Breath smells like faeces (Poo)

Posted , 379 users are following.

I have this horrid poo smell from my mouth. I brush my teeth twice a day, floss, use Dentyl PH mouthwash, I have the best oral hygeine of anyone I know but I still have this smell. I am too embarrassed to even ask my flriends or family to tell me my breath stinks. I am becoming totally reclusive because of it. Id rather go to my GP and tell him ive got an STD. I know ive got it coz sometimes people look around and ask if ive farted, and I see people with babies smelling their nappies when I speak. It really is starting to badly affect my life but I just cant pluck up the courage ot go to my GP. How on earht can i ay \"DR, My breath smells like poo!\" Please, if anyone has any tips let me know.

to all the folk on this site. I too suffer from what ails you. I too found out by others comments and actions. One question:how do you know when your breath is smelling bad if you're not near someone? I personally cannot smell my own breath! And yet everyone here seems to know when their breath smells like 'you know what....'

    sad

Just other people's reactions and I've heard some snidy comments made behind my back. Why don't people just come out to my face and tell me in a nice way instead of being nasty behind my back. I could then tell them that I'm well aware of the issue, I'm desperate for a cure, and my life is not worth living whilst I suffer this mentally debilitating condition!

We cannot smell our own breath so it is really difficutl, sometimes you might find you have a bad taste in your mouth which could mean you have bad breath.  The only (embarrassing) way to find out is to ask someone who you truly trust.  Believe me when you can confide in someone, its a huge relief. Unfortunately its the only way.

    Hi everyone

I just wanted to thank you all for being my pillar of strength, for being there when no one was there and for giving me hope. After a painful, depressing, suicidal 10 years suffering I have now decided to accept my condition, like many people living with disabilities I am prepared to learn how to cope and get on with life. To God, only you know why you chose me but all I can say is I am hurting but I am accepting. I will be seing a Psychiatrist regularly until the day I meet my ancestors. All the best guys I love you all.

it is so sad! #enufsaid! I have big big dreams and aspirations, i love people so socialising to me is like treasure but unfortunately I get punished everytime I try to socialise. I don't deserve this but it is what it is, I am tired of being like a crippled man trying to play basketball. Whoever God is, you created me with a major disability that killed my soul and all I can do now is suffer until I die. Is this a test? I don't know but to God be the glory for the 5% laughs, good times, love and happiness I've experienced on Earth. I will continue living merely to appreciate the life iv been given even though every day will be torture.

I feel your pain brandon,it has been 15years of hell for me too.waking up some days is so hard,am just grateful for my 2 little kids who gives me reason to be alive.I have done everything,i have seen different gps, dentist, hygienist etc with no result.I dont understand why all the medical professionals i see cant smell it but everyone else can,the snide comment, the dirty looks i experience everyday is soul destroying.I have quit several jobs after being humiliated at work. All in all,you have to be positive, you cant give up.

It took eight years to get mine diagnosed, but I also have coeliac and even after I got my tummy infection sorted the smell would not go..I had to go on a gluten free and sugar free diet and the reflux stopped. It only comes up a little when my tummy is a bit off at the end of a cycle. I take a few charcoal tablets then. Maggie x

Am reading about the hiatus hernia you mentioned and am interested,i just dont know how i can convince my gp to refer me for diagnosis since he thinks am bothering him already complaining about a disease dont exist.i know for a fact it does exist because all this many people including family and friends cant be lying.

I was recently diagnosed with an Haitus hernia But I don't think the hernia is the root cause of our problem. It definitely contributes but our problems lies within our stomach and intestinal track. Due to the inability to properly brake down carbs, fats, and proteins we become bloated with gasses that forces itself back up causing the stomach to protrudes through the hole of the diaphragm.

I don't know what the underline cause is. I try so many things am at my breaking point. :'( It could be caused by bacterial imbalance, lack of enzymes or Hcl. Whatever it is I hope someone will come up with a cure soon. We have to keep trying new things and share our results. Giving up is not an option.

Andrew, mine was coeliac disease. I have 2 sisters who have been diagnosed and for reasons of diagnostic difficulties I have now realised that it is combo of things. Coeliac destroys the lining of the small intestine. Then you can't absorbed food efficiently. Then that causes swelling. It's either exercise crunchies or the force of the swelling causing hiatus hernia. I have gone on a gluten and sugar free diet which has helped a lot. Will have to pluck up the courage to snog someone after all these years. Maggie x

Hi, Ask your GP to refer you for an upper GI. Also makes sure they test for H pylori during the procedure. Don't take no for an answer. It took me eight years to sort it all out and I am a medical secretary. Good luck 🍀

So are you saying you had fart breath and now it's completely gone and hiatus hernia was the culprit?

A combination of coeliac disease and hiatus hernia and an infection called H pylori. I have had to go on a gluten and sugar free diet and when my hormones drop at the end of a cycle it can come up a little bit. Then I take charcoal tablets which does the trick. Maggie x

I really can't afford to see a dr right now. Daniel if you decided to see one can u let me know if this works for you too?

It depends upon what size it is? Mine was too small 3cm. Would have been nice if they told me they would not operate on that. I have found out that you can go private and have an endoscopy which has three prongs and applies an electric current which makes the sphincter tighten. I shall have this done when I get some dosh. For the moment no sugar. Maggie x

I cant even talk to my mom because its too embarrassing. Internet is the only thing that made my day. Im still hoping there's a cure for us and i hope you all keep updating your condition.
