Brain fog, dizziness, vision problems, head pressure, headache PLEASE HELP

Hi everyone!

I don't know where else to go, and was hoping someone could please help me. I'll start off by saying I'm a 23 year old Caucasian female. Going on 5 months now, I have had absolutely debilitating symptoms which have hindered my daily life. I feel these symptoms every moment of every day.

It started with dizziness and a persistent brain fog. I just thought I had a bug, and tried to go on about my life. However, my symptoms have never gone away. This "brain fog" I am talking about is a feeling of complete mental confusion, I have no memory, I cannot concentrate on anything, it feels like there's a dark blanket on my brain clouding all my thoughts. I have extreme disorientation and haziness. I feel like I'm always in a dream like state.

I am constantly dizzy and feel a pulling sensation, as if I'm ready to fall over at any moment. It feels like there's air inside my head, and I'm always very lightheaded. Whenever I try to drive I feel this pulling sensation pulling me down.

Another problem I have is with my vision. I am having very blurred vision and have double vision. Everytime I look at something up close it is extremely blurry and I cannot see at all. My perception on things has completely changed. I feel like everything looks very odd and strange and I don't have the right depth perception. It's like I'm in a horrible dream like state all the time.

I have been having headaches and head pressure as well, and having horrible pains behind my eyes. The pin starts from the back of my head close to my neck and continues up my head and the sides of my temples. My eyes hurt so bad, and it feels like knives are jabbing my eyes. My head also feels extremely heavy all the time.

All these symptoms have been causing me severe anxiety, and I have been having panic attacks from them and feel like I'm dying. It is causing a strange disrespity sensation, where I feel like I'm not even here anymore and there's a detachment from myself and my body. I have had to drop all my classes at college and quit my job because these symptoms make me lay in bed all day long. I have been unable to drive for months and can barely get up to walk around. If anyone could please help me or know anything as a suggestion to try.

I have been to my general doctor, 2 ENTs, 1 neurologist, have had 2 MRIs, a hearing test, VNG, multiple blood tests, and no one knows what is wrong. I can't live like this anymore. Any help is greatly appreciated.

-Elise

Hey group, I haven't been on here forever. Has anyone here seen a NUCCA chiropractor? I've been seeing one for 3 weeks and I can say I haven't had one crazy headache since. Dizziness is improving. I was a bit more dizzy yesterday but I know I'm due for the adjustment. Please look it up, read about it and go see one

My 18 year old son is having the same issues.

So far we have been to the opthalmologist, urgent care and primary care and had a CAT scan which showed nothing.

He is also ready to quit his college classes.

    Where should we go next?

I'm sorry that you've been in this for so long. I know it's frustrating because this kid has never complained of anything before this and. It hurts me to have this happening to him and you as well

Ana, atypical migraine can cause ongoing brain fog, imbalance, dizziness, and many other symptoms. There really is no diagnostic tests, just ruling other things out. The best way to see if this is your problem is to see if a Dr will trial you on a migraine preventative such as nortriptyline to see if it works. They can work quickly, or take awhile to kick in.

This is true I just found out I have vestibular migraines which I had to rule everything else out had lots  of blood test done mri, ctscan, ekg, eeg, dome and everything came back normal you can also have migraines without any head pain which comes the brain fog the and lots of other symptoms. I actually do get migraines tho but I know a lot of other people go don’t . But I also know how everyone else feels being stuck not knowing what is wrong and just feeling not your self hang in there your answers will be answered . @dizzy Liszt I haven’t seen anyone post anything on the fb page I was thinking of Elise wondering how she is since after the baby.

Yolanda how are you doing on the Norotriptiline?? Have any of your symptoms improved?? I am getting better on this med. no more brain fog or confusion.  So I feel I am on the right path.  My doctor has upped my meds to 30 and will keep going until all my symptoms are gone and my brain is reset. I hope your head is clearing.  Are you taking Magnesium too?

I am not taking Nortriptyline but I am taking Gabapentin and Carbamazepine for nerve pain and since then I've noticed a HUGE improvement in my brain fog symptoms. I still have poor attention and memory but my thoughts are a lot clearer. That constant spaced feeling is mostly gone. There definitely seems to be a strong connection here with brain fog and nerve pain medication. I also take magnesium at night which helps with the pain.

I am taking magnesium 800 is the max.  I have no brain fog or confusion.  But I just tried to grocery shop to see if I could without symptoms.  It wasn't perfect-the shopping carts around me bothered me.  But I was better than before.  Glad you are feeling better with your meds.

I was on 10mg for a month then bumped up to 25mg it’s only been a week starting today . Hopfully soon I see improvement with dizziness and migraines those are the o lot symptoms I’m just starting to experience in 5 months of this illiness!! Yes I’m taking magnesium, B2 , coq10, vitamin E ,  I take those in the am , and the Nort. At bed time. Have you had to change your diet?

Yes- I was told by otolaryngologist to cut out foods and drinks.  He told me I could take up to 800 of magnesium for the headaches.  That helps. I was counting the months the other day and it's been since May.  Some of these months I really don't remember at all.  but he said to me that we just have to find the right dosage to wipe out all the symptoms.  It's great the brain fog is better, everything else will too!

yolanda- my by brain started to clear I realized I had a lot of headaches.  I started writing things down in my iPad because I would forget.  Things to tell the dr. It's weird when you aren't confused anymore.  I wonder if you need PT exercises to help with the dizziness
