Brain fog, dizziness, vision problems, head pressure, headache PLEASE HELP

Hi everyone!

I don't know where else to go, and was hoping someone could please help me. I'll start off by saying I'm a 23 year old Caucasian female. Going on 5 months now, I have had absolutely debilitating symptoms which have hindered my daily life. I feel these symptoms every moment of every day.

It started with dizziness and a persistent brain fog. I just thought I had a bug, and tried to go on about my life. However, my symptoms have never gone away. This "brain fog" I am talking about is a feeling of complete mental confusion, I have no memory, I cannot concentrate on anything, it feels like there's a dark blanket on my brain clouding all my thoughts. I have extreme disorientation and haziness. I feel like I'm always in a dream like state.

I am constantly dizzy and feel a pulling sensation, as if I'm ready to fall over at any moment. It feels like there's air inside my head, and I'm always very lightheaded. Whenever I try to drive I feel this pulling sensation pulling me down.

Another problem I have is with my vision. I am having very blurred vision and have double vision. Everytime I look at something up close it is extremely blurry and I cannot see at all. My perception on things has completely changed. I feel like everything looks very odd and strange and I don't have the right depth perception. It's like I'm in a horrible dream like state all the time.

I have been having headaches and head pressure as well, and having horrible pains behind my eyes. The pin starts from the back of my head close to my neck and continues up my head and the sides of my temples. My eyes hurt so bad, and it feels like knives are jabbing my eyes. My head also feels extremely heavy all the time.

All these symptoms have been causing me severe anxiety, and I have been having panic attacks from them and feel like I'm dying. It is causing a strange disrespity sensation, where I feel like I'm not even here anymore and there's a detachment from myself and my body. I have had to drop all my classes at college and quit my job because these symptoms make me lay in bed all day long. I have been unable to drive for months and can barely get up to walk around. If anyone could please help me or know anything as a suggestion to try.

I have been to my general doctor, 2 ENTs, 1 neurologist, have had 2 MRIs, a hearing test, VNG, multiple blood tests, and no one knows what is wrong. I can't live like this anymore. Any help is greatly appreciated.

-Elise

    Hi guys!

I’m curious to know.. if this “drunk feeling” foggy brain affect your driving?

I’ve been suffering from most of the symptoms everyone describes.. some days are manageable other days it’s challenging. I’ve been trying acupuncture and and body massages and that seems to help a bit.

Last week my drunk feeling is about a 10 being the worst. It’s a little bit difficult driving because I feel a little drunk, as if I had a tequila shot. Ugh.. I’m so frustrated!

I’ve had all kinds of blood test, seen all sorts of doctors, and had brain MRI’s and CT scans.. nothing thank God.

Someone on here mentioned a craniosacral therapy..I’m willing to try that and see if it works.. feeling helpless. I just keep praying.

On Facebook I even YouTubed some videos and it all makes sense but who knows I’m no doctor but I pray for the best little by little I feel better and thier is so cute for it but it does go away nothing last forever and hope this helped because it helped me to finally understand and just self diagnosed my self because it all makes sense and the symptoms but I don’t have depersonalization I have derealization which isn’t as bad but I do feel drunk all the time besides the fun and all and all the symptoms that come along .. hope this helps anyone because I atleast know I’m tuna. Hi Yolanda!

Thank you for replying.. wait, so you can’t drive at all?? I was fine with my symptoms until this past week.. the drunk feeling has been bad. I have a little trouble driving and I feel as if I’m buzzed. It’s scary because I have a three yr old and I pick him up from school.

I had seen a neurologist a few months ago and he said I might have vestibular migraine.. and tried putting me on meds but I’m bery against any type of meds. That would be my last resort if all fails.

I will be seeing a hollistic doctor end of July, hopefully he’s been able to help me.

Some people on this chat have said maybe it’s all food related.. who knows.

I do suffer from migraines.. I get a few a yr and I have neck issues.. I get a lot of tension around my neck and shoulder area. I got a spine MRI and they said a had a bulging disk near my neck area.. but it was very minor. My doctor recommended I continue with acupuncture and massages but that’s it... ugh. This so frustrating, especially the driving part! I have to be able to drive my son around.. I hope this gets a bit better.

Next week I’m hoping to try the cranial sacral therapy.. I’ll let u guys know how’s it goes.

      Hi Cynthia!

So do u still drive? Me too, but it depends on how good or bad my symptoms are that day.

I have days where my symptoms are manageable and challenging days. My symptoms have gotten very badness since last week, I don’t know why.. It’s frustrating.

I do drive but try to avoid congested areas and long distances. Big highways are really unnerving!
    • Posted

Yes me too.. I’ve been avoiding driving these past few days. If I go past 40 speed limit I feel really “drunk” or when the road curves.

So have you gotten any type of diagnosis?

