I found a web page saying brain misfire ..I thought my heart had stopped it's such a strange feeling . Hi Darryl

This is a really common issue for me when suffering from anxiety (on meds now).  I literally will stop breathing and wake up gasping for breath, heart pumping and adrenaline running.

      Hi louise

I don't even get to sleep it's always just as I'm about drop off it doesn't make me jump it's more of I can't move it's hard to explain . Imagine playing a dvd watching a person and pressing pause for a split second that what it feels like it also get silent . It's very scary

Is this whike your actually asleep because I actually freeze in my sleep ?? Like I can't move and I want to scream but I can't nobody else gets this im probably on about something diffrent ?

My cbt worker said there's flight or fight you either run away or face it or there's a 3rd one and that's freeze and that's what I think this may be

I can't seem to find anyone who has or is suffering the same . There are plenty of people who suffer jumps and jerks but never frozen

i just thought of something that could be this sensation: sleep paralysis. it happens when you're falling askeep or waking up or transitioning between sleep phases. it can be something that is more likely to occur in anxiety sufferers. maybe google it - it may sound familiar or possible. good luck figuring this out!

Anxiety is very personal to all of us. We all suffer from different little symptoms and sensations.  You can torment yourself thinking of it all.  What is strange for you might never be heard of for another.  Me for instance I get sever pain in my oesphagus/food tube.  I can fall asleep and stop breathing, I get numb arms and face like a stroke.  I know it's anxiety but just because others don' thave the same doesn't mean it's not anxiety.

I believe I have had this feeling. It is like I have to make myself keep moving a part of my body, like bouncing my foot, cause if I stop, my heart will stop too. When exhaustion gets the best of me and I can not make myself stay awake any longer, I sleep sitting up. Laying down seems to make it worse. Does this sound like what you are talking about?

i have a similar issue. i can be awake or asleep. it happened once in docs office. i literally feel my body pause and its like a limp feeling. i was told it was thyroid related. i was put on no thyroid and it helped. i was just taken off the med 3 mos ago and its back. i ended up at a endocrinolgist doc who is looking at several things. my calcium is also high. i have a lot of blood tests. you may want to have thyroid checked.

I came searching online for some answers about this exact thing. It is the oddest thing, feels like everything in your body (and the world) just stops/freezes for a second. It's really disconcerting! I'm also an anxiety sufferer, am on 80mg of Propranolol and this happens to me when in bed, before I go to sleep. I thought it may be a palpitation (heart misses a beat type of thing), but I've managed to feel my pulse when one has happened and there was no change in rhythm.

      Hi,

I wondered how you got on in your investigations. I have been suffering from similar for a few months now and I've stumbled across this page. It's the first time I've seen anyone saying similar symptoms I've been trying to explain to doctor with no success. Like everyone else, I thought it was just me having these symptoms but it has given me slight comfort knowing I'm not the only one and other people are experiencing these weird symptoms.

Has anyone come across anything that works to combat this or found any answers.

Any info would be greatly appreciated.

      Nick
