Blotchy red rash/irritated skin on penile head (lasted for over 3 moths now)?

Part of the skin on the head of my penis has become slightly red and is causing some pain/irritation.

It first appeared the day after I used a condom so I think I must have had a reaction to the latex or some other substance in the condom.

The tip of the penis became super sensitive and noticeably hurt whenever it touched my underwear.

The skin was and still is noticeably red close to and directly around the meatus. This redness gets worse and bigger after I've come out the shower or masturbated.

An hour or so after ejaculation, I get a slight burn/irritation at the very end of the urethra when I urinate and this can last for a few days before subsiding. This has put me off from masturbating as much now.

This has lasted for about 3 months now with no signs of improvement.

I saw a doctor and was prescribed timodine/hydrocortisone cream and this didn't have much effect and am slightly worried it may just make things worse so have stopped using it for now.

It almost seems as if the redness comes from within the skin rather than on the surface.

I don't think its balanitis as I haven't had that for over 12 years when I was a kid and that was with the usual smegma discharge etc, whereas this is just redness.

I've attached images to show how it looks straight after showering, which is when the redness is at its worst and the contrast between the normal skin colour and the redness can be clearly seen.

I've had an ongoing issue since early March. I have tried the following:

    • Clotrimazole
    • Hydracortisone
    • Daktacort
    • Miconazole
    • Vaseline
    • Aquaphor
    • Coconut oil
    • Tea Tree oil

My most recent prescription was miconazole which made the affected area extremely red. Does anyone know if they may be facing a bacterial problem? All the anti-fungals I've tried either make things worse or do nothing.

same for me . anti-fungals makes it itchy and if there is a little irratation it makes burn alot

Does anyone have any different symptoms along with this?

I have pain/aching in lymph nodes in groin, armpits and neck which comes and goes and also stomach pain.

i used to. as you said it comes and goes. thought herpes but could not prove it. now i think its when immune system overreacts because of inflammation. that would explain why others don't feel it.

have you found a pattern on when it comes? did you do something different? maybe after taking alcohol, spicy food, sex, masturbation etc. maybe you irritate your urethra and it triggers everything else

      Hi

      Thanks for your reply.

No there's no pattern, every now and then I'll just feel a ache/pain in either neck, armpit or groin lymph node.

And there's nothing I'm aware of that starts it.

It all just began after my mistake with a SW last year.

Iv done multiple tests I. E, HIV, Herpes(blood), syphilis, chlamydia, gonorrhoea, hepatitis (a, b, c) and everything is persistently negative,.

So I'm just trying to move on with things, I can get by feeling OK until I feel the lymph node pain and then I start questioning what it could be again.

Is it all that you have been tested for?

Have you been tested for hpv? mycoplasma? ureaplasma?

      Hi.

Men can't be tested for hpv.

And I believe the other two I have yes.

I know there is something going on as I can feel abnormalities in my body but Dr's say I'm fine do there's nothing else I can do

i havent been active on here in quite awhile but i would like to share a link to anyone that messages me because i cant post links in here. its the prudendal nerve and more specific the dorsal nerve which is part of the prudendal. it talks about wearing tight underwear specifically and how it can irritate it. also talks about how most people experoence pain in the tip of the penis .its also tied into the pelvic floor. look up prudendal nerve as well and it will tell how you it can affect the rectum and a host of other things . like feeling like a foreign object or sitting on something. its a huge relief to read

i figured i would share my report from the DNA urine testing. looks like another round of antibiotics for me and if this doesnt work then maybe its just a lifelong isssue. there is also an argument that sole of these bacteria would be present in a healthy humans urine. not sure what to beleive.

hi ive been having for two weeks now and i haven't checked a doctor yet because i am really scared of getting a std and with school it doesnt help at all because of all this stress coming all along at the same time but maybe it is because of stress. i thought it was my eczema since i have some on my arms but it didnt look the same at all and then i made some research that cenasten cream could help it. I might try it out but if any of you guys try it too let me know.

This thread has so many replies over the years, and it's so old, so I've decided to make my own thread to hopefully find a solution.

Does anyone else notice this becomes much worse after ejaculation? Especially those who are noticing bumpiness around the corona of the glans.. The bumps become much more pronounced and then after some time go back down. Most recognizable after ejaculation though, perhaps something to do with blood vessels?

With ejaculation or erection or both you mean? If you physically rub your penis, it would look worse from the physical trauma onto the damaged skin of the glans. But even just an erection would make it look worse from the increased blood flow and expansion of tissue. Would be interesting if someone tried to go a few weeks without even getting an erection so see if anything improves?

both, if erection lasts for a few minutes...if any rubbing occurs, there is no touching of the glans, purposely. Any thoughts as to why these bumps would show much more with blood flow? Purple / red bumps..

For same reason your cheeks flush after running if you have fair skin. Some degree of redness/bumps on the penis is common, especially in whiter skin males. For example these are both normal penises:

Totally, just seems odd out of nowhere. I'm 34 and quite observant yet out of nowhere noticed an entirely different looking penis glans and corona. The small bumps are very pronounced, almost vein related, then retreat the next day.

I don't remember what yours looks like if you posted photo here before? Either way it could be nothing or could be something. For example, the virology and DNA changes from HSV aren't well understood. So maybe that caused some kind of damage to your penile skin. It might take years to heal. Or may never heal, no one in the world can tell you at this point since there needs to be more research done. Also, it might not even be HSV and something completely different.