Yes, after 7 years of trying to find the right doctor and a plethora of unnecessary tests i went to a functional doctor who did a crap ton of blood work and genetic testing and found that i have Marcons, which is a staph infection in my deep sinuses and CIRS, which is chronic inflammation of my entire system and brain.. hes been treating me since December and i feel like im getting better but its slow.. slow is better than having to deal with this the rest of my life

I’m sorry your going through it but your not alone and I can imagine how you feel I have a 9 year old and a 2 year old it makes things really hard and it’s weord but I’m the mornings I’m ok I don’t feel it but it hits me out of no where during the day it use to be really bad and I couldn’t drive at all I would try and wouldn’t wanna risk it it was like having to pay attention and focus so hard on staying in the lines it was horrible now I just refuse to drive u less I really really have to my husband has been great help I still have no answers therefore I had to change doctors because the 1 st one was cluelesss but this new one seems on the right track I haven’t got results in but I have a feeling I’ll end up having to see a  neurologist  Which would be my next step but I do know what you by drunk feeling I hate it and I’m always having migraines I’ve suffered from that my whole life even as a child I always got headaches so I hope they can figure out what is wrong with me as well which I have other symptoms as well that come along with it and I refuse to. Take medication also I hate not being in my right mind and I won’t take it unless I know it’s gunna help me get better I have never experienced any of these symptoms either that come along with the drunk feeling it’s hard we are so young to be going through this and I’m actually gunna try and start eating right and even exserzise which I’m not over weight or under .. but hope you find answers as well as I do!!

It started with fatigue that i just couldnt shake, no matter how much i slept.. family doctor said it was chronic fatigue syndrome.. OK great, do what do we do about it?. He Didnt know..... i have a friend in Hawaii and she had been exposed to mold and had the same symptoms i did....rhis was just last year.. i had been dealing with the fatigue, foggy head, dizziness heart palpitationsfor years. Then i started to develop this heaviness on the front part of my head over my eyes like i had a brick sitting on top of my eyes.. it was unnerving... it took a ton of blood work and genetic testing to find out the real issue.. about 3/4 of the way thru my treatment process

Oh wow mold? I do live in a old house it’s my grandparents I been living here for years I wonder if that’s the cause of it I know I see mold in the tub from time to time and my husband has to peel it off and put that clear stuff around the tub If that makes sense we are in the process of moving by the end of this year to a newer house I always thought the mild was making my kids sick I feel my kids are always getting sick with a fever to often but doctors say they check thier blood for that and it comes back negative (for led) who knows but reading your story has helped I could maybe get answers sooner I’ve had dizziness but it actually is getting better and brain fog most days I always have fatigue and headaches have been way more often then usual my eyes always feel so heavy also even more then I go to stores and having to look around and the drunk feeling is getting a little better but I still  feel it everyday. Thanks for responding . It’s been 2 hard months things are hard but I do my best to not let it take over me even getting anxiety and depression which I’ve never experienced in my life ..

      Hi Cynthia,

What sorry of blood test the doctor done for you to be diagnosed with Marconi.

      Please let me know.

I am at GP surgery now waiting for my appointment.

      Thanks

      Sab

Marcons was not discovered as result of blood work. I had to have deep swab done in sinuses.. it came back positive for marcons.. have been using BEG spray to eliminate that for about 45 days

Yes they have like cheap polling tile and it’s pealing here and there around  and I see mold and of course bad others look and it’s all mold and even gets wet when it rains and smells
    • Posted

I bet you have mold issue that your body is now unable to eliminate..

Thank you.. it’s somewhat comforting that there’s people feeling the same way I do.

Having kids makes this situation worse!

I’ve been feeling a bit better.. I’m just finishing my monthly cycle so I’m still trying to figure out  if it has anything to do with my hormones during my monthly cycle.

I’ve seen so many diff doctors and no one has an answer for me. One neurologist I saw tried to give me pills for “anxiety”.. I refused to take those meds. The 2nd one said it could be vestibular migraine and tried to give me meds but I didn’t want to take it.

I’ve kind of given up on finding the cause with these regular doctors. That’s why my next step is a hollistic doctor. They check vitamin levels and all sorts of things that regular doctors don’t. They treat through acupuncture and herbal Chinese medicine or diet.

    • Posted

Wow I’ve never heard of that. What exactly are all your symptoms and what kind of doctor did all that testing for you?
    • Posted

Same here, I’ve had migraine and suffer from headaches all my life. All these symptoms didn’t start happening until I had my son in 2015, it began when I was 8months pregnant with him.. Inhad never felt this way before my son. Most doctors don’t know what’s going on so right away they want to associate it with “anxiety”. But it’s not.. these symptoms give me anxiety lol especially while driving. For a few months I had been consistent with my massages and acupuncture but idk what the hell changed and the “drunk” feeling had been stronger than usual.

I’m excited to have booked my cranial sacral therapy.. let’s see how it goes.

Wow, I can say I can relate to some of those symptoms. There’s times I feel fatigued but It comes and goes. Last summer was bad but it turned out I had low iron. Often my eyes feel heavy, very tired and I have to run them and close my eyes for a bit.

What type of doctor checked for that??

