Blotchy red rash/irritated skin on penile head (lasted for over 3 moths now)?
Posted , 410 users are following.
Part of the skin on the head of my penis has become slightly red and is causing some pain/irritation.
It first appeared the day after I used a condom so I think I must have had a reaction to the latex or some other substance in the condom.
The tip of the penis became super sensitive and noticeably hurt whenever it touched my underwear.
The skin was and still is noticeably red close to and directly around the meatus. This redness gets worse and bigger after I've come out the shower or masturbated.
An hour or so after ejaculation, I get a slight burn/irritation at the very end of the urethra when I urinate and this can last for a few days before subsiding. This has put me off from masturbating as much now.
This has lasted for about 3 months now with no signs of improvement.
I saw a doctor and was prescribed timodine/hydrocortisone cream and this didn't have much effect and am slightly worried it may just make things worse so have stopped using it for now.
It almost seems as if the redness comes from within the skin rather than on the surface.
I don't think its balanitis as I haven't had that for over 12 years when I was a kid and that was with the usual smegma discharge etc, whereas this is just redness.
I've attached images to show how it looks straight after showering, which is when the redness is at its worst and the contrast between the normal skin colour and the redness can be clearly seen.

quite honestly I think the majority of cases are fungal related but because most guys treat it with over the counter anti fungal creams and/or try everything that they read online it is hard to detect the fungal infection - a swab test will yield a negative result.
In addition because of the various treatments the penile skin gets irritated. so in a sense you need to treat two conditions at the same time. Dermatitis and a fungal infection.
I know because I have been there twice! Once i had it for almost 8 months and it made me go insane. i got tested 5 times. seen various doctors. it seemed that everyone was clueless. i tried everything that was recommended online. I also tried to give it a rest - meaning not self medicating for a while. But nothing worked. until i found this one doctor who examined me and concluded that it probably started with a serious fungal infection but since it was treated with various lotions, creams, etc it is impossible to tell but what he can say that it that the treatments caused massive irritation and hence I have developed dermatitis. what i got prescribed was diproderm 15,0 mixed with ultrasicc 15.0. i was told to put a very thin layer twice per day on the irritated area. i was specifically warned not to overdo it. And I would urge everybody to follow suit whatever their prescribed medication is. For me it worked wonders. After a week I was symptom free. Gone. two years later I noticed again a red patch on my penile area. I was very cautious not to overreact and self medicate. But it quickly became very irritated and very uncomfortable. Went to the dermatologist got the same cream as before. This time though it took almost 2 weeks to clear. It required some patience but it it cleared and has not returned since. I am positive that if your STD tests are negative the underlying cause will be fungal but skin irritation makes this a lot harder to treat.

Really tricky as could be a number of different causes and people could of course be suffering from very different issues. I swing back to bacterial due to the testicular pain but managed to catch up with the consultant who believes could be two separate issues and a UTI (not sure how common those are in chaps so not entirely sold). Evidently its perhaps going to be a different course of action that helps to resolve each individuals problems.

I noticed by using castor oil that glans penis is litlle more irritation after shower yesterday evening cleaning in the water only was there more redness but after 30 min urination in leached Agrimonia eupatoria was better. I still see there also bearing bounded , urologist told me to use still castor oil but in the moment i would preffer to use coconut oil becose that was only oil without problems. I must also mention that i have immunological disease inherited from the father syndrom hyperimumology IgE.
And I was recommended by urologist to high doses of vitamin c 3000 a day and secondly they told that maybe is a psychological problem in my head which turned me on properly. I will use from today only
30 min urination in leached Agrimonia eupatoria 1 time a day + coconut oil+ orageno oil 1 time a day 2 drops in 1dlc of tea not int the spoon+ i use propbiotics+ i drink aloe vera but not 3time a day 30ml since iam working i put in glass in the morning of tea 3x30ml mixed with tea. I've been urinating for a month in Agrimonia eupatoriaI still have 1 and a half boxes of this dried tea after then i will be urinating only in salt water+ coconut oil. Iatfetr than i will use only alove gel and then the last will be lanoline 100%.

Everyone here should try out tea tree oil. It may flare up at first but that is the oil working its magic, hold tight through the burn and then feel the cooling anti-inflammatory effects.
Also, try out some candida cleansing pills, sold at whole foods and other organic produce stores.

I would be very careful with tea tree oil. II know the case when person has used teatree oil his skin tightened from his glans penis and he must used bepanthen. When i tried it first i diluted 2 drops in 30ml coconut oil and after 90minutes its begin to burn extremly. The question is how to dilute properly tea tree oil with coconut or with olive oil.

Nope, still having a nightmare. I seem to have a mixed bag of symptoms that no one can tell me what the issue is. Latest attempt was Coamoxiclav which hasn't helped. So that and two rounds of Doxy haven't helped. The steroid cream helps when glans flares up but doesn't address route cause.
Symptoms on glans for me are in the main occurring under the area foreskin covers. Crack around rim, purple and shiny at times red rash and is sore. Zero discharge and no raised bumps. I do however have groin pain and a bad case of Epididymitis. I would suspect Gonorrhea due to the testicular issues but have been tested 4x (5 if include a swap under foreskin area) and all come back negative for all STI's.
Would pay good money for a doctor to answer right now!

Hi guys,
Same thing has happened to me and this forum gives me some comfort as plenty in the same boat, but no real cure which is worrying.
basically i received unprotected oral sex and ever since have had issues down there.
Symptoms come and go but at the moment i am experiencing what a lot of you guys are.
Itching, slight stinging and the spots/rash which tend to be almost invisible when not erect, but come out when hard a last for a very short time after.
This only happened two months ago but its ruined my life for a number of reasons which i wont go in to.
At the moment i have had an STD test which is all negative. This didn't include herpes or HPV as not a standard test in the UK. I will be going back for more tests and to discuss this with the doctor as soon as possible. Lockdown has screwed everything up at the moment. Worst timing ever.
I just wanted to get involved and will keep you updated.

S**t I'm sorry to hear that man. I don't think that's the problem, but you should get your sperm checked ASAP

Really sorry to hear that, cant imagine how that feels. Hope you guys are okay.
I wouldn't have thought so but I haven't got a clue about what any of this is. Get yourself to the doctors and have a chat with them.
Take care.

im sorry to hear that as well man, I hope you and your wife can find comfort in eachother. i dont think that was what caused that. this is something fungal related

sorry bro,
i think most likely it was not the cause.
doctors should do thorough testing after miscarriages for bacteria that could cause it. if not you should do it on your own before planning next one. some bacteria like mycoplasma or ureaplasma might be the cause, but as far as i remember doctors have different opinion.
few doctors that i have visited said that it is much easier to find those microbes in women than it it is in men. so even if you did all the testing there is a chance that you missed it.
