Breath smells like faeces (Poo)

Posted , 379 users are following.

I have this horrid poo smell from my mouth. I brush my teeth twice a day, floss, use Dentyl PH mouthwash, I have the best oral hygeine of anyone I know but I still have this smell. I am too embarrassed to even ask my flriends or family to tell me my breath stinks. I am becoming totally reclusive because of it. Id rather go to my GP and tell him ive got an STD. I know ive got it coz sometimes people look around and ask if ive farted, and I see people with babies smelling their nappies when I speak. It really is starting to badly affect my life but I just cant pluck up the courage ot go to my GP. How on earht can i ay \"DR, My breath smells like poo!\" Please, if anyone has any tips let me know.

In my case it doesn't matter what I eat. I was on no gluten, no sugar for months. Took vitamins w meals. I finally stopped all pills to let my body work natural & continue eating healthy but my odor happens when I drink water, food entering stomach, walking, train ride, digesting food, empty stomach. I have to remind myself to eat ever two hours bc I get hungry.I'm waiting to do breath test for bacterial overgrowth from GI BUT insurance is taking long to find a place to do it.

I have a hiatus hernia. I stink up my office & many ppl around me at work & the train look at me if looks could kill, cough in my face, cover their nose I stay focused on work or reading a book but there is so much I can take.

so eating asking for me, any motion, food digesting brings up the odor & it's so embarrassing. I have no social life & can't be outdoors too long bc I smell it myself at times & I can't take it. Hope we all get answers to this issue soon.

Hi Chris, I really feel for you because I know exactly what you are going through. Mine was a combination of hiatus hernia, H pylori and coeliac. I still get a bit of reflux at the end of a cycle but I can cover that with charcoal tablets. Hope you get some answers somehow. Maggie x

Thank you for your response, Maggie. Have you resolved your odor?

How were you tested for Celica?

      I don't have h pylori.

Only by blood test and that is not an accurate indicator. My colleague had to have 3 endoscopies' to get a diagnosis. I need to find out what type of endoscopy is the best type to have? Maggie x

Hello Maggie, I'm in the u.s. & none of the docs want to do another endoscopy. I was told in another 10 years.

I had my tonsils removed t we o days ago but I noticed my BB today. I had urge to go but nothing.

      Has anyone here taken perlosec?

I have hiatus hernia anyone else?

haven't done the breath test for bacterial overgrowth, still waiting

Dear Chris, I had exactly the same problem as you. Found out I had a hiatus hernia. That took 7 years but the first endoscopy they did they didn't do a sample for H pylori. Even after that it has taken another 2 years and over the last few months I went on a gluten free and low sugar diet and it has worked. No more smell of faeces. I have an appointment with gastro in a couple of months to see if I am actually coeliac as I have 2 sisters who are I have to start eating gluten again so I will find out soon. My guess is the biggest culprit is the sugar. Having the hiatus hernia just doesn't keep the smell of fermenting sugar down. It destroyed my life. Maggie

This may be to do with dental implants. Could people in this discussion who have this problem say if they have dental implants?

The hypothesis is that dental implants particular the new ones are porous and contain chemicals. These chemicals are leached out of the implants and irritate the gastrointestinal system. Those with already sensitive stomachs are made much worse and produce alot of saliva and stomach acid. These conditions are good for bad bacteria in you system which thrive. In addition the excess acid in you gut slowly ruins the lining, infact you stomach slowly begins to digest itself. Bad bacteria and damaged gastrointestinal system results in effectively a rotting gut.

That's my hypothesis. I believe that dentists have been too willing to implant new materials into people we are the human guinea pigs for new dental materials. If you talk to a dentist about these new materials they will insists that people don't have reactions to them. There are no such substances that no-one has no reactions to. I believe the dental industry is headed for huge lawsuits for this in the next 5 years. I have this condition and have dental implant composites which I will get removed. They are non essential so I won't be replacing them with anything else.

The site won't allow me to respond but the tge one that mentioned how other docs dint sMell it but the rest of the world does, you are not alone. I wonder the same.

Also the medical Secretary said to not give up, it took her long on getting tested. I agree.

Most of us want a quick fix but I honestly think its a combo of things. Find out if u have hiatus hernia, change into a healthier diet which for me is still difficult to figure out bc even water and walking creates the odor, good probiotics!

Someone asked about body odor, I'm noticing it now that even my deodorant doesn't work but docs told me to stop probiotics, enzymes to do thebreath test (I'm still waiting, close to a month).

Eating clean makes me SOOOO hungry & empty stomach can cause you to breath horrible odor, with or without a hernia, (hernia surgeon told me)

I had my tonsils removed on thursday. I'm doing the nasal/sinus rinse you buy at pharmacy- my doc ordered that & other meds.

I stepped out yesterday. I didn't notice anyone react but I will see tomorrow when I go back to work.

stomach & intestines. I have issues eliminating COMPLETE BOWEL. Many of us think we HAD a complete bowel in the mornings but in my case I see that looks are deceiving. Being on this antibiotic makes me really go completely. I'm not promoting meds just pointing out that I was convinced I had complete bowel movement bc I went but I think what hasn't comee out is what we breath out & something must be happening in those areas that keeps me from fully eliminating everything.