    • Posted

Symptoms started with fatigue and morphed into heavy head, foggy head, dark heaviness over my eyes, problems with reading,, driving, computer work, extreme sensitivity to light, depth perception issues, dizziness, pain in my eyes every day, i went thru about 10 doctors until i ended up with a functional doctor who im still seeing
    • Posted

Wow that’s pretty much my symptoms.. also I dread going to crowded places, markets, and malls. My eyes feel over stimulated and make me dizzy. What’s a fuctional Doctor is it like a specialist ?
    • Posted

Sounds like all my symptoms. Have you seen an eye doctor and have gone checked for vertical heterophoria? Also known as binocular vision dysfunction

For some reason it's not letting me post the website but I will tell you below how to find it. Dr Debbie Feinberg Vision Specialists of Michigan. Go to the homepage and read all about it and all the symptoms

      Hi Amy!

I’ve seen 2 eye specialist and they can’t find anything.. I have 20/20 vision. Ugh it’s so frustrating. I actually had been researching binocular vision and told my primary doctor about it but he has no clue what I was talking about. I have HMO health insurance so my doctor has to approve everything before I get to see a specialist.

      Do u have binocular vision??

    • Posted

Yeah, sometimes this website does that.. it gets in my nerves.

I think I know what you’re talking about.. they give people “special glasses” to correct the problem.

The 2 eye specialist ive seen have told me it’s not an eye problem based on my symptoms.. they keep referring me to an ENT but I’ve see 2 already and they can’t find anything.

I also feel pressure in my ears from time to time as if I’m a high altitude..

Functional doctor deals with the root of the problem rather than just throwing medication at what it might be.. based on each persons genetics, blood work, hormone and thyroid imbalance and symptoms....more toward natural medicine
    • Posted

Exactly !. I have 3 of his books and theyre spot on. Im glad you found your path faster than i did.. i was diagnosed with Epstein Barr in 2005.

A few family events and exposure to mold and it came back with a vengeance.. whole body and brain inflammation.. hope to have it back under control over the next few months.

I wish more people (and doctors) knew about it. Ebv seems to be the cause of a lot of mystery illnesses. Did you find that you managed to suppress the symptoms through nutrition and vitamin supplements? I have my celery juice every morning and take vitamin C & D, Omega 3, Calcium/magnesium/zinc combo and L-lysine over the last month which seems to have really helped. I've also cut eggs and pork from my diet.

    • Posted

Yes, diet is huge.. i cant do anything with celery, makes me gag...lol and im allergic to pork so it was a non issue and i rarely eat eggs.. fruits, proteins, veggies, and yes i take a crap ton of supplements as well.. all the ones you mentioned and about 6 more.....magnesium theronate, liposomal vitamin c, omega 3 with Epa and Dha, adrenal support, lipoic acid, NAC, and vitamin a because im unable to absorb it from food.. never thought Id be doing any of this

Me neither! It's been a shock to my system..and to my life as a whole. Did you ever have vertigo Cynthia? That was my first symptom. Loads of symptoms that seem to be cyclic....everyday a new symptom seems to appear until you feel like you are going mad. I still get muscle spasms and pins and needles and numbness in fingers sometimes. My main symptom at the moment is in my left eye...dull ache around the eyeball...the nerve is obviously inflamed. Driving, for me, has been a nightmare until recently. Felt like I was almost cross eyes when driving...difficult to explain. Almost like vision was bouncing...or there was some kind of disconnect between my brain and what I was looking at. Optometrist said my eyes are fine...eye pressure fine...and that its probably optic neuritis (which is a another symptom of ebv).

    • Posted

You have described me!. Yes i had vertigo...and it have the same eye pain only mine is on my right eye!. And i have the same driving difficulties, like my eyes see whats going on but my brain gets the info 2 seconds later.. i understand because it happens to me, but its nearly impossible to explain to someone who hasnt experienced it.
    • Posted

I went to optometrist as well, eye pressure was fine and he said my optic nerves were strong and there were no tumors or other issues behind my eyes.. i didnt know neuritis was part of ebv.
    • Posted

It's so nice to talk to people who "get it"..cos as you say...it's very difficult to describe! Feel free to contact me privately if you want to chat more..it helps to talk to talk about and to also know that you will be okay.

    • Posted

Yes it does and id sure like to continue the conversation with you.. tjere have been days when i wondered if this was going to be the rest of my life and if it was bearable.

A regular eye doctor cannot detect this mind it and I went to see one of the specialist on that website I actually slept two and they both confirmed I have it. I was given pretty strong prism so I'm waiting for a bit lower so I can slowly adjust and work my way up to a higher prescription. I strongly urge you to go see one of them to get an opinion. Also follow the support group on Facebook it's called vertical heterophoria group

    • Posted

Hey love did you see my post above about BVD. I think you should look into it and go see one of the specialists trained by Dr fineberg
    • Posted

I’ve already checked out their website.. I’m a bit skeptical bc my doctor had never heard of this. I’ve always had 20/20 vision..

I’m in California. Is that place located In Michigan?

    • Posted

Ohhhh yes, a hollistic doctor. I plan to see one the end of July. Hopefully he can help.
    • Posted

So ebv was the cause of your misery?? I totally get you when you say it feels like your vision is bouncing as your driving. It happens to me while walking and driving. Some days are good some are bad.

Also, my eyes get over stimulated in markets and malls.. feel like I’m dizzy and I’m going to faint.

      So what exactly is ebv?
