Breath smells like faeces (Poo)

Posted , 379 users are following.

I have this horrid poo smell from my mouth. I brush my teeth twice a day, floss, use Dentyl PH mouthwash, I have the best oral hygeine of anyone I know but I still have this smell. I am too embarrassed to even ask my flriends or family to tell me my breath stinks. I am becoming totally reclusive because of it. Id rather go to my GP and tell him ive got an STD. I know ive got it coz sometimes people look around and ask if ive farted, and I see people with babies smelling their nappies when I speak. It really is starting to badly affect my life but I just cant pluck up the courage ot go to my GP. How on earht can i ay \"DR, My breath smells like poo!\" Please, if anyone has any tips let me know.

Hi M Guest, I have the same symptoms for many ago.

But finally I discovered the main cause of the bad breathe. It's kind of bacteria lives inside the linen of the stomach and can make a good environment by spreading more acids.

I went to the gastronomist and he put me under medication cosists of two kind of antibioticts and another medication which reduce the acids in the stomach but just do the breathe test to be sure that you have this bacteria, and these links below will help you more to collect some information about this bacteria and how to treat it.

Hi leaheva04, I'm taking Amoxycillin 1000mg twice daily +Flagyl 400mg twice daily +Nexium 40 mg once daily for two weeks after that I'll continue with Flagyl and Nexium for two or three month .

The main one which affects positively on meis the Flagyl, it's like a magic when I started taken it, all the symptoms went away even the bad breath.

      Hi again.

Do you think I can just take Flagyl by itself.

I have been spending lots of money and I cant really afford lots of medications.

Please let me know so I can just try Flagyl.

      Thanks

Leaeva04, all these medications are not expensive at all and if you have actually this bacteria, you should take all the components to completely destroy it.

Although you can try flagyl first, if it's not been useful, it won't affect badly on you, you might feel better after a couple of days, after that you can follow the right regime to be in the right track.

How long has it been since off meds? And has your bb came back? I hear when takin antibiotics that the bb will go away, but then come back.

Hi Krisha. We are all in the same boat here and there are some great suggestions on this thread you can try. Nothing has worked for me so far but I'll keep trying. I am doing a parasite cleanse just now as I read this can cause bad breath I'm also taking a high strength pro biotic. No joy as yet but will finish the course. There is a great post from 4 days ago by sequins if you scroll back a bit. Many suggestions for you to try. I would suggest working through those first of all. Good luck and keep us posted how you get on.

Hello Loobs, what probiotics are you taking?

      Thanks

Hi Chris. I bought them online. They are 10billion cfu. Called incite. I can't say if they are any good because I never smell my breath anyway it's other people who make comments. However I'm sure they are doing me some good even if not with the breath. Somebody on this forum got pro biotics for he kids and it got rid of the bb but didn't work for her.

      Worth a try I suppose.

I posted this on a different thread but this one is a lot more active so i will repost

I think we all have the same problem and the majority of people in numerous forums can confirm they also have some type of digestion issue and clearly not a hygene issue.. For me, my irritable bowel, acid reflux and BB started at the same time(around age 12). At age 14 i begged my mother to take me to the doctor who said it is probably post nasal drip but the meds didnt help. The next year the gastroenterologist that was treating my acid reflux said the meds for the acid reflux(propulsid&zantac) will help if indeed that was the cause. I was thrilled unitl i started the meds and it didnt help. The next year I went to a dentist that had an ad in the newspaper for curing bad breath, he had a special diagnostic tool and a magic mouthwash, I went to him and had a gum cleaning and a confirmation that i had BB(as if i didnt know) and then i started the special mouthwash that of course didnt work. After 20 years and spending a small fortune on trendy mouthwashes and nasal drops and lozenges etc. I was given metronidazole after a root canal and my BB was gone but like most stories, it returned shortly after finishing the antibiotic..I now obtain metronidazole(made in america) on the black market before a party or a vacation just to have temporary normal breath.. I am going to start a low FODMAP diet, take digestive enzymes, probiotics and oral probiotic lozenges and if that doesnt work then i dont know what will.  I will let everyone know if this works.

I hear what your saying Iam going through the samething Ive made an appt with my doctor. Get tested for H.Pylori its a simple breath test it will determine if u have it they will give u 2 types of antibiotics and something to reduce the acid its an aggressive eradication therapy for 7 to 10 days. Thats why when your prescribed antibiotics u stop having bb but its not enough thats why it comes back!!

i was negative for H.Pylori, gastro docs tell me its oral bacteria, dentist say its stomach.. I can say since my diet has changed it is not as bad but still horrendous. Too bad we cant all take metronidazole everyday of our lives.. maybe probiotics/digestive enzymes and a low fodmap diet for an extended period of time will work.