I'm still in pain from the tonsils but I will post as I notice any positive change.

I hope you all continue on getting the truth on our condition. Do not give up! smile

Alyssa I saw your comment and emphasize. The truth is no amount of mouth wash or repetitive brushing a day will solve the problem. Once your breadth has gone that far beyond routine hygiene control you need to talk to your dentist. I used to have really horrible breadth and one of my classmates in college pulled me aside one day and said "you know, you are a smart guy, but you need to do something about your breadth" He said this to me verbatim and blatantly. I was so embarrassed and depressed. Anyway that was 6 years ago. I brush day and night and use mouth wash too but that did not solve the problem. 3 weeks ago, I went for teeth cleaning with my new problem and told her that I have bad breadth issues. Told her I could brush now and 30 minutes later my breadth will be really bad again. She did some X-rays and some tests. The tests revealed that my gums were inflamed and filled with bacteria. She asked, do you bleed sometimes when you brush? I said "Yes". She told me my teeth were healthy but my gums weren't and she was gonna perform a laser bacterial removal after my teeth cleaning. That was intended to remove the bacteria and stop the inflamed gums. It was a 2 day process. Fast forward to today, my breadth has no bad smell, the worst smell it produces is the smell of food I just ate. When I wake up in the morning I blow my breadth on my wife and ask her if she smells anything, she replies "it's just warm". All in all, since the laser removal, it's either my breadth smells like food I just ate or it produces no smell at all. When I brush and use mouthwash in the morning, I keep a fresh breadth all through the day. I feel so wonderful and alive again. Ask your dentist to perform the bacterial test and see if you would need a laser removal. The laser removal takes only 2 minutes. But the teeth cleaning takes about an hour for the upper set and another hour for the lower set. Dentists will usually do upper or lower on the first day since you will be in pain. And then you get the second one done on the second day or when we you choose. Hope this helps. Lemme know if you have any questions.

ki87531, Can you please tell me for how long you had the bb before you got rid of it? Did you have it for more than 6 years?

      I too suffer from this.

      Juli2016,

Mine has been about five years. I must say it's been so bad to deal with it's depressing. Thing is, it's not that bad. It's there though. Freaks people out. I have even gone to the extreme of getting my tonsils removed. This helps for some, but I spoke to a Chinese herbalist and he said I have stomach heat and to try the herb Qing Wei San. Look it up, and tell me you don't have all of those symptoms. I do!!! So I ordered these Chinese tea pills from Amazon.

Also, look up the stomach heat and see which foods to avoid. Sugar is one of them. Keep it to a minimum. I hope this helps!!!

Its been 3 years since I have this problem. I never have a bad breath before. It started after I start wearing Invasilign braces. I thought its the brace &  I brush my teeth and clean the retainer well. After I stop wearing the brace the BB still there no matter how much I clean my mouth. I visited many dentist but they confirmed that I have a clean teeth not even one cavity. I 100% make sure its not the invaslign braces.

One day I ate a pizza & went to sleep immediately, after a few hours the food came to my nose during my sleep almost lost my life. My turbinate in my nose swollen couldn't smell anything for two years, my throat in my right side swollen too. I had a burning feeling under my ribs, constant burping, the food I ate is not digested fast.

Due to this I lost my job, my marriage, my social life. I was outgoing & used to love people. People brake my heart, even my husband told me I don't have a BB but when I talked to him he rub his nose a lot. My customer who used to loved me alot, try to not to be close to me anymore. I thought about sucide alot but my heart always telling me there is a cure out there. I dig the internet eveyday for cure it really helps me alot & today I feel like I have to atleast tell people my progress because you people out there share your story and save my life.

After I divorce I lost my medical insurance moved to another state I didn't get any medication for a year. But I try many herbs, teas, liver cleanse, mouthwash, floss, medicine for fungus & bacteria(my relatives send to me from other country, I know its not a doctor prescription, I prescribe for my self). what can I do?

Things help me alot: Netipot(salt & baking soda) flush everyday, eating home made food especially vegi & fruit. Siberian Nut oil, Blackcumin Oil with warm milk, Caster oil drop on my nose, flax seed & chia seed & Mastic gum.

After alot of suffering finally I got a good job with health insurance & went to a gastro-intestinal doctor. The minutes I mention my symptoms(Bad breath, acid reflux, burning under my left ribs, swollen nose & cann't able to smell, swollen throat, dark circle) she told me she suspect H.Pylori & test for it and the lab result confirmed it. She prescribed 3 kind of medicine to take. I took it & got some result reduced the burning under my ribs & the sour taste in my mouth. She also told me this bacteria will not disapear immediately & it might need two to three treatment. Atleast the offensive BB is not bad like it used too, that is a big thing.

I want people not to give up, there is a cure out there. I will update my result soon.
