathery looking but seems to be fading...

This is an interesting thread and it sounds like you're making really good progress! I'm still not totally onboard with the idea that it's HPV however as mine originated from sleeping with someone who had a yeast infection, I'm far more of the mind that this is a deep rooted sub-dermal yeast infection caused by the yeast getting into any micro-abrasions. Then again this could be triggered from various sources and display the same way. Would you be interested in doing a video call? We seem to be of similar minds in terms of treatment routes, as I've just finished up a long course of fluconazole which has done very little and I want to focus on maintaining my overall health and going as 'natural' as I possibly can.

Right. There are a few other forums regarding this topic aswell, there's one thread with over 600 posts over on medhelp..."Persistent Inflamed & Irritated Meatus" . One guy in particular, rbaker765, was really prominent on there, parents were doctors so he had backdoor access to specialists in labs etc. he went through so many antibiotics and regimens trying to treat this it was insane...turned out his case was really hard to treat chlamydia, that tested negative many times before he was able to bring it to the surface through a garlic concoction, pull it out of the prostate and finally had the doctors believe him with a pos test for chlamydia.....but he discharge etc. so I don't have any of that....

So, with everything else negative, HPV or yeast is about the only thing that makes sense....or some benign bacteria that our body had a bad reaction to.

These forums are amazing, you would not get near the help through common MD or GP's. They're just too busy with other patients issues --> just right scripts and send you on your way, they don't really have time get to the root of the problem. Gotta heal yourself.

Thank you for such a detail post on what you use. I have used almost everything that you have mentioned except for RRPD. I looked it up at its around $80. I have spent so much already on various products (see attachment) to get rid of my rash/irritation (see attachment) that i received after a sexual encounter. My question is, is it worth the $80 ? would you purchase it again..Also is what i have something similar to what you have ?

Can you repeat symptoms again please....

In that image, I see a lot of over the counter stuff.....those rarely work.

Have you tried the natural stuff I listed in the post above? Shea butter, essential oils like oregano, cinnamon oil, grapefruit seed extract (dilute them in a carrier oil like coconut oil or olive oil)..

There's also aloe vera plant (use the actual plant, and eat it too)

      tried castor oil too?

Also, you need to heal this from within, how is your diet, this won't get better if you smoke, eat greasy fried food everyday. Once and a while is ok, but if you go 80% veggies (lot's of green) 20% fruit, nuts and seeds, herbs. You give your body everything it needs to repair itself... combine that with exercise to get the blood flowing to all parts of the body.

This incident happened approximately 10 months ago - I had sex with a woman who had a bad reputation for sleeping around a lot. I used a condom however the condom broke midway and didn't realize it until we were done with having sex. When i saw the condom broke i freaked out. I took a bottle of whiskey and washed my penis (like an idiot) with it hoping that i wouldn't catch any diseases. Less than 2 days later my penis was feeling different and got a rash and tight forskin

I went to the doctor around a week later and i got tested for most common STDs - All came back negative. The doctor said i have balanitis and he gave me some anti-fungal cream and i did that for a few months and not much of a difference happened, after several months with no change i was prescribed a stronger anti-fungal cream and still no change. After doing my own research, i purchased products that would help and nothing really worked. - Tried Coconut oil, castor oil, Lavender and even tea tree oil that almost burnt my penis as it was potent. But i wanted to ask, is the RRPD worth the 80 dollars ? Im thinking of trying that next as ive tried a lot of other organic methods..After reading your post i also ordered oregano oil so that i can mix it with coconut oil and see if anything happens but i have low expectations as ive tried a lot of things with different oils.

There is slight tight forskin. The head of the penis does get swollen when i masterbate but my main problem is the rash/irritation as it is quite visible. I even stopped using any products for a week to see if there will be a difference but no change.

      Ok, great information...

Sounds like you've been down the road I'm currently on and you've tried most things I've been trying ...so that's not too good news sad. So to answer your question, if you've havn't had success with OTC creams or organic stuff, I doubt the RRPD will work. It's combo or essential oils, you can look it up...but I wouldn't expect miracles...if you're 10 months in, I don't think the issue is going to be solved via ANY oil or cream.....and it's expensive.

**regarding tee tree oil, always make sure to dilute pure essential oils in a carrier oil like coconut or olive oil..

My question would be, do you find any relief when using some of the oils or creams? like they might cure the issue but do they atleast provide some relief?

