Blurred vision after cataracts surgery

My husband had laser treatment in 2003 in both eyes because he hates wearing glasses. Last year he had to have cataracts removed from both eyes  and this has left him with blurred vision and the need to wear glasses all the time. He feels it has been a total failure and is very depressed about it. He is 75 years young and very active. He has been to the opticians and they said this was normal! Is this right? Any ideas?     I had cataract surgery on Oct 3 and 17.  Right away my sight was incredibly crystal clear and very detailed.  Nowalmost two weeks after the second eye was done, my vision in both eyes has become blurred.    No cloudiness.  I had read n line that the pocket that the lens is placed in sometimes becomes cloudy and then a lazer needs to clear the sight.  Since my vision is only blurry and not cloudy, will the laser also help me?

      Did your doctor definitely say you have posterior capsule opacification (PCO) and need YAG laser for it? I don't have any blurriness or cloudiness, only a little glare indoors at night in certain situations and my doctor said I need YAG on both eyes (it would probably be in January 2018 - I had surgery in August 2017 and September 2017 - I read online that insurance won't pay for it for at least 3 months after cataract surgery or they pay less for it before 3 months, I'm not sure).

      Also, the things I read online about the incidence of PCO dropping over the years apparently is not true since I read about many people recently who have PCO after cataract surgery and need YAG (also supposedly the younger you are the more likely you will get PCO, but my doctor said it's very common even in geriatric patients). Anyway, I'm not sure if I'm going to have the YAG in January yet, it depends on whether the glare is really bothering me or not by then, plus I might have a second opinion before I have it done just to be sure I'm doing the right thing. If you are not being bothered by the PCO, you can postpone the YAG until you feel the time is right.

      I had cataract surgery for my right eye 3 weeks ago (10/24/2017) with a monofocal toric IOL targeted for good distance vision, about -0.25D.

      The first few days after surgery, my right eye vision wasn't as good as I hoped it was around 20/40 or so.  After about a week, the vision in the eye improved at least for periods in the morning soon after waking up, as good as 20/25 even 20/20 for awhile.  It then varied each day for the last two weeks, but the past few days more blurry than the week before.  Today its been worse than 20/40 and too blurry.

      From what I've read some things that can cause this blurring include corneal swelling, CME (swelling around the retina), or PCO.  PCO however usually takes months or even years to develop, though its possible to happen rarely after a few weeks?  The other two can happen soon after cataract surgery and may clear up after a couple months or with special eyedrops.

      I guess only a dilated eye exam could let the eye doctor tell if I have a CME or PCO?  In the post op exams, the eye surgeon only did a quick non-dilated eye check and said everything looks good - I think he was just checking how the cornea looked so I guess he didn't see corneal swelling is all?

    Sadly....I have terrible vision now..1.4 years .this is such bs..Dr say will be better.they should read how many are all the same here..this site I can't type..somethings WRONG w site

      I just had my second eye done 5 days ago for cataracts with a touric lens. Had the first eye done about a month ago. Wonderful results with the first eye. Perfect vision, no pain right after the surgery. This eye lots of pain during and after the surgery, now just a big blur. Right now Doctor did something to relieve pressure in my eyeball and gave me two eyedrops to use for a week. No more pain, but just a blur in my eye. I am pretty scared. Any  thoughts?

      I am so sorry..but it's 14 months for me since both eyes done with lenses..cataract surgery..thought I was losing my medical so I had only beginning stages that s all..now I have blurred vision even in the huge movie theatre..driving at night is terrible..I lost my eye site and I'm lost what to do since no one says they see anything wrong..why do t they come on line and read 3000 people saying the same thing rather then tell us..wait..it will clear up..I lost a year and a half so far..I'm so angry..wish I never had anything done.and this dry eye crap I never had either..wtf..how do these Dr get a license to do surgery..then lie to us saying..I never heard of this before..right ! I'm so angry..

      I'm in South Florida not rich and have no clue what to do sadly..I don't know..but at least one of your eyes are good..maybe the other will get better but in 3 months no change I doubt there will be..sorry..I understand!!
