Blotchy red rash/irritated skin on penile head (lasted for over 3 moths now)?

Part of the skin on the head of my penis has become slightly red and is causing some pain/irritation.

It first appeared the day after I used a condom so I think I must have had a reaction to the latex or some other substance in the condom.

The tip of the penis became super sensitive and noticeably hurt whenever it touched my underwear.

The skin was and still is noticeably red close to and directly around the meatus. This redness gets worse and bigger after I've come out the shower or masturbated.

An hour or so after ejaculation, I get a slight burn/irritation at the very end of the urethra when I urinate and this can last for a few days before subsiding. This has put me off from masturbating as much now.

This has lasted for about 3 months now with no signs of improvement.

I saw a doctor and was prescribed timodine/hydrocortisone cream and this didn't have much effect and am slightly worried it may just make things worse so have stopped using it for now.

It almost seems as if the redness comes from within the skin rather than on the surface.

I don't think its balanitis as I haven't had that for over 12 years when I was a kid and that was with the usual smegma discharge etc, whereas this is just redness.

I've attached images to show how it looks straight after showering, which is when the redness is at its worst and the contrast between the normal skin colour and the redness can be clearly seen.

    Hi guys,

I'm 25 and have very similar symptoms to you all.

Iv been freaking out for the last 2 months as iv noticed a change down there.

After reading alot of thes posts I can relate to having HPV as someone I had slept with was diagnosed with it which would mean I would have it as well. I had probably given it to her.

2 months ago i was on a azithromycin and doxy course running at the same time. Both a 7 day course. Azithromycin being 1 tablet and doxy 3 caps a day. On the 5th day of the course I felt my first uretha burn and redness as it does today with all the same symptoms or close enough to the rest of you.

I have a feeling it's an adverse effect from the antibiotics. In actually quite worried that this condition is something that will be with me for life. Before the courses I was fine.

I get a slight burn on the bottom part of the uretha mouth, my glans becomes tomato red after a shower for a good few hours and any slight touch it becomes red again.

Doctors first gave me anti fungal, it reduced the redness but didnt fix the issue.

It seems like a very common issue for not to have any solutions.

This thread has been dormant for a couple of weeks now- is anyone having any success with a treatment?

Have you guys had a history of antibiotics prior to this issue? Mine was triggered by sex but I was taking Lymecycline at the time for acne. Maybe there is a link there? Any thoughts?

Hey guys so I posted on this thread a while ago and I found a solution to my problem and potentially some of yours. I’ve had an extensive history of antibiotics (like a lot) and what it did was destroy they good bacteria in my gut. After seeing 8 or 9 doctors who prescribed the range of treatments I went to an all natural doctor (one that prescribes natural remedies like vitamins and other supplements). Because my pain seemed to align with when I ate (particularly bread and beer and other things with gluten in them) he determined that I had a leaky gut as they call it. Essentially your intestines start to allow things into your body that they shouldn’t. In my case it was gluten and for whatever reason my body would flare up and inflame my digestive/urinary tract. When your prostate which is part of the urinary tract gets inflamed it manifests itself in pain at the tip of the penis and your eurethra gets inflamed which makes your glands really sensitive.  so I went completely gluten free and took months of probiotics with glutamine powder( to rebuild the digestive system) and my symptoms started to improve after about 2-3 months. In my case it was gluten and I was able to narrow the culprit down from months of pain and seeing that it spiked when I ate gluten and dairy too actually. Perhaps see if there is any pattern in pain when you eat something or if it’s worse at certain types of the day. I’m not a medical expert and not qualified to offer recommendations but I have had the same problems you guys have and there is a chance it could be something internally going on.

Thank you for the insight, very interesting. I experience near constant discomfort down there, cannot put my finger on what it feels like, but it's like it's moist and feels irrtated. I sometimes experience an itchy rash on the glans as well. Is this a commonality with you?

Not really.... mine was itchy it was more so inflamed and swollen

Are you sure about the gluten... lol I thought my gut problem was gluten related to at one point but after years of study come to find out it was live yeast. Beer root beer fresh baked goods etc. but wasn’t bothered by pastas or processed breads being frozen... just a thought if you continue to have problems with some items and not others

Just to add on to my previous comment. About how I finally figured out about live yeast. I love me some Godfathers pizza and would just suffer the consequences after a piece of their large combination pizza but I could gobble up a whole personal pan with no problems so I resurched the difrences between the 2. The large they mix and raise on site but the little personal ones came flash frozen. Same with root beer that I love. A and W use to make it fresh on site and some may still do but out of the fountain really didn’t bother me which has no yeast where Home made root beer has yeast so before you cut out all wheat based products dig a little deeper to make sure that is truly your issue...

Well Jason it is very uncomfortable! I finally tried a small amount (Q tip )of tea tree oil. once daily for 2 or 3 days. It finally cleared up with no new problems. Good luck!

Did you dilute the tree oil with something else ? becasue if you apply it without diluting, it will burn.

I personally never  dilute  Tea tree oil I like it  Full strength but you can with a little grape seed oil or something like that. I use it for everything it’s a pretty good topical antibiotic

No I didn't dilute it. I used such a small amount that discomfort was short. I did this a 3 or 4 months ago after suffering for 5 months. This worked for me, it hasn't returned.

I meant that I had this burning type of lesion for 5 months before I tried the tea tree oil.

    Updating on my issue.

    All swabs came back negative.

They did indicate a very mild case of yeast infection which now I have been prescribed cream. Seems like it's a common practice and diagnosis based on the above comments but will do the 2 weeks of treatment and report back. Goodluck