So big news today, 6-8-2018, has been about 4 months post encounter (if this s**t is even from sex, I was chilling all over the place, random highly chlorinated hot tubs/pools, drinking a lot, had super long lasting nasal cold before this all started) anyway, things seemed to be getting better but today had this SUPER WEIRD flare up. Literally lasted only a few hours in the morning after putting castor oil on the glans. I've put castor oil on before with no issues... Now I'm trying to think of what would cause this, was it food from breakfast? (I had a begal with creamcheese, I've eaten that before, no issues). I did notice last night seemed to be acting up but nothing like the flare up in the morning, worst I've seen it since it started...pink puffed and inflamed red patch on top of glans, red spots that feel a little harder than the surrounding skin... I'm just at a loss for what this is. HPV? Yeast?  now I'm tempted to throw autoimmune issue in there...

Here's some images of the flare up that happened today, and the weird wart/fleshy thing that appeared about 2-3 weeks after encounter..........open to opinions

Looks quite similar to what i have. Pink puffed and inflamed red patch that looks like its more of an irritation than a rash. Out of everything i have tried, I believe mixing castor oil and a bit of D-Care (see attachment) has reduced the inflammation and helps with the appearance (short-term) however nothing has solved the source of the problem. I asked my doctor if he could do a swab test to know exactly but he said it was not necessary as the test will show bacteria as there will always be bacteria. But after reading some cases, Perhaps he might find a bacteria thats not supposed to be there and so the next time i go to the doctors, im gonna force him to do a swab test and another HPV and other STD test. Might as well make use of my insurance (hopefully they cover Swab test). Will be sure to give an update once i get the results

Yeah. Couldn't agree more with the irritation theory, it looks almost like a rug burn that's trying to heal. It's just so weird. Prior to this flare up today, it was hardly noticeable and thought things were healing up...there is always a pink rug burnt hue on a triangle patch ontop and some irritation at the tip but very mild 1/10, and the pink is just barely noticeable, but still shouldn't be there ofcourse. Today, for a few hours there it was pretty inflamed and a brighter shade of pink, red dots/patches too (never really seen those before) with tiny tiny bumps, I could feel them, they felt hard, they had very tiny bubble tips sort of like minuscule pimples....and the pain/irritation was 3/10. Havn't felt that level for a while. In my case, it's almost like the pain/irritation always alternates from rectum/prostate vs. Meatus/glans.... If I have a flare up it's alway one or the other it seems. Like today, I distinctly noticed very little or no irritation or sensation in my prostate where usually, for the last few months, it waxes and wains... funny thing also, when this first started happening, I'd get a weird warm/flush sensation in my left inner thigh, it would alternate from thigh to meatus/glans. Then later on rectum/prostate but I havn't felt that sensation in my thigh since then the prostate/rectum started up...

Ok thanks. Really good to know about the castor oil and D-care. Anything helps. So far, I've been treating the wart thing with castor oil on a bandage, has been about a week so far, don't really notice any change....castor oil is supposed to get rid of HPV warts like 90% of the time, so if it doesn't work.....I'm going to be even more stumped...

Like I mentioned I have my go to items and they seemed to be working pretty well...just not sure what happened today. I didn't really do anything different that usual. I've applied castor oil before without issue...could it be bringing up bacteria/toxins from out of the skin? hence the flare up??

List of potential things I did this morning that could have possibly caused flare up..

      - Showered with soap on weiner and balls, usually have been avoiding it.

      - Went for a jog, got sweaty as balls... literally, balls and D were sweaty, but showered right after.

      - Ate a begal, but have done this before, no issue. Theory would be that wheat would inflame yeast infection.

      - Applied castor oil before jog to protect from irritation, but have done before with no issue.

Yes, we know something isn't right so let's keep pursuing it. We'll get this fixed and help a bunch other people in the process. Get a swab and more tests if you can and report back. Swab on the rash and if you can handle it, inside the urethra, tell him/her to google this topic and they will see it's a big issue for many men. I'm going to wait it out a little longer but then I'm going to my GP and asking for a referral to a dermatologist, they will be much more knowledgeable about something like this. An STD clinic might be good also but they don't test for HPV here in Canada and the only test I need to redo is for HSV-1 which I'm just about in the 3 month window now, but I have my doubts it's that.

ask your doctor to do a test for trichomonasis and m.genitalium if that's possible, check for parasites.

Here is a modified image from this mornings flare up. I played with the contrast and color saturation to help make things more clear...

      - will keep posted

Irritation or even something to do with the nerves as it could be nerve damage. Funny you mentioned about the red dots, Approximately 6 months after i too noticed red dots like on the surface. It was visible for approximately 2 days and went away after i applied some medicine (cant remember which one, but it was one of the ones in my earlier picture) ..(At least its not visible anymore, even tho im sure its hiding within). However now (present) the pink rash tends to change color at times (darker than my natural color). But turns pink after awhile. Yes, will definitely let you know of the outcome of the results. Im not sure about inside the urethra but will try to get the others.
