Brain fog, dizziness, vision problems, head pressure, headache PLEASE HELP

Hi everyone!

I don't know where else to go, and was hoping someone could please help me. I'll start off by saying I'm a 23 year old Caucasian female. Going on 5 months now, I have had absolutely debilitating symptoms which have hindered my daily life. I feel these symptoms every moment of every day.

It started with dizziness and a persistent brain fog. I just thought I had a bug, and tried to go on about my life. However, my symptoms have never gone away. This "brain fog" I am talking about is a feeling of complete mental confusion, I have no memory, I cannot concentrate on anything, it feels like there's a dark blanket on my brain clouding all my thoughts. I have extreme disorientation and haziness. I feel like I'm always in a dream like state.

I am constantly dizzy and feel a pulling sensation, as if I'm ready to fall over at any moment. It feels like there's air inside my head, and I'm always very lightheaded. Whenever I try to drive I feel this pulling sensation pulling me down.

Another problem I have is with my vision. I am having very blurred vision and have double vision. Everytime I look at something up close it is extremely blurry and I cannot see at all. My perception on things has completely changed. I feel like everything looks very odd and strange and I don't have the right depth perception. It's like I'm in a horrible dream like state all the time.

I have been having headaches and head pressure as well, and having horrible pains behind my eyes. The pin starts from the back of my head close to my neck and continues up my head and the sides of my temples. My eyes hurt so bad, and it feels like knives are jabbing my eyes. My head also feels extremely heavy all the time.

All these symptoms have been causing me severe anxiety, and I have been having panic attacks from them and feel like I'm dying. It is causing a strange disrespity sensation, where I feel like I'm not even here anymore and there's a detachment from myself and my body. I have had to drop all my classes at college and quit my job because these symptoms make me lay in bed all day long. I have been unable to drive for months and can barely get up to walk around. If anyone could please help me or know anything as a suggestion to try.

I have been to my general doctor, 2 ENTs, 1 neurologist, have had 2 MRIs, a hearing test, VNG, multiple blood tests, and no one knows what is wrong. I can't live like this anymore. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Your story is all to familiar to me. I have similar symptons such as headache, neck and ear pain, ear ringing, pain around the eyes, blurred vision and visual perception affected.  I can not longer drive at night because my vision got so bad. I was finally diagnosed with Psuedotumor Cerebri aka Idiopathic Intracranial Hypertension.  It's basically an increase in spinal fluid pressure which, if high enough, can mimic symptoms of a brain tumor, hence, "psuedotumor".  I had a clean MRI, all my blood test normal.  It was when I had my eyes checked that it was revealed that there was inflammation of the optic nerve due to the pressure.  I had to have my eyes dilated and an ultrasound to determine this.  Then I had to have a lumbar puncture to measure spinal fluid pressure.  Normal opening pressure is 18 or below, I was at 31.  There is no cure.  Treatment consist of weight loss and diuretics to reduce fluid retention.  Should treatment not be successful then having a shunt put in would be the next option.  I have been on meds since February.  The inflammation of my optic nerve has gone down but I still have high pressure.  I do still feel ill pretty much daily but knowing what is going on with me and knowing that this is not going to kill me gives me peace of mind.

Hi Lola! I’m so sorry you’re dealing with the same symptoms but I’m happy you found a diagnosis! Peace of mind is a very powerful thing.

When your eyes were dilated where did they do the mri on? What part of your body to determine it? A lumbar puncture spinal tap is something I’m definitely doing after I heal a bit after I give birth!

Does your symptoms ever subside depending on the day ? Or always the same ? How about anyone else ?

Hi Yolanda! I’ve never had a day where I’ve felt 100% normal and felt like my old self. However, there were days when it wouldn’t be *as bad* as other days. It’s so hard to tell anymore because since I’ve been pregnant everyday I feel exactly the same and it’s always just a really bad day. It’s definitely from all the pregnancy symptoms added on for me though.

There were times like a year ago that I’d have days where it wasn’t as bad! It would fluctuate a little bit. It’s just frustrating that I’m stuck in this limbo of feeling so bad right now all the time.

My due date was September 4, so I have to be induced this Tuesday. So hopefully my body will regulate a little more!

Hey I was curious if I made a Facebook page for this if you all would be interested in joining. I think it would be a good addition to this page and maybe easier to use?
